Tell me what do you think about the Sony A7s3? Is it a Yay or an A?

But while shooting my first gig wich is mostly real estate & music video for what I "need" slow motion footage for really smooth images I realised that the 1080p120 quality isnt really that good. Watching a compressed youtube version of that video is really not pleasant. I tried training real estate videos in 4k30 by just moving really slow but that often ruins the shot because I think its actually kinda hard to keep the image stabilized when moving that slow. I mostly shoot in 1080p120 now what feels like limiting the a7iii but i guess the 4k60 will look much "better" than the 1080p120.

- Sell both cameras/lens and invest into a **Sony A7s iii**. It’s the most obvious choice for the mirrorless ecosystem I’m in and a great all-around setup for my work, which is semi-pro, small side projects. I’m not a great photographer in any sense so the stills capability would be more used in hobby situations. The video capability of the A7s is well beyond mine and would be a solid, years-long investment.

It is a very solid choice. If that were the case I'd have gone with an A7s III Sony anyway. The M6 Mark II is much more recent than the R and RP, which don't have advantages until you get to using RF L-Series glass.

Sony Alpha 1 and A7S III can. PS: If this is out of your league, take a look at Panasonic Lumix S1(R) and GH5, Fujifilm X-T3 and X-T4, Canon EOS R5 and R6, Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II, Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and 6K. There are cheaper options than Sony at the moment. Otherwise take a look at Sony FX3 and above.

Hi u/Sebastian83100 - instead of buying a low end camera, I recommend you [rent an a7s III with a gimbal, mic and lens for about $400 per week from - and include the cost of the rental in your price. The tools and ergonomics felt exactly right - and I really enjoyed the fully articulating screen (which I didn't expect). Images that I reviewed in the field (on the back LCD) seemed to be extremely accurate to how the raw would appear in LR. Additionally, the starting point of the camera's color rendition felt more natural to my editing style - Making it extremely easy to push the image toward my desired end result.

If you're in the US, I believe it goes for $3898. It's like a budget cinema camera (although it is missing some pretty standard cinema camera features to be honest) that has a better form factor and features than the A7S III. The A7S III is still more geared toward hybrid shooters who do just as much photo as video, while the FX3 is geared toward video shooters. But both the A7S III and FX3 shoot 4K120 and are fantastic in low light.
