 Technics SL5 direct-drive automatic linear tracking turntable. Not really quite sure if it's linear tracking but the arm moves across on the door and it holds the cartridge of course which is an Ortofon. I forget which one. Easy to use

Best kept secret of the audiophile world. Technics SL-1200 and it's cousins are excellent sounding decks. 

Recent pickup for $250 - whether you are just getting into audio or been down the rabbit hole for awhile I can’t recommend this line of Technics turntables enough!

Technics SL 1210's are good for audiophile listening or just because they are legends (for djs)? they are still club standard: good pitch. nice torque... they are like a work horse.   i was hoping mk7 would be cheaper, so i can get a new pair.

For djing, they are still the best in the town, but tbh for home listening i think i would prefer something with auto return (however i always use dj turntables from technics  - now audio technica - for listening and dj'ing)

Got my hands on a super mint Technics SL-1210MK2 from 2009!

I am looking to start a vintage HiFi setup so I started checking local thrift stores first. I got this Technics reciever for $60 do you think it was a good investment?? 

I am still sad somebody beat me to purchase a pair for Celestion Dl8 Series 2 speakers for $50. Hopefully I can find something soon I was thinking maybe a pair of Kef C75's would be great at starting out. Who knew this would be so fun and I'm not even at the listening part yet lol.

My first purchase from a thrift store, $60 how'd I do?

I realized that I have a decent budget hi-fi setup built around a turntable, but I have a stack of CDs that I don't have a way of enjoying. Any suggestions regarding a CD player? The only real requirement is that since it is out in the open, that it looks fairly decent. Thanks in advance!
