The Shure SM58 is a very common option, but you would need an audio recorder with it. If you want an all in one device, a handheld recorder like a Zoom H1n or a Tascam DR05 or something may work, you'd just use it the same way and they'd speak directly into it. Most cities have rental options, and lots of this stuff rents for pennies on the dollar.

FWIW, years go, before I knew my ass from a hole in the ground, we used a Shure SM58 with a Cloudlifter plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and it sounded...not good. It's by far the best mic for screaming into onstage or hammering nails with, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for podcasting. There are better options out there, like the Samson Q2U.

So, yes by the time I'm finished recording I'm usually covered in a pool of sweat. I initially bought the mic after reading reviews that suggested the mic would be able to record with a ceiling fan running. From my miserable experience, I now think that this is extremely untrue.
