 Now, let's talk about how this camera performs. Sony's Alpha cameras are renowned for their autofocus and shooting performance, and the A7IV continues that tradition, except in one area. The new 33-megapixel sensor is backside-illuminated, but not stacked like the sensor on the A1, so readout speeds are relatively slow. As a result, shooting speeds are still 10 frames per second in either mechanical or electronic shutter modes for compressed RAW photos, and drop to 6 frames per second if you use lossless or uncompressed RAW

 As before, it can shoot down-sampled 4K video at up to 30p using the full width of the sensor, meaning video is extremely sharp. But now it can capture that video at 422 10-bit with Sony's S-Log, so it's much easier to stretch and pull in post-production. With 13 stops of dynamic range in Sony's S-Log3 mode, along with 10-bit 422 color and reasonably high bit rates up to 500 megabits per second, image quality is superb and easy to control in post. The lack of noise at high ISO ranges is a huge plus, making the camera usable in a lot more situations

Sony A7 IV review: A nearly perfect hybrid powerhouse

I've been shooting on my phone until now but find it limiting to get shots I want and edit them later. I've been wanting to get a digital camera and start doing photography as a hobby. I waited for the Sony a7IV release and want to get a full frame camera so that it can expand to suit all my photography needs. I mainly want to shoot street photography weekly but I'm also interested in architecture photography, macro photography, food photography, landscape photography and also grab travel shots and portraits in a while.

Recently i've been eyeing out the Fujifilm X100V, which looks like the perfect starter camera. I love the ASTIA and ACROS film simulations it provides and due it being more compact than a7IV, it won't catch as many eyes when shooting. Also it has 35mm fixed and as a beginner, I heard it'll make me move move more and get a grip on composition and master the 35mm. But, I can also get a prime lens on a7IV to achieve the same.

Should I get the X100V and learn to shoot and edit with it for a year and then get a full frame or get the a7IV right away with a 24-70 lens and shoot with that for a year. I will get the Sony later even after getting the X100V as I want to shoot more stuff and 35mm won't fulfil all my needs, especially while travelling. I think getting the X100V will make me carry the camera everywhere due to it's compactness and make take more shots and after I get a a7IV, I won't be needing a 35mm prime as I can just use the Fuji. But also think getting a a7IV with a 24-70 lens and using that for a year will allow me to play around with different focal length and make me comfortable with the camera I want to get.

I'm planning to make the purchase in the second quarter of 2021. Currently I don't plan to use the video as I want to get into videography after getting comfortable with photography.

Any advice on this matter is appreciated.

<p>Edit: I thank everyone who dropped their advice. Based on your suggestions, I won&#39;t get a fixed-lens camera starting out so I&#39;m dropping on getting X100V. I&#39;ll look into getting a used a7III, but if the price difference is less than $600, I&#39;ll just get a new a7IV.</p>

Ease into photography with Fujifilm X100V or get the Sony Alpha a7IV

Initial impressions are good. Still under evaluation.  After using the camera with some test pictures, I decided at for the price I do not get sharp enough pictures. What I observed was an image in-focus on the right side of the screen and out of focus on the left side

Almost a Keeper

 I know that when I reviewed the Panasonic S1, which is also $2,500 US, the same price as this new camera, I said that the S1, which also has a crop in 4K60, was just one Sony autofocus system away from being the perfect camera for a lot of people. And finally, I know that if you're someone like me who got the a1 to get 8K oversampled footage for locked off tripod shots at lower ISOs, but that wanted the versatility of using that camera for high resolution stills with great autofocus when needed, someone for whom rolling shutter and 4K60 doesn't play that big of a role, then this camera could actually easily replace both of my a1s, saving me $4,000 each. And on top of that, I'd gain the focus breathing correction, which is useful for this type of video. In fact, I'd even say that if you need good autofocus and shoot on a tripod, this camera offers the best image quality you can get for the money right now

I need something that won't go obsolete in the following years. I want a mirrorless camera. 

I've read many peoples opinions and many recommend the X-T20 but I don't know I need some serious guidence in this .

 So many people switched from Canon and Nikon DSLRs to the Sony mirrorless system and that's really what propelled Sony to being the number one mirrorless camera company and they finally updated it. We're gonna put it up against the a7III with wildlife, portraits, focusing and compare some of the new features that it has like some new buttons, the new price point and some other things too.  Thus handheld low-light the Sony a7III seems like the better buy. What do you think? Should people upgrade from the a7III to the a7IV? I think that if they're going to benefit from the improved autofocus and if they would appreciate the tilt screen, the extra megapixels, then yeah they should go for it. I think sports and wildlife no doubt totally worth the upgrade. For portraits unless you're having a specific problem that the a7IV would solve you probably don't need to upgrade

Overheating makes it unreliable

 Likewise, for shooting portraits here, we can see that I... Obviously, we saw a very good consistency in terms of focus, but you can also see there's lots of detail here for portrait work, and one final shot of Loki

 You can nitpick and say that the viewfinder resolution and the LCD screen resolution should be better still, but the point is is that they are improved from previous iterations of the camera. I don't love the fact that there is a crop factor at 4K 60, but we finally move beyond 4K 30 in the lineup, and so we have a whole lot more different options when it comes to the video performance as we've detailed. So at the end of the day, the list of strengths of this camera is a very long one, and you would see that if you look at, I always break down pros and cons at the end of my text reviews, and the list of pros for this camera is huge, while the list of cons is very minimal, because in my time with the camera, there's been a lot that I've loved, very little that I've disliked, and so yes, it has moved upscale in terms of its price point, 2,500 relative to around $2,000 for the a7 III, but you're also, I think, getting a whole lot more camera for your money, and I also think that Sony is maybe doing a little bit better job of creating some market separation for what will be their actual entry-level full-frame camera, be it the a7C, a successor, or even something else, whereas there's been some muddying of the waters between a camera like the a7C and the a7 III, and I think that this market distinction is actually going to be a good one, and the reality is that this is a lot of camera for 2,500 US dollars.
