It has an extra inside aluminum plate with gasket, perhaps to provide barrier to keep lid vents clean, and a removable and cleanable lid vent filter. It is the easiest to program and the most solidly built pressure cooker we have had over recent years, lid closes firmly into position. We only use them once a month, have had 2 others, both eventually gave error messages for no apparent fault we could find. This one has design enhancements mentioned, and will hopefully outlast the last one which lasted about 5 years, the one before that, a Wolfgang Puck, which died after a couple of years
