Most modern bookshelf speakers have a built-in power system to provide amplification and volume adjustment to the signal provided by the music playing device. As a result, these are not ready to play sound right out of the box. That said, they have good sound quality, making them an excellent addition to a home theater system or for audiophiles who prefer using a separate, higher quality amplifier than found in most powered speakers. 
The Polk Audio T15 has a neutral design and blends into most interior spaces with ease. However, since these speakers are just a component of a more complex audio system, those seeking a complete package should look elsewhere.  If you want to use these as part of a larger ensemble of speakers, these are likely great for higher frequency sound. If you have the ability to purchase a better speaker without constraints of space to hold them or funds, I'd say go a bit higher on the quality spectrum and get a bigger speaker box with a bigger bass punch.  UPDATE: after 2 months of use, these things have really improved. I’m pretty satisfied

 I’d suggest them to friends and so I suggest them to buyers here too. Breaking them in will take some time but they evolve into good speakers. Get ‘em.

 I had suspected that the silverface would improve all the music I run through it, and it does on my Baby Advents from the 80s, but not on these. I think these speakers are much more articulate in their reproduction, but to a disadvantage for general listening (at least without a bass booster or a more targeted equalizer).  So. If you're looking at these for stand alones, and you need a small dimension speaker, these are fine

Purchased as a stand-alone bookshelf speaker for a medium to large living area. Knew there would be limitations based upon the size of the room vs. the size of the speaker, but had to work with dimensions for the speakers for the shallow bookshelf area.  They sound fairly good

  For full disclosure, I made the mistake of buying these in 2018. They've been relegated to computer speakers driven by a cheap Douk amp I picked up here at Amazon. They are acceptable for this use, but I wish I had saved my money (These were only $99 then), and put that cash towards a better pair from Polk, Klipsch, or ELAC. Throwing your money at the T-15s will just set you back that much more from being able to afford a truly great pair of bookshelf speakers

I see some reviewers offering glowing reports of these entry-level Polk speakers, especially regarding their so-called "bass" response. Don't fall for it. These absolutely do not cut it on their own for anything but the mose superficial bass. Don't count on them to be anything in your home theater set-up other than surrounds, and don't buy them for a music-only system as your mains if you don't use a separate subwoofer

Trust me, if you have bigger needs or expectations, save your money and buy a bigger, better pair of bookshelf speakers. As with everything in life, you get what you pay for, and there are a reason that these T-15s are absolute bottom-tier for Polk in terms of cost and materials

Lacks Bass Response, but Can Work for an Entry Pair of Bookshelf Speakers

Fine as a surround.

 This setup sounds GREAT for low to mid volume level classical music, jazz, and rock. At higher volumes (when the volume knob on the SX-450 goes past 1/3) these speakers can clearly handle it, but they start losing their nice tight mid range definition, that they had at lower volume levels. For people that just like sheer volume and do not particularly care about hi-fi, these speakers can get VERY loud, you could probably give yourself ear damage before you blew them up.  A general advantage of high efficiency speakers, an advantage that these speakers have, is that they sound crisp and tight under low volume settings

  These are 'high efficiency' speakers, meaning that they are louder in comparison at the same volume knob setting than mid and low efficiency speakers. These speakers share the characteristics of other 'high efficiency' speakers in that they sound better at lower volume settings. However, these speakers can get quite loud, but at higher volumes they start to lose definition (meaning that they start to sound a little muddy and lose their crispness).  All that being said, I should tell you how I am using them

sound cheap, no matter how great your system is. In this case, you'll get great speakers at an inexpensive price, and that rarely happens in the world of high end audio. I would also keep in mind what kind of music you listen to. In my case, it's classic rock, blues, and blues rock, so I listen to the high end, guitars especially

 To test for it, I disconnected my subwoofer. The bass response is OK, but they seemed to need just a little more "punch" to them, but overall, I don't have a complaint there. My second thought was that there seemed to be a balance issue between the woofers and the mid-driver and tweeter, so I kinda wish they had an adjustment put on them, just to give them a little more balance. I was sceptical on these when I saw the price point, the thought being that "never scimp on speakers", because cheap speakers will do just that

 Your experience with these would be different if you listen to classical as an example. Overall, you'll get a little more than you paid for here, so, yes, I would for sure recommend these, provided you already have a subwoofer, if not, Polk does have a bundle available with the subwoofer as a part of the bundle, and they are 1-2 models up from these, so you might want to look at those, but if you have the subwoofer already, you really can't go wrong with this bundle, and I don't think you'll beat this price going with another speaker manufacturer. I still kinda wish they had an adjustment on them to balance the woofers and mid-driver and tweeter, but that's using my ears, your experience with them may be different, and once I get another equalizer, I'm sure I can make the adjustment there. So, if you're on the fence about buying these like I was, and you already have a subwoofer, these are worth it

You can't beat the price as a bundle.

 The Klipsch were just so much better. They made the JBL center seem completely inadequate. I often found us turning up volume to get a decent output from the old center. After a little research, I chose the Polk center since it was fairly close in specs to the Klipsch speakers as far as frequency response

 I used a few movies that I know have good sound mixes: Monster U (the dance party scene), Sound of Music (Do Ra Mi meadow scene), Tron (End of Line Club fight scene), and Hunt for Red October (final sub battle scene).  The sound stage was much more cohesive. When the mix moved something through the front from side to side, it held together. Dialogue did not get shoved down even when there was other action

Good choice for home theater above entry level

  I put on a vinyl and was again impressed. The speakers easily handled all the volume I threw their way.  They seem to lack a real punch in low frequency and in a larger area would probably need a subwoofer. However, I was able to compensate for that issue by boosting the base control with my amplifier

 Now, If you have a large room, you can expect to need a subwoofer or another set of speakers. But if your in a small area and want good quality sound in a small, nice looking package, for a great price; look no further.  The only reason I didn’t go with 5 stars was the lack of punch in that e lower frequencies. But if one considers the price, “What’s not to like”?

  The sound was very pleasing. The separation and clarity were fine. The high frequencies never broke up. Cymbal clashes and guitar cords are bright and clear

I admit I was a little concerned about the Polk Audio T15 Speakers. I intended to use them as my only speakers with a Sony STR dh290 Stereo Receiver. And even though the room in which the system would sit is small, about 150 sq ft, I doubted their ability to push put enough good clean sound. They are a two way, base reflex, bookshelf, 100 watt, passive speaker system

What’s not to like?

 They fill small rooms with sound well. They aren't going to be a replacement for high end speakers, but will compete well enough that you won't notice unless they are compared side by side. They are much better than other $100 bookshelves I have heard.  They would also make for a solid addition as surround speakers in a home theater if that was the intention

Purchased to be used in an office/bedroom. Basically the intention was to be able hook them to an amplifier, plug in the computer and stream music or conduct meetings during the day. The bedroom also has a TV in that room so it is also connected to the receiver so that also became an option.  Since the amplifier already has a set of older Klipsch Reference bookshelves, these Polks were intended to be more for the computer

  After a couple days I did push them up closer to the max wattage. The specs state that they are rated at 100 watts peak at 8ohms. I did not hear any distortion the closer these got to peak and the sound stayed solid as the watts climbed.  Conclusion - These are solid speakers for a small space

Solid bookshelf speakers for less than $100

These speakers work wonderfully. As other reviews have mentioned the bass isn't very present and they subsequently benefit from the addition of a subwoofer. However I don't listen at very high volumes so maybe the bass is more present when they're cranked up.  I'm using these with my fluance RT82 turntable, the Fosi Audio phono box x2, Sony's STR-DH190 receiver and Sony's SA-CSD 10" active subwoofer

All in all I have about $600 in this setup from taking advantage of sales and for that price, the sound experience rivals that of a $1000 setup for sure.  The way these speakers are designed, they should be slightly above or below ear level (1 or 2 feet) in order to get the best out of them, I don't have much space so I gotta work with what I got

 Don't hesitate if you're on a budget or if you can spare some coin for a sub, these things are great and they go on sale often.
