It's a very comfortable weight. *Warmth and range: With a midweight long sleeve shirt underneath, I'm comfortable in the high 30s/lower 40s (F), and with a fleece underneath, you can go much lower. I live in northern New England and was able to forgo my heavy winter coat for this combination for most of last winter.

Wanted something Patagonia so I bought this vest vs a normal jacket since I'm in Socal and it's not that cold here. Good layering piece. Not very thick. If you want a vest to keep you really warm, you may want to look at other options. Plus, Patagonia is $$$ so definitely look around.

I bought a M but if you want a looser fit then go up a size. I'm 5,8 160.

Lastly (and this is more of a personal preference thing and less an inherent issue with the materials) the jacket is definitely hefty, easily the heaviest out of all the other insulated jacket options I was considering. I don’t notice this heft at all while wearing it, but definitely do when I have to take it off and carry it. I bought this vest recently and have worn it a lot. Although it does seem to be a bit slimmer fit than the same size Nano Puff Jacket, I love wearing it over a tshirt around the house or town. It provides great warmth for a lightweight vest.

I got a Nano Puff about 6 months ago and it’s been the single best jacket I have ever owned, and probably one of the best pieces of clothing I own. I really like this jacket, the fit is perfect, it’s not too bulky, it packs down small for travel, and it’s been great for the outdoors.

I bought this vest on a sale and a whim. I am really glad I have. In the short time I've had it, I have used it as a layer, I use it with just a t-shirt, I have deeply lounged in it and zipped up or open, it is perfectly comfortable.
