 So that's why it's blue in case you ever wonder when you get electronics why it's a different color plastic that is wrapped in. Alright, yeah I like this one. But anyway, we're hoping that this will help with the consistency of our strength of signal and so I'm going to show you how to hook it up, it's really simple. This one is your power source, alright, it's where you plug it in down here, okay

 Now what I'm going to do is, I'm going to use the existing wires that are already there, so you can see the yellow cable right here coming out of the bottom of this, this is our old modem, okay. So I'm going to unplug that and I will unplug my router, this is our router, okay. Those are plugged in down here, I'll unplug both of those, that's where the power going to them. I'm going to take this off the wall, I'll unplug the power cable back here, okay, ethernet cable that goes to the router, and then this is my cable coming in from the house, just unscrew your cable, okay, you can see, same thing

 So what you have with your wifi at your house, what you have is you have a modem, most people have some kind of cable internet. So a cable comes into the house, it goes into here, this is your modem, it will go into this and then you have a wire, ethernet cable running from this to your wifi router. So you have your modem and then you have a router, those are two separate things. This brings your internet signal into your house

 Those are plugged in down here, I'll unplug both of those, that's where the power going to them. I'm going to take this off the wall, I'll unplug the power cable back here, okay, ethernet cable that goes to the router, and then this is my cable coming in from the house, just unscrew your cable, okay, you can see, same thing. Now this one didn't have a color code, but most of them do, most of them are yellow. Alright, now this new one, like I showed you before, it's the back there, it's got a little on off button, which is nice, a lot of them don't have that, you just have to unplug it usually to reset it, and it has a reset button, which is really cool too

 They then said they can’t waive any fee, and they have no way of doing that. I then called them on that, because I have been credited beforehand when a problem happened a year or two ago.  So, long story short. I wouldn’t buy this unless it works with your provider, it may be backwards compatible but it’s best to get one that you know works for sure

 He then went on to tell me I should sign up for their new 200mbps plan because my old 200mbps wasn’t giving me the full speed, and if I did I can get their cable modem for free without paying any rental fee. Well, I was livid. I just spent $160 for this modem, and was told it would work. I said it was supposed to be backwards compatible, to which he replied with that while it is backwards compatible the DOCSIS 3

 The associate I was speaking with then told me “Oh, the modem you are using isn’t compatible with our Network”. I told him I was told this when I called the last time. He then went on to tell me I should sign up for their new 200mbps plan because my old 200mbps wasn’t giving me the full speed, and if I did I can get their cable modem for free without paying any rental fee. Well, I was livid

 I just spent $160 for this modem, and was told it would work. I said it was supposed to be backwards compatible, to which he replied with that while it is backwards compatible the DOCSIS 3.1 features are some how affecting their network and.

I don’t know if I can fault the modem, or Spectrum for this...

 And that's probably due to the amazing power of the DOCSIS 3.1 that's programmed into the actual device as well as having those 32 downstream and 8 upstream channels which makes it a very powerful modem to have at your disposal. If you're working at home, you're streaming a lot of video, you've got a bunch of people to live at your house, maybe you've got kids, I think we all have kids, just about, then this may be just the modem for you and you may actually want to go and get yourself set up with a service like we have, like for instance we have Cox Gigablast, most of the providers now have some sort of gigabit type of connection available in their respective states. So that would definitely be a good modem to pick up

 Just unplug the ethernet cable, coax cable, and power cable. Make a little sad face because we're sad that we're giving up our really neat CM600. And now to install our CM1000. Just plug the new power adapter into the back of it

 And all we have to do is just call our cable provider to go and add the modem onto our account and we'll be rocking and rolling before we know it. These are some of the different speed tests we ran on Fast.com and this is one that we ran on Speedtest. So the final thoughts on the modem

Netgear  CM1000 Review - Nighthawk Ultra-High Speed Cable Modem (NOT SPONSORED)

My current plan is 400 mbps download and 20 mbps upload. I currently run a Netgear CM1000 modem and Eero Pro 6 WiFi Mesh router system. I typically get around 450 mbps download and around 23 mbps upload.

Either Xfinity is lying to me or it needs to be reset.

100.1 and the password, the username is admin and the password is password and of course once you log in you get this Netgear Genie screen. That gives you the information about your connection here, how many channels and all this other good stuff. So we'll go ahead and do a speed test here

 So for me the upload is 141 megabits per second. But you know this isn't bad. So if you're not getting real good download speeds, just try different servers because sometimes those servers get busy and they don't have the upload capacity or they may have technical problems or difficulties. But this is the Cox Gigablast on the Netgear CM1000 modem

 So we're going to try a different server. Let's try this Citizen Cell Phone Cooperative. Oh, can't connect to them because they're too busy. Let's try a Firefly fiber broadband

 The app that I'm using is the speedtest.net app. You can go to the Windows Store or even Apple Store and download it for free and install it. It's a lot more accurate than going to the website

Netgear CM1000 Gigablast Speed Test

It does not matter if use Ethernet cable straight to the router or Wifi, I get the same speed across every device I test. I have used CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6e & CAT8 cables with same effect. My Modem is a Netgear CM1000 3.1 DOCSIS (10Gbps) and Router is a Protectli 4-Port 8GB RAM (1Gbps) with a TPLINK AX5400 (1Gbps) for WiFi access point

  For the record the modem has done this for both my old wireless N router as well as my new Asus router.  So in conclusion i dont know if i got a dud or not but i have eliminated all of the weak links in the chain and it is the only one left. Sadly i am beyond the refund phase or i would go that route.

 i used my 3.0 modem until it arrived and was getting max speeds (for what it was rated) off of it.  After the new modem arrived i experienced some issues getting anywhere near my rated speed for the package i had. I swapped out the coax cable with a shielded one and bought all new cat 6 Ethernet cables and that did the trick, for the most part

  The funny bit about this is that doesnt matter what sort of internet package i have; 30% is the max unless i go through the process exactly as described. As i recently downgraded back to a 100 mgbs package because the gig package was simply too expensive for what i was getting, and when i do speed tests i get about 30 mgbs unless i do the above mentioned song and dance.  For the record the modem has done this for both my old wireless N router as well as my new Asus router.  So in conclusion i dont know if i got a dud or not but i have eliminated all of the weak links in the chain and it is the only one left

 Plug the modem in and wait until it's fully booted. Then i have to plug in the router when its fully booted. Also i must do this when my computer is turned off. If i dont follow this very precise order i end up getting 30% speeds at best

A few months back I received an automated phone call from Comcast to inform me that they were "upgrading" my internet speeds from the 1 Gig plan to the 1.2 Gig (1200) plan. Ever since then my computer cannot reach more than 420-475 meg download speeds. The upload is the same (36-42 megs).

I have had my comcast account for almost 10 years at this point. I've had my own modem and router for 7-ish of those years. I am not a networking expert by any means, but I am fairly familiar with my equipment and the basic troubleshooting of steps that come with issues regarding them.

This is my current set-up:

My PC:

* ASUS Z170-A Motherboard (Gig compatible)
* Intel X540-T1 NIC (10 GB compatible)
* Line into the house, to the CM1000v2 Modem.  

   * Speeds directly connected to the modem with a Cat7 cable are: 430-475 (8-10 tests)
* The CM1000v2 then connects to my Nighthawk R8000 router.  

   * Speeds directly connected to the ethernet ports with a Cat7 cable are: 450-ish (8-10 tests)  

      * I tried all 4 ports multiple times.
* The R8000 Router connects to my Nighthawk S8000 switch  

   * The switch reads all ports, when connected from Switch -&gt; PC as 1000M
   * Speeds on all 7 of the switches ports, with a Cat7/Cat 6/Cat 5e (I tested all 3 on each port a few times) are also in the 430-470 range.

\*I tested the connections on both of my PC's ethernet ports (never together).

Oddly enough, when I check my devices on the Xfinity account page it now says that the CM1000v2 is not compatible with the 1.2GB speeds. However, based on everything I have read it should be good for up to 10 GB.

I have had a similar issue a few times in the past, which was often resolved after a technician visit/replacing external connections. I would like to try everything that I can before calling Comcast, being on the phone for 10-90 minutes again, having the automated system send a refresh signal and the the customer service person doing it AGAIN.

Whenever I call, the automated system says "Based on the modem health check, and the errors on your modem...." however, when I finally speak with someone and ask them what errors they see, they cannot tell me.

Prior to the "upgrade" I was getting 700-940 download almost all of the time.
