But anyways, that's my review of the Ula Catalyst Pack.

It took us a long time to get to 10k' as for the first few trips we went to Desolation Wilderness. I'm amazed you plan on fishing. Is the plan to get them agree to stay in the Ultramid insert while you fish near by?. My pack was always a ULA Catalyst and despite trying to pack light, always overloaded.

Excellent pack! Great customer service! Loved this company so much I ordered another pack. Can't wait to get it.

My wife may have a sizing issue, so I'll put her situation aside for now. But I am moving from a Deuter ACT 65+10 to a ULA Catalyst and am super bummed to find the 1.4 lbs lighter pack with about 30 pounds of gear is FAR less comfortable than what I'm used to carrying much more total weight. I guess I expected the lightweight pack would have less cushion in the pads, etc. But thought the fact I was carrying a lot less weight in total would make the whole experience more comfortable not less.While I haven't gone on a hike yet, I did load up the new pack and adjusted it.

I have one and now use it exclusively for lightweight 1-2 day trips, as I was regularly loading it with 30+ lbs for multi-day trips and it just wasn’t that comfortable. If you think you’ll have your pack weight down to 25-30 lbs for a trip, go for it. Otherwise you may wanna look elsewhere. Still a great pack, but I prefer my ULA Catalyst in most scenarios now.

My current pack (ULA circuit) isn't great to use for this because the loops I clip to are also the loops that tighten the hipbelt to the backpack and the load on these places tend to loosen these straps, which I like to be tight. Because of this I'm not really sold on a ULA pack, but that's what I have experience with for larger packs. **Budget:** $300, or so.
