First though, buy a good dedicated espresso grinder. When I had my Appartamento, I used a Eureka Specialitá. Finally, Rocket machines are beautiful, well-made and reliable, but they tend to be expensive for their feature sets.

I upgraded to the rocket because of the good price point (shout out to Seattle Coffee Gear for the great price and pro upgrade package) and the overall larger/more prosumer machine profile. Day 1 with this machine was not a highlight, as I burned my finger really bad with the steam wand on accident, however it’s been a charm ever since!.

I am happy to send the machine back for repair vs DIY. The only reason Rocket is on the list is because there's a very healthy second hand market for these machine here. I expect to lose the same amount of money owning this vs a Breville BES870 if I sell the machine after a year if I am a total failure at making my own coffee or I stop doing it after covid is over. I also plan to either pair the machine with a separate grinder.
