 The tracpad was also good, I don't understand the general dislike against it's texture - after about a minute of use I no-longer felt the fine grain on it. The removal of the function and delete key did not have a major impact on the 'functionality' of the device, and the chrome specific keys in place of them were helpful. 9/10. Love my first chromebook but the fan noise is annoying.

 Keyboard is reasonably comfortable. However, will take some getting used to because layout is slightly different than traditional keyboard layout found on laptop PCs. No ALL CAPS key, instead a "search" key in its place.  I would cautiously recommend this device to other people looking for a good Chromebook

BUYER BEWARE. Price fluctuates. Quality inconsistent.

  First two day's have each given me approximately six to seven hours of battery life, with about 20% or so remaining (according to the meter). Movies obviously take their toll.  Now onto CHROME: Super fast boot up.

 For comparison, our other laptop has only b/g/n. SpeedTest.net has our standard one at 52MBS, while the Toshiba clocks in a 155MBS! I've had a dozen tabs open, plus a movie on and this thing doesn't break a sweat. A big thumbs up!  Have had a couple of drops on day one, but it re-connected immediately

 The Toshiba identified both our 2.4 and 5ghz network connections and the 5 is smoking fast. For comparison, our other laptop has only b/g/n. SpeedTest

  -UPDATE (May 28, 2016): After ~5 months of heavy use (~8 hours daily) and I am pleased with the performance! I can now just barely hear the fan in a very quiet room where as before I was totally unaware it was even running. It is still very quiet though and nothing like my old lenovo.  -There are trackpad “dead zones.” On both sides, there are half-inch vertical strips where the trackpad does not work. Took me a few weeks to notice, definitely a bummer. -Opening this Chromebook is difficult

  Toshiba CB2 Cons: -The trackpad physical click isn't great. If you tap hard, it sounds unpleasantly like a click but you have to press much harder to get it to physically click which makes dragging difficult because the friction is so high. You can get around this by enabling tap to click and double tap to drag, but the physical click was hard to get used to. This is my first laptop with this click feature, so take this opinion with a grain of salt

Great laptop for the money!!! Some minor flaws.

 Well its been a night and a day and I can tell you this is the best laptop I've used in quite some time. When my iMac broke originally 2 months ago, I decided to go the super cheap route and bought an ASUS Vivobook (their newest one for 2016). It was the slowest P.O

 You could barely open three or four tabs without it slowing down. The Chromebook 2 however, I've had three YouTube tabs open to test it, with ten plus tabs of regular text (NYTimes, CNBC, etc) which are still somewhat data heavy and there's been no slow downs. Coming down from a Mac definitely takes getting used to as everything (even on an older machine) is crisp and smooth. Well ASUS failed horribly but Toshiba nailed it

 I saw a few sites that suggested you really don't need the i3 model versus the Celeron N model. A top reviewer on Amazon also said it made no difference. From what I can, this thing is fast, fast, fast! Very smooth product, excellent speaker system (it's by Skullcandy - and there's a small Skullcandy logo below the keyboard, it doesn't bother me the slightest but others have noted it as being annoying), full 1080p IPS display, and what's more amazing is that the startup and shutdown times are ridiculously fast as well. I will say I'm a mouse user so I only used the Touch-pad for setting the Chromebook up

If you're looking for a Chromebook to purchase I would highly recommend this Chromebook

 Typing on this keyboard shouldn't pose a problem for most people and I think most will actually like it. Something I that like about it is that it is a quiet keyboard to type on, the keys are responsive, and it's back lit! The keyboard is good.  The speakers on this machine are excellent. I played some music and movies on my machine and I wasn't disappointed with the sound at all

there is one flaw that keeps me from giving 5 stars. The problem is that the built in wifi is slow- or rather it does not allow the full download speed that my provider offers. I consistently get, having tested many times, 20mbps down and up when it should be 50/50. Even my old chromebook gets the full 50/50 but not this Toshiba

 Yet, when I plugged in a network adapter into the usb 2.0 port and used the ethernet, I finally did get the full 50/50 speed. So, if you want the full speed that your provider offers on this chromebook, I suggest that you'd better use the ethernet on your usb port or use a wireless adapter, because the built in wifi simply does not cut it. Update: Tried the speed test at my work location and it DID post the rated 50/50 (actually did 60/60 as the test usually shows), so it seems the problem may be related to my home router's wireless signal rather than the built in wifi of this device

Got this a week ago- It is SO much better than the 2014 Samsung chromebook I've been using. Much faster- the new Broadwell cpu can handle mutiple tabs and 1080p video with no stutter. That brilliant 1080p IPS screen is a wonder, and one of the best I've seen short of the best retina macbooks. It also has almost no reflections despite being glossy and the colors are rich with deep blacks (some black crush but a very minor issue)

 VERY loud and good balanced sound. The sound comes through from the keyboard itself, and for me, sounds best when the screen is pushed all the way back with the device turned around slightly so that you're looking more towards the sides of the screen- bass is better and is not so "treble" forward. May have to do with how they've placed the tiny tweeters and woofers inside the machine.

Terrific device with one glaring flaw.
