This all-white board marks Razer's second entry into the productivity market as an updated version of the Razer Pro Type with a few upgrades including a plushy wrist rest for additional comfort and improved latency for even more responsiveness. 

Inside the board, the linear Razer Yellow switches offer a light typing experience with a short pre-travel distance that's excellent for gaming while also being quiet enough to use in an open office environment. Although the keycaps are ABS, rather than premium PBT, they have a soft-touch covering that feels nice on the fingertips and provides additional grip.

Since this is Razer's foray into productivity keyboards, it does lose some of the more gaming-oriented features like RGB backlighting. Instead, it has bright, white-only backlighting, so you can still read the key legends in the dark, but you can't customize the lighting. Also, the choice of switches is limited only to the Razer Yellow switches, so if you prefer a clicky or a tactile switch, you'll have to look elsewhere. With that said, it's an excellent choice if you're looking for a keyboard to use for both work and play.

If you're looking for a wireless board to use at the office, or as part of your work-from-home setup, we recommend the Razer Pro Type Ultra. This versatile keyboard is packed with features for productivity and for gaming, making it a great choice if you only want one unit to use for work and play.

It connects wirelessly with its dedicated USB receiver, which will also pair with the wireless mice in the Razer Pro Click lineup, and it also supports multi-device pairing with up to three devices using Bluetooth. Though Razer is mostly known for their gaming peripherals, the Razer Pro Type Ultra is designed for office use, so it prioritizes comfort and office functionality but keeps the split-millisecond latency that Razer's known for, making it a versatile choice for both work and play. In terms of its office features, it has a comfortable, detachable wrist rest and soft-touch covering on its keycaps to provide extra grip. It's also a wireless unit with a battery life of over 200 hours when you turn the backlighting off.

Similar to the SteelSeries Apex Pro, this keyboard only comes in one switch option at checkout. However, you can't adjust the sensitivity like you can with the SteelSeries, which is a bit of a downside since the linear Razer Yellow switches are very sensitive to type on. So while you likely won't feel any finger or wrist fatigue during the day, you might find yourself a bit more prone to typos at first until you get used to the keyboard. Though it's comfortable thanks to the included ergonomic features, it isn't very portable, so it's best suited to permanent desk setups.  Razer sent us here in montreal a prototype just to check it out and to give them a little bit of feedback, so it's an early sample, but i've got a couple of opinions about it. First of all, let's talk about that mobile part. The mobile part means two things to me: number one is size and weight because when i'm traveling i've traveled with this thing a few times, those are the two primary things that i'm looking for. Anything that i carry with me has to be lightweight, because i don't want it sort of weighing down my backpack too much and it has to be small well small

 That thing is literally it's exactly the same in terms of shape and features wise, it's a little bit different, but i'll, let mike chime in on his experience using the mx mini a little bit later in the video, but right now i just want to focus on The prototype ultra, because this thing is a really unique piece - that's catered towards a very specific type of audience. So for starters, the design is very sleek and it complements the rest of razer's pro lineup. So the frame is made out of anodized aluminum, while the rest of the chassis is plastic. Build quality is solid, with minimal flex around the frame and, if you're coming from something like you know, a basic 20 to 30 dollar keyboard

 The prototype ultra costs a whopping 160 dollars. Now, if we look at the competition, the first thing that comes to my mind, that competes with the pro click mini is the logitech mx anywhere 3 mouse. That thing is literally it's exactly the same in terms of shape and features wise, it's a little bit different, but i'll, let mike chime in on his experience using the mx mini a little bit later in the video, but right now i just want to focus on The prototype ultra, because this thing is a really unique piece - that's catered towards a very specific type of audience.  This is certainly a huge upgrade. I also like the white and silver contrast since it blends in with the rest of razer's pro lineup, and you can also tell that they've taken a page out of the gaming keyboards. Now this is a full-size keyboard which i'm sure will come in handy for professionals who work with a lot of numbers. I know people who work in the healthcare industry and they rely on numpads

Is it just me or is the Pro Type a piece of shit?

One time during my testing, Synapse 3's battery gauge turned to a red 0% when the keyboard was still about 80% charged, but the glitch never recurred. One quibble that's consistent, though: Synapse obliges you to sign up for a Razer account and contains slightly tacky links to the Razer Store, Razer Gold in-game purchases, and the Razer Silver loyalty rewards program.  So now you have a mix of blue and yellow shining out from under every key and it just looks a bit muddy and ugly. I know they want to be able to say "our yellow switches" to keep in the parlance of the mechanical keyboard world, but they should have been white or clear. And the LEDs should have been neutral white.  EDIT: Software update or something? I can no longer swap my F keys and media keys; the media keys are locked to media keys now and cannot be changed with Synapse software

Pros: extreme skin-friendly key materials, I really loved the feeling when my fingers touched on the keys, and was always hoping to keep my fingers on the keys; very elegant design for minimalist style office; nice white color to fit in bright office environment or to match mac stuff; clear white light for keys, I am not a big fun for RGB lights, and also because I was trying to find a high quality mechanical keyboard for office, so no light or white light would be perfect; clear layout made this keyboard slim to fit limit office desk; the included wrist rest made it easier for a low-profile keyboard lover to enjoy typing on this keyboard; able to connect up to 3 devices from bluetooth, and 1 more from receiver; smaller receiver than other brands, and also provided a small pocket to store the receiver; Cons: Fn keys were fixed as default media keys, you need to employ "fn" key together with F1-F12 to trigger the Fn functions, and there was NO way to switch the Fn keys as primary keys, even with Razer Synapse, you was just able to re-assign those keys to Fn keys, and you would lost media keys by doing so, and most companies would not let you to install external softwares, that would be a big failure as Razer planned this keyboard as an office keyboard; small flaws on manufacture, as I got the key board with a little black spot on the "S" key, it won't be a problem for regular keyboards, but for keyboards at this price, Razer could do better. I loved everything about this keyboard, except the annoying Fn keys design, would consider to buy this keyboard AGAIN if Razer would consider to change this

Not Good for Heavy Excel User

 I can't understand why they would lock the F1-F12 keys, keys used all through the work day, behind a trigger to work.  I downloaded the Razer software just to find that it requires a reprogramming to work differently. There is a profile you can find on the web that allows you to use the Scroll Lock key to toggle between FN and AlwaysOn function keys. But, why? It doesn't stick on reboot and always has to be toggled

.. but even Microsoft Office uses the function keys constantly. even data entry apps use the F1-F12 keys all the time

 It also rendered the FN key useless for toggling them and you have to toggle Scroll Lock on and off just to use multimedia.  Otherwise, this is a quiet keyboard with smooth action and is so just fantastic to type on. It has backlighting, can attach to multiple computers, and wired and wireless options. It comes with a padded palm rest that is very comfortable
