I own a Lumix G9 (micro four thirds) and a Canon Eos R (full frame). The G9 is my favorite camera EVER. Every feature you can think of, quick auto focus, excellent video features, and great ergonomics.

TLDR: I need your advice and recommendation.

I have a GX80 with a few lenses: Kit 12-32, G Vario 45-200, Samyang 12mm f2 manual, vintage Canon FD 70-210 w/adapter.

Problem is: the scroll wheel on the back of the camera became faulty recently, but I can still manage to shoot in aperture priority/speed priority modes without much of a hassle (and even in full manual with screen controls, but it's a tough workaround since the screen and viewfinder won't be on simultaneously). I asked some workshops for repair prices and they are over 80€ and 2-4 weeks. It's manageable, but inconvenient. And it offers an opportunity.

Since I'm very disappointed in the AF performance of the GX80 (and also that it doesn't really have a flat color profile in photo mode even with the Cine-D firmware hack) I was thinking maybe I should upgrade to a full frame or even an APS-C camera. Could you please recommend me some models?

My profile: I do photography for fun during our trips and family occasions. I gladly try artistic, portrait, architecture and even landscape photography. I very much enjoy post-processing (mainly just color-correction). And I intend to record more dynamic videos which was impossible with the slow AF of the GX80.

The ideal camera could be of any make. I was generally very satisfied with the Lumix system and I had some not so good experiences with Nikon. I definitely want a mirrorless. Budget is undefined yet, but let's say under 800€ with at least 1 good usable lens or max. 1000€ with 2+ lenses (wide angle for landscape and 50ish prime for portrait/architecture, eventually a tele too).

Best camera to record action sports like parkour and climbing and views from rooftops? (budget 900€)

I had high hopes for the G9 being a long time MFT system user. Unfortunately, the four-thirds sensor still hampers the beautifully built G9 with excellent handling and controls. The image quality is simply inferior to the similarly priced Nikon D7500 that I replaced the G9 with. The metering system is also not as accurate as the Nikon 3D matrix metering

I am hesitating between the a6400 and the fuji xs-10, which are about the same price (around 1000€ with kit lenses) and can't make up my mind.

On the a6400, you have animal eye autofocus and e mount, which could allow me to invest in lenses and possibly upgrade to a sony full frame one day. However many lenses from sigma/tamron do not have ois. How big of an issue is it if the 6400 doesn't have Ibis ?

On the xs-10, the newer bsi sensor, and ibis are the main advantages. I don't know if the lack of animal eye focus would be a big disadvantage for pets and wildlife.

I have considered the a7iii for 2000€ for going directly to full frame, but it is expensive and a new model could arrive soon.

Which one would you choose between those two ?

First camera : Sony a6400 or fuji xs10 for animals and landscapes

0 Lens lens however is disappointing. For a lens of that price, I expect both technical excellence and 'good enough for photos'. It's certainly good enough to create some great images, but aside from it's extra zoom range and great IS, it is not up to the standard of either my old beat up Panasonic 12-35mm F2.8 or a borrowed Olympus 12-40mm f2

The body is great, lens not so much.

- As I mentioned, you *really* want to use Panasonic lenses with this. Unless you've got money to burn, I'd highly recommend the 24-105 f/4 lens to start.

I think I narrowed my choice down to two &lt; $2k options: 1. The Sony A7 III and 2. The Panasonic Lumix S5.

My list of Pros and Cons after a day or so of research:

Pros:

Sony: My neighbor and mom both have A7 IIIs (albeit different versions) so it would be easy to borrow lenses/trade settings secrets, it's a bit cheaper, and it would be very easy to upgrade (without having to sell lenses etc) to the more expensive but camera that I really want, the A7s III.

S5: It seems to be way better at video than the A7 III, and it's a really great value, pretty much all reviews paint it as a better camera than the A7 IIIs

Cons:

Sony: It's old, not as great at video.

S5: AF is not very good, there's not as good of a lens ecosystem, it's more or less the endgame.

Are my Pros and Cons relatively accurate? Is the Sony that much less good than the S5 that it nullifies the ecosystem and price advantage? Is there another camera that could fit my use case as well?

Sony Ecosystem vs. Panasonic S5

Very nice, could be better...

I personally would not recommend the EOS M50 as it is worse in low light than the Panasonic, it loses the advantage of having good AF if you record in 4K, it has no IBIS and it isn't weather-sealed and there aren't a lot of native lenses for the system. Personally, I think Panasonic offers more for less, but if you need good AF for sure, then get one of the Sony cameras.

Best camera under 800 to buy used or new for 4k video idc about 1.6 crop but preferably dslr style I already have a G7X Mii

 The DC 9's autofocus is excellent as is the image quality and stabilization. I have had both the OMD EM I Mk. II and now the DC 9, one can't go wrong with either one.
