 Why would you like this game star realms in all its versions, is an excellent deck building game that crams a lot of decisions and fun into a very short time frame? It'S also pretty easy to teach and has simple core rules. The four factions are quite distinct, with red being all about tough bases and trimming. Weak cards from your deck, yellow about drawing cards and making your opponent discard blue, focuses on money and regaining authority and green is all about the damage and that leads to the core fun of this game. Deciding how to build your deck and what combos to include

 As the game evolves and the game constantly accelerates, you get from doing 1 damage in the first few turns to 20 or more later in the game. The best thing about this game, as it captures the feeling of playing casual magic, the gathering without the pressure to spend more money. However, you are at the mercy of what cards are face up on the table when your turn comes around. If you really want more blue and yellow cards and the table is all green too bad and the authority cards in the original star realms are just a pain to use, there's a bunch of different expansions and versions which could be confusing and I recommend getting frontiers

I would also like to mention **Star Realms** - it's a light deckbuilder, great addition to this low components-high gameplay list.

Last game in my list is **The King Is Dead** (second edition). Ot's one of the most well-thought games built with only a bunch of components (few cards, tokens, single board, that's it). Great, great game. Big replay value, two ways to win, highly strategic

I'm tired of keeping track of every single token and every single card on the board game. The more I think about it, the more I find it annoying and that it sucks the fun out of great games.

Depth without a lot of cards/tokens?

 I go to set up my first game with the physical deck, and I don't have enough Scouts for both players to have a full starting deck, and I'm also missing half the Explorers. I haven't gone through the whole deck yet to see what else I'm missing, but needless to say I'm disappointed.  The game is itself a 5/5 all day. The product I received is 3/5, for the missing cards

 Then I also have to combat power, which I will strike my opponents Authority knocking at them from 50 down to 48. All of these get placed into my draw pile, and normally what I would do is I would go ahead and shuffle and get my five cards ready for my next turn, one two three four five all right, but I cannot turn them over yet and we come Back to player ones, the third turn he draws cards. He only has two so now he has to shuffle the cards that he has in his discard pile and continue drawing up to five. So there's three more and we go ahead and turn them over all right

 I would be able to play during my actions, so I'm going to go ahead and purchase this for five one, two, three four five and then I'm going to hit my opponent for one which takes them down to 51. So now it's 51 to 51 and that's the end of my turn and in that fashion we would continue until one person's Authority got down to zero and I, as you can already imagine, we actually have more authority now than we did when we started the game And you'll find that that happens frequently, however, you'll also find that once combos begin to take effect once those ally effects begin to start comboing with each other, you can score twenty thirty points of damage in one turn, of course, that is a very good turn, but It can happen so don't think that this is a long-drawn-out game. This is a very quick two-player game. You can probably get a game in in less than twenty minutes, probably closer to 15 minutes, depending on the level of experience of the players

 So I have three purchasing power. We'Re just going to go ahead and go with the embassy yacht for three and that's all I can purchase. Then I also have to combat power, which I will strike my opponents Authority knocking at them from 50 down to 48.  It just slowed the game down, and so I downloaded a life counter app from the Play Store, and I use that on my phone now to keep track of Authority and the whole point of the game is to whittle down your opponent's fleet power so that they Have no power left and you have thus defeated them now, as we begin the game, the first person draws three cards. There is an advantage to going. First, you get to buy first, you get to attack first, so to balance that advantage out a little bit. You can only draw three cards

Third and last I'd say to check out **Summoner Wars**. It's not exactly a card game since it does have a board and unit positioning but the game is very good and worth looking into. It just got a 2.0 version

What is the most popular competitive deck building game?

 Since new trade cards are drawn to replace purchased cards, you never know what’s going to come up making each game satisfying random and unpredictable. For you experienced deck-builder gamers out there, you’ll be pleased to know that yes, you can scrap cards to remove dead-weight from your deck.  “Star Realms” starts out a bit slow (one damage here, two damage there) but after about fifteen minutes…whoa boy, watch the damage numbers fly! It quickly becomes a race to see who can out-damage the other guy (or girl) more quickly, making me rethink my strategy to invest in a lot of cards that yield money. Still, the player will have plenty to think about, what with the faction bonuses and the ever-changing pool of available trade cards

More recently I've enjoyed War Chest and the Undaunted series as unique takes onways to leverage the idea of deck/bag building. *Dune: Imperium* has been fun too though the number of potential combos you can build into your deck felt somewhat limited.

What's your favourite deckbuilder?

 I've played about 20 games so far with this set and I've been a bit disappointed at the unevenness of the matches. Well it does seem that the better player generally wins, they usually win by a landslide. I wish the games were more nailbiting down to the wire type affairs. All of that said I have already ordered the extra cards here on Amazon as well as pre-ordered all of the crisis expansion packs

One of the best deck builders, but flawed

I'm finding myself less and less motivated to play video games. There's so much stress and time management in games like Destiny and Overwatch that it's become more of a chore than entertainment for me. That being said, I want to pick up a card-based game that I can relax and play whenever I'm in the mood, either alone or with a friend. Having limited experience with card-based games, I'd like to start with something that'd be considered entry-level, or one that has a large enough online community that can walk me through the learning experience. 

Anyway, I joined this sub-reddit to get some opinions, as well as some thoughts toward a couple games I've been eyeing the last couple days...

The primary concern I have with all 4 of these are their price to content ratio. I don't want to feel as if it's a requirement to buy expansion after expansion so that the fun doesn't dry out. So, which of these games (if any) are absolutely worth my time? Which of these feel like the core set is enough? Is there something else you'd suggest I check out?

Little burnt out on Video Games, what's some 1-2 player card games to occupy my free time?

 I filed for a replacement, and when the replacement came, I thankfully had the right cards. But there are also 2 rules pamphlets included, and in my replacement copy, I received two of the same pamphlets, rather than one for 2 player rules and one for multiplayer rules. I was able to take the missing pamphlet from my first defective copy, so not a big deal, but I'm just kind of shocked at how common mistakes like these are that it could happen twice in a row. Overall, highly recommend the game, but don't be surprised if you need to get a replacement due to poor quality control

 The cards are split into 2 sealed packs, and the idea is that the two packs are different and together they make up all the cards for the game. Well, the two sealed packs in my game were the same, so I was missing essential cards and couldn't play. I filed for a replacement, and when the replacement came, I thankfully had the right cards.
