 So right now I've got some Dave Brubeck I think I got everything on we'll get some sound going just move it over. Oh yeah one of the things that I forgot to mention is when I got the turntable that tone arm when you dropped it it went like a rock. So I went online and I'll post this down in the comments section below there's a guy named Amorphius and he did a service on his turntable looks like this one 1600 where he actually took this whole tone arm assembly off and put a like some like a grease actually that helps to slow the drop of that turntable actually the tone arm. So here we go Dave Brubeck

1, I'll put a picture up here so you can kind of see it. It's a belt drive, it's very very nice turntable, has a very heavy aluminum platter. You have to screw the record down and a bunch of other things and so I was kind of thinking well this is a great turntable but what if I got something else, should I go up and buy something more expensive and unique for VPI? Well luckily I was influenced by a couple of friends. One of my friends is Arthur, actually we met through the VPI turntable Facebook site and Arthur lives pretty close by so we've developed a good friendship and appreciation for stereo gear and collecting records

 Now this particular LP is very important to me I have other copies of this I got a lot of Brubeck but I don't know if you notice it this is a six eye notice the three eyes on either side I bought this shoot I think it was on Discogs.com from somebody and it's the original LP came out I think in 1959 this is a reissue of 1960 so just to show you again I'm going to do this demo and the screen is going to move but hopefully the sound is I'm going to jump up and down on my wooden floor and you see or can you hear if this actually moves the needle so here we go yeah looks pretty good looks pretty good all right so there you have it it's working pretty good and the tone arms working just flawlessly dropping really nice and it's it's a final project and thanks to Arthur for inspiring me to think about techniques thanks to Robert for thinking me and my my stereo drug habit of acquiring gear and thanks to those folks like Tom from Northridge Electronics that helped restore this to its original condition and there you have it so thanks for listening I'll have some other videos coming up I'm going to be restoring a Pioneer CTF 950 cassette deck and then also I'm going to talk about a DAC I have a my tech DAC digital to analog converter brand new and that's kind of a nice thing that goes with my complete stereo system so thanks for listening hope you enjoyed the video look forward to getting your comments below and like say I'll put some links down below to to help you out if you're interested thanks again have a good time and stay home be safe bye bye you

I've been looking to buy a turntable to start vinyl. So far I've seen a lot of talk about the lp-60x, but some people seam to not like it much. Ive always heard that buying used was pretty good for turntables and heard a lot about technics. so I was looking on ebay but I'm not really sure what to look for.

Buying a used turntable

Yeah, I lucked out 6 years ago when I got my Technics SL-1800 on eBay for $180 in perfect working condition. One new stylus later and it was the best turntable I had ever heard. Now, it has an AT VM750SH cartridge and still working great with barely any maintenance.

I feel as though I'm having trouble finding decent vintage TTs for a good price on eBay. In 2015 I was able to buy a Technics SL-D3 for $100. In 2017 I picked up a Pioneer PL-L800 for $100. Now, virtually nothing exists at that price point, and much of the $100-$200 range is lightweight trash or has severe issues. Has the market really changed so significantly in just five years? I would be willing to pay up to $400 for the right turntable, but to me that would be a quartz-locked, direct drive, fully automatic unit in good shape with intact dust cover.

<p>Update: After about two weeks of regularly checking the new listings I pounced on a &quot;tested and working&quot; Pioneer PL-400 listed for $115. Checks all the boxes for me: DD, quartz, full auto, 1/2&quot; mount headshell, and NOT exorbitantly priced. I&#39;m glad I didn&#39;t jump on any of those $350 SL-J2s... Now that is the kind of deal I remember getting years ago. Didn&#39;t realize how much harder things were these days.</p>

I have a Fluance RT-81 that I bought in July of 2019 for $210. This has been a daily driver for me and I thoroughly enjoy it. I've been eyeballing the AT-VM95ML cartridge / head combo for $200. I was thinking of the combo so I could do quick A/B listening of different cartridges. My belt drive is still consistent when tested with the turntabulator app. Anyway, curious if the upgrade is too much or should I consider a new TT? I prefer the looks the Fluance. A quick look did not find a TT with  a ML cartridge stock so hence my question. I could go with the RT-84/85 with the Nude Elliptical stylus of the Ortofon 2M Blue but I don't really find the juice worth the squeeze with entire upgrade.

Hi all! I'm interested in getting my first turntable, after collecting vinyls for a while. I've already got my pre-amp, receiver/amp, headphone amp, speakers, everything worked out. I literally just need a table now.

Was hoping to spend in the &lt;$300 range if possible, and considered a Fluance RT82T but the black one I wanted is out of stock right now.

Did a bit of hunting, and it seems like there is a Yamaha YP-211 (the Marantz/CEC one I think) available for $250 in my area. There also seems to be someone letting a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon (original, not evo) with an acrylic platter go for $250. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me, just wanted to get some second opinions before I jump on one of these? Advice is welcome, thank you!

<p>Edit - thanks for the advice and recs folks! I ended up springing for the Pro-Ject DC because it was a good local deal. I set it up last night and it sounds wonderful, I’m super happy with it. Happy listening everyone :)</p>
