 Now remember, if you shoot 4k on this camera, it actually uses the central portion of the sensor, giving you a pretty big crop, so we have a 36 to 720 equivalent lens. At that point now, 36 is a little bit restrictive, especially when we're shooting on the street. Sometimes I wanted a wider lens to take in more the cathedrals, the environment around Chris and 36. I found a little bit tight, but remember you do win on the tell photo end if you're planning to use this a lot for wildlife

 Is it really going to be stable, we're going to find out okay guys, so I took three photos. You can see all three photos here. You know that's all I took just the three shots. Quarter of a second hand held one-handed and you can see all three shots are very, very sharp, considering what I'm doing in a quarter of a second here

 But unfortunately, here in Europe, where we are right now, you're not going to get that on the limited record time. Otherwise, though, overall guys, this is one of the best video cameras for under a grant and it just handles. Well, it's nice quality, a really really good package. Now making its return

What are people's opinions on crop Sensors these days? 

I'm gonna try really hard not to rant because I've come to absolutely despise crop sensor cameras, but I'm wondering if maybe I'm overreacting. I've shot with a Canon T5 and various lenses for over 5 years now, including paid photo and video shoots. But I also own a range of Nikon film equipment and a Nikon D3. Having used both, my opinion is kinda torn now.

On one side, Crop cameras have:
1. Horrific low-light quality
2. An abandoned lens segment
3. Too long of a focal distance sometimes

But then:
1. They're really affordable
2. They're lightweight
3. They have better quality zoom than my phone (makes a big difference when traveling)

So I'm feeling kinda in the middle about them now because I've taken so many great photos with my current crop camera. And while I love my D3, it's a horrible travel camera lol. Makes me wonder if I've just had sensor envy this whole time and when it wasn't making that big of a difference.

I only bring this up because the new Nikon ZFC is APS-C and everyone's first impression is "Why not full frame" and it got me thinking "well, if full frame really as important as we've been led to believe?". After all, Fuji, Olympus, and Panasonic have been used for professional shoots.

Crop Sensors

 So after months of research i've ordered the G85, as it was the best option with - good price, flip out screen, good IS, nice kit lens, mic input, touch screen, battery life...and many reviewers and youtubers recommended it

 After using it for 1-2 months - I'm anxiously waiting for the next model from sony that will hopefully have mic input and flip out screen. The G85 has a lot of good things going for it, and I knew it's flaws before buying, but after usuing it just doesn't feel like it's really worth the price. Picture and video quality - is just ok. it's noticeably worse than the APC-C Sony and nosier in lower light (as expected)

Looking back i'd probably should have picked the cannon SL2 (great af, lenes, flipout screen) or the sony A6500 (and use my sony lenses and phone apps as flip out screen). Panasonic should really step up their AF game

Canon M50 Vs Sony a6400 Vs Fujifilm X-T200

  I've taken about 200,000 photographs in the last few years with this MFT gear, and I prefer light and compact cameras and lenses for most of what I do with it - and as a result, the very noticeably increased weight of the G85 was an issue for me that overwhelmed its functional advantages over the G7. The G85 is a very nice camera, with many excellent features - but it was not a good replacement for my G7s for me..

 Upon receipt, I checked for an early stabilization defect some people had noted with video - but my sample did not appear to have this problem (it's since been addressed with a firmware update for early G85 samples).  I soon returned the kit for a refund for two reasons: with the G85, a very light G7 had become almost as heavy as my GH4 (which I recently sold, since I no longer shot much video with it, and I preferred the much lighter G7 for stills); and this second sample of the 12-60mm lens, which was much improved over the first sample of this lens that I tried, it was still not up to the image-quality of alternative lenses that I already owned - and it still had some evident asymmetrical image-softness problems.  I've taken about 200,000 photographs in the last few years with this MFT gear, and I prefer light and compact cameras and lenses for most of what I do with it - and as a result, the very noticeably increased weight of the G85 was an issue for me that overwhelmed its functional advantages over the G7. And last, but not least, is my Sony a7ii. It was about $900cad for just the body, and it doesn't have 4k, but it does have ibis and weathersealing, and lenses can be adapted as well. Results are very nice, even if they're only 1080p. Great for low light, nice enough colours, its fine

I really like my Panasonic G85 for video, and they go for about $800cad brand new, where I am. Dual ibis and weathersealed, nice evf, and battery grips are available. I've had good luck with mine. Easy to use vintage lenses with as well

What are the best budget cameras to shoot video?

 Digital has come along way from our first (digital ) camera Nikon D1. Quality of image both video and still is excellent. Ease of use - if you have an ability to learn things like one plus one is actually two.

 Needless to say -very odd phrase- I still have them and have used on several video and still shoots. Results have been more than satisfactory, this coming from a 40 year plus professional photographer/film maker. Digital has come along way from our first (digital ) camera Nikon D1. Who knew Micro 4/3 would be so good...

I will be shooting video as a content creator, mostly filming action sports (snowboarding, climbing) but indoors (in domes). Light will be dim, and I will most likely be on the slopes or at the climbing wall. It'll be a high paced environment so I want the cam to be compact, have stabilization of some sort, tilting screen would be nice, but with a lens that can still zoom across the slopes or up the wall. Thinking an allround lens (28-100, but I'm a noob so maybe I can be enlightened on this Maybe I should go up to 200?)

So far across my research the Panasonic Lumix G85 seems to have the features and budget range I'm kinda into, but I based this conclusion on posts from 2016-17. Is there a 2020/2021 equivalent? 

 i really have to press the shutter half way to help it focus while recording a video.. thats the only down side of this camera but anything else.

 well, with the right lens this camera is amazing.. i mean even the kit lens is super sharp. i didnt expect it from a kit lens

 anyways, i bought the lumix 25mm 1.7 lens and i was amazed how fast it focuses and how sharp the images are..

Cheap and good camera

Not sure why DSLRs would be the best for video but I would get a mirrorless if I was in your position. If you are dead set on buying a camera, check out the Canon m50 or Panasonic g85. Those would be fine for you. Not sure what Professional events you are looking at, but the unlimited recording time on the g85 helps a lot for events like sports or weddings

While I won't be able to afford one of those RED cameras I hear about, I do have the talent and skill to make do with a lesser product. That said, I still need said product before I can begin working, lol.

I'm not gonna take up more of your time than needed; although I would love to keep this all casual, I realize the easiest way to help you help me is to post exactly the specifications I need, then we can discuss from there. So in advance, thank you for any help!
