Vacuum Wars

 Before this, with the exception of the vac mop pro ai used v-slam, which means a top-mounted camera to navigate around - and this is the first one to use lidar, which is a spinning invisible laser, also mounted on the top. Both lidar and v-slam will map your house and help the robot to navigate systematically room by room in more or less straight lines and they're. Both premium features only found on more expensive robot vacuums. Both systems have their pros and cons and are really quite similar, but in this case i think the lidar system is a big step up from shark's previous system in terms of navigation

 I did find it to be good, but not perfect. You will still need to regularly keep it clean. In my opinion, if you have longer hair the biggest pro for the shark, ai robot vacuum, though, is the price shark seems to be engineering, robot vacuums that are good enough at incredibly low prices, they're, usually not the best robots in every respect, but shark robot vacuums Have consistently been the best in terms of bang for the buck, in my opinion, and the same is true here, especially if you catch it, while it's on sale before i get to the negative stuff, one quick note on the ai in its name. As far as i can tell, this is more or less marketing speak

 It cleans both hard floors and carpets really well and when you combine all the navigation and scheduling features with its high quality, auto empty bin.  In and it sucks the debris out of the bin into the base, this one is a newly designed large capacity bin from shark, which they say can hold up to 60 days worth of debris and it's one of the only bagless auto empty bins on the market. So there's no bags to buy you just empty the bin directly into the trash. It'S also a complete hepa bin, which is only advertised with premium manufacturers. I'Ve been testing this regularly at my house and in almost every case it completely empties the bin of pet hair

Shark AI Self-Empty XL RV2502AE Review

If I move it to a shared hall to clean (I try to do several halls once per week), its battery dies WAY faster than the old models did, so I can't just pass by and move it to different spots between other chores like I did with the old one - if I have to stand guard over the vacuum, what is the point of not just sweeping it myself? If I do one area, this model is usually dead before I get it to a second one. I used to be able to do them all with the same time between moving with an old model.

The deep clean is okay I guess, but it can't consistently clean up after a hair trim involving hair clipped by only about 1/4 inch or less than a cm.

It's a downgrade.

 And that's it. I'm not trying to get this thing to launch into orbit. When I downloaded the app, it could not vacuum our house without first doing a "room mapping". Why?

 I upgraded from an older, basic Deebot model that was starting to give me charging problems. This new robot is massive compared to our older model. Taller and wider. Because of the stupid radar thing at the top of the robot, it will no longer fit under our couch and ottoman

Sometimes Less is More

Shark doesn't advertise the power of their vacuum as everyone else does but it is definitely less than my older Eufy since I can see the nap pulled up on my throw rugs whereas with the Shark I do not - just wheel marks.

 It picks this up well. I'm emptying the vacuum box about every 5 days so this is working effectively and I don't see the hair across the floor in sunlight as I used to.

- When cleaning the filter on the vac, there is a ledge/overlay that massively gets full of debris (in my case short dog hair). I don't understand the purpose of this overlay but the auto-clean isn't strong enough to clean it out and I need to do it manually.

Not thrilled but best for the price

 The Shark gets set up with an APP. The app will let me know if there is a problem - stuck, clogged etc - though if I am not home there is nothing I cam do about it so not any more helpful than Roomba. The Shark is more labor intensive with filters, cleaning, clearing path for dustbin to empty. Overall, i am not so impressed

Downside: Sharkira picks up in 1 week what the Roomba picked up in 3 days. She fails to get the edges well - almost like the side brushes are too short or not angled correctly. Though the bulk of the dust amd hair goes into the large base bin at the end of the run, you still need to tap out the filters as freq as with the Roomba. So I question what the real benefit is of the large base bin

I am still trying to find replacement filters and parts on Amazon that have more than 100-200 reviews - no longevity of replacement parts noted

Bells and whistles do not make easier to use

 If I wasn't here at the house to baby it, it would be very frustrating. The sad truth is that if I just swept and vacuumed myself, I would finish in less than half the time this Shark takes. If you want something you can just schedule to vacuum and forget while you're at work, I would look elsewhere.

After a year of use...a lesson in patience

. You want to vacuum high traffic areas every day then do certain rooms on other days..

  The Shark noise level is about 30% of the Roomba S9+. Which I was surprised and very happy about. The Roomba S9+ is so loud but this Shark is so quiet! The time it took the Shark to map the house was about 20 mins compared to Roomba's 5 hours. Overall, the Shark is very nice and I think I am going to be very happy with the product (asides from the app)

 not happening with this app. You will have to log into the app and manually tell it to vacuum the rooms. This is my biggest complaint about this product. I really hope they fix this

Better than the Roomba S9+ but the app is it's biggest downfall

I have mixed feelings about this robot, who we named Hank (you are supposed to name him for the app). I find him to be quieter than a regular vacuum, and the suction in normal mode is very good. Our carpets and hardwood floors get very clean. However, he seems to suffer from some form of dementia

 We have had him map our very small 1-story home twice, have labeled the rooms that we want cleaned. He starts out great. Does the living room, moves on to the bedroom, and begins the kitchen. So far so good
