 There's a little bit of something for everyone. The two most appealing features of this keyboard to me are easily the layout and the keycaps. The 70% layout gives users a taste of what a 60% keyboard footprint would be like without having to deal with the navigation keys under a different function layer, which I know a lot of people either don't really like or unsure if they want to commit to. The keycaps are another hit for me

 I know a lot of people rather have the feet built into the case, but I really like these. They're unique and you don't really see them that often. I personally like the default typing height of the RK-71, which is a bit flatter compared to the Ampro 2, but if you do end up using the feet, I found the strength of the magnets were good enough to provide a nice and stable typing experience. When you first pull this keyboard out of the box, the first thing that really sticks out is the layout, and I find this is the most attractive attribute of this keyboard

 The 70% layout gives users a taste of what a 60% keyboard footprint would be like without having to deal with the navigation keys under a different function layer, which I know a lot of people either don't really like or unsure if they want to commit to. The keycaps are another hit for me. Going with Doubleshot ABS is absolutely the right call and really should be replacing painted ABS keycaps as the entry tier option. Keeping the keycaps the same size as traditional keyboards was the right choice as well, as this makes it really easy for you to swap in other keycaps so you're not locked in with the ones included with the keyboard

The Royal Kludge RK71 is a budget friendly mechanical keyboard that is perfect for people that want to try a board that has a smaller foot print but can't fully commit to the 60% layout. The form factor, bluetooth and double shot ABS plastic makes this keyboard hard to beat at under 60 dollars.

Royal Kludge RK71 v2 Review |Good Entry Keyboard for ...

  Royal Kuldge’s niche seems to be making more layouts available than their competitors. RK is really your only choice if you’re looking for a specific sub-TKL layout. But if you can find the layout you want from another brand- buy it instead. Compared to other Chinese competitors this keyboard is expensive and uses lower quality parts

This keyboard isn’t a good deal for what you get. But its probably the only one you’ll find with the key layout you want.  Royal Kuldge’s niche seems to be making more layouts available than their competitors. RK is really your only choice if you’re looking for a specific sub-TKL layout

 It looks like the newer version- likely marked white1- uses a different textured paint with a better feel and less shine. However, the caps still feel cheap. Fortunately, the keycaps are typical size of 3rd party keysets. So you could replace them if you choose

Wanted to love it.

 This is probably an issue with my cheapo Bluetooth dongle vs. MacBook's WiFi chip. - Coming from loud clicky blue switches, the brown switches on these are surprisingly satisfying to type on and much quieter - Keycap font and icons are crisp and clean, unlike those tacky gamer fonts you'll find on others, and is mostly well aligned - USB C - I'm not huge on RGB, but it comes with some cool true RGB effects  NEUTRAL - Keyboard layout is OK. I wish they would've put function keys on another row and kept the tilde key where it usually is

 I'm pretty sure this is a defect on mine and it's not like this on others. - The charging light illuminates half of the spacebar with a bright red light. It's a minor aesthetic negative that I feel could've been placed better (a tiny indicator light on the side or back?) - Spacebar is a little loud with an audible click - Timer on the backlight is not adjustable. I would've assumed it'd at least stay on when it's plugged in

Perfect keyboard for my use at a good value

 I'm sure this was a design compromise: The keyboard is small (so less space for a battery) AND the designers decided to not put the keyboard into uselessly non-responsive sleep mode like my other "compact" bluetooth keyboards, so to accommodate those features/design choices, the battery life has to suffer a bit.  What is NOT a compromise and just plain bad is that connectivity is spotty (i.e., keys sometimes do not register when pressed) AND there are bugs in the firmware that cause the keyboard to just not respond sometimes when switching between bluetooth and wired USB mode, causing me to have to frequently disconnect and reconnect the keyboard or use another keyboard

I had originally given this keyboard 5 stars, but after several weeks now of dealing with these two issues, I found them to be annoying enough to drop down to 2 stars: A keyboard, after all, should be ergonomic and user-friendly device -- the annoyances take all the friendliness out of a potentially great product.

Could be better. No media keys and can't boot into BIOS. Loud as heck.

This keyboard looks very good, with the variety of backlight modes working very well in my experience.  I was able to easily sync it to multiple computers without much trouble, and switching between them is a snap. Macros are a huge help, even if there are only 3 that you can program in at a time. In general: I like the extra features that this keyboard has over cheaper brands and models

 They did a few troubleshooting steps with me and after it was apparent that there was something wrong with mine, I had a new one in hand in a few business days.  Keys are clicky and have a very nice tactile feedback to them when typing. I would recommend this keyboard.

 They just never turned back on after that. USB connection however, the lights stayed on no problem.  Customer support reached out to me to check in on the order and that's when I let them know about my issues. The customer support, I can not stress enough, was amazing
