 First off the placement is exactly the same as 100 It's very awkward having it on top Makes it impossible to see the screen when the camera is actually above your height unless you get on a step ladder And if you turn it 90 degrees to face the operator, you cannot tilt it at all It only tilts facing the front or facing the back So you need to get yourself a monitor or a Zakuta EVF to see what you're actually shooting Because where that screen is it's simply in the wrong position In theory creating an electronic viewfinder by adding a loop onto the LCD screen is a great idea It's not great in practice, so it's a little bit plasticky and you're basically magnifying a screen which itself isn't that good It's not that the screen itself is bad It's just not great and if you're going to stick a plastic loop on it, which is going to magnify it It's just going to make it look even more average It's not detailed enough not sharp enough and if you use the peaking on the camera It only has colored edge peaking which you can change the color of but it's too strong And if you use that you really can't tell what on earth you're shooting. It really isn't a stills camera It's a great video camera. Stills, stick with the DSLRs Sony's implementation of the ABC HD internal recording is actually very good It holds up really quite well considering the low bit rate Personally, though, I would much rather have a nice rock solid higher bit rate with 422 color space I had no expectations that it would have it in this camera I'm sure Sony is saving it for perhaps an f3 replacement So for the FS100 upgraders, you have to look at the features of what this new camera offers and decide Is it worth the extra money and selling your camera? Do you need that super slow motion? Do you need those ND filters? Do you need perhaps the ability to output at 4k at some point? If you can get away without any of those the FS100 is absolutely fine It's still a great camera and ergonomically it's exactly the same So if you've already got it and you're happy with it and you don't need the new features then stick with it But if you need those features and those features are very cool, then there's definite value in that upgrade As for the rest of us, well, it's 9.35

Sony FS700 Review: Pros and Cons

 The LCD screen is not great for focussing (like the EA50), but is usable due to focus peaking, and much better than something like the Panasonic HMC 150 has.  There are certainly better cameras available for much more money, but if you are a low budget operation this affordable camera delivers a pretty heavy punch. I am grateful it came down in price enough that I could step up my game with it.  I would not hesitate to purchase it again

 If you record externally, the image is just way better. We're talking 4K, 120 frames per second in 12-bit raw. Sony, you released this in 2012, how? And yeah, I'm gonna stop recording this video before I go pass out.  So if you recorded something that was absolute garbage, if you'd recorded something that was junk, you don't have to wait a long time before you can start recording again. You can just click cancel and even if you do click cancel, everything that you recorded before you click cancel is still written to the card so you're not losing all the information.  I really wish I could get a dedicated cage for this camera, but I'm not about to spill out two, three grand for a camera cage. But you know what, I've been really downplaying the quality that comes out of this camera because all I've been saying is that it doesn't shoot 4K, but what it does shoot is a really beautiful and really high and dynamic range HD image. To be completely honest, I would rather take the image coming out of this camera, the HD eight bit colors coming from this rather than taking the 4K 10 bit colors coming from the Panasonic GH5. There's so much more dynamic range and the colors look fantastic from this camera

 Something I will complain about is the price of accessories for a camera like this. Yes, right now this camera is priced similarly to these mirrorless and DSLR cameras. However, the accessories are not. To buy a cage or to buy a shoulder rig, something like this that is able to support a camera like this costs thousands of dollars

Sony Fs700 Review // Is It Worth Buying Today?

If you need slow motion... look no further!!!

 It takes your video and turns it into buttery, smooth, cool looking images and you can basically take anything and make it look like a million bucks. Now it does do 1080p with the 240 frames per second but anything above that, it's just really unusable. The camera said that it goes up to 960 frames per second but I've never even tried it just because I've seen some of the other videos on YouTube and it's just not worth it. Now also the ND filters, the built in ND filters also are an amazing addition to this camera because the FS100 did not have those and you also had to use filters on the lens which was always a hassle because you don't want to have to worry about switching out your lenses or switching out filters on your lenses to get the right type of effect that you want for bright outdoor situations

 You don't really have any options. So I really don't like that because when you're using things like a VideoMic Pro or any type of other small shotgun microphones like when you're trying to do some glide cam shots and you just want a reference microphone on the top of your camera you know you can't use anything small like that you have to use an XLR which is going to add more weight and of course you know just give you a much bulkier setup. Now another big space waster for me on the FS700 I have a big problem with the RCA jacks out on the back of the camera. Now I know some of you may say oh you know it doesn't really matter because I don't use that anyway and that is exactly my point

 The photo mode it's nice to be able to have reference photos for post production for like thumbnails and stuff like that but honestly I think the photo mode on here is just absolutely useless you don't have a whole lot of flexibility. I mean yeah you can change your indie filters and your shutter speed and things like that but it's just if you want photos I would definitely recommend getting a cheap DSLR like a Canon T2i or something like that. I mean you'll get much better image quality and your pictures will really come out a lot nicer it's just the photo mode is just it's useless to me and the photo buttons that are used on the side hand grip also are just a waste of space to me like I could use that those buttons to control like my ISO or my shutter speed or something like that that would be much more useful to me rather than just having a photo button on that hand grip. With that being said the FS700 is a good camera there's just a few things that you really want to pay attention to before you decide that you want to buy or rent or even use or whatever you're going to do with this camera definitely take those things into consideration but all in all the slow motion feature the indie filters the top handle grip those are definitely the best highlights the image quality also in this camera is fantastic that is definitely what you're looking for I mean if what you're looking for is a camera with great slow motion capabilities or if you want something that just has really good image quality outdoors not indoors then this may be the camera that you want to consider but also $6500 I don't know personally I think I would stick with the Canon C100 mark 2 but it's up to you let me know what you guys's impression of the Sony NEX FS700 is and whether or not you would buy it just leave a comment in the comment section below and I will see y'all later take it easy also I really can't f- what? no!

 Are you 4K ready? But, are you 4K ready? I'm not 4K ready myself. I don't have any 4K screens or anything else like that, but this camera is 4K ready. What does that mean? Basically, the camera can output a 4K native resolution out of the new 3G STI connector at the back. It will need a dedicated recorder though

Why bother getting such an old camera at the end of 2020, especially when all these new cameras are coming out, left and right, we're going to full frame. What's the significance of getting something this old? So that's what this video is going to be about. So this is my second go around with a Sony FS700

 Back in 2014, I was shooting this feature and I knew we needed a high speed option and the pictures here shows the FS700 rig that I owned or that I acquired for that show at that time. And this was how I set up the camera with an EVF PL mount, of course, the Odyssey 7 Q Recorder and Anton Bowers. So the real question is, how good are the images from the FS700 even going raw out to an external recorder? So let's take a look at some of the shots from that film. Break it up

$1K Cinema Camera for 2021

 The first is the bulk. This camera isn't you know too bad on its own but once you add a recorder a lens maybe a Metabones adapter a way to power your camera and recorder this thing bulks up really quick. It is super fun using something this big because it just feels good in the hands nice weighted image no need for in-body stabilization but it is a lot to handle and it's going to kill you if you're going to be filming all day with this setup. The second issue I take with this camera is going to be the noise

 For under $2,000 you can get a camera and recorder and be able to record 4k raw at 120 and all those other crazy things we talked about in this video. So at the end of the day there are however two things that I do not like about this camera and you might want to consider before running out to buy one before they all inevitably run out on eBay today or in the next week.  It allows you to output 4k and raw video over the SDI connection on this camera. So try to get the R version or you can try to find an FS700U that has already been upgraded. So you can actually send in even today the FS700U to Sony and they can upgrade it to an R essentially and that'll allow you to get 4k and that raw recording. But I would avoid buying a non-upgraded FS700

 This is the Sony PMW FS700 and it was first announced in 2012 with a starting price of $8,000. I bought this particular FS700 for $1,000 and in this video we're going to see if this eight-year-old cinema camera is worth buying in 2020 and beyond.
