4 GHz, the 5 GHz 1, 5 GHz 2, now again, the 2.4 is a lot slower, but the range is a lot further than the 5 GHz, now again, the 5 GHz is quicker, you can Google all this stuff up and look for some more information, but it's pretty cool, you got all three networks available here and there's a lot of different things you could do, you could check out the devices you have connected, status, parental control and so forth, so again, something you guys could play around with, but that's basically the gist of it when it comes to setting up, so we're going to do the speed test now and see the difference in regards to speed compared to the older router that I have with the speed test, so let's get started with that. Alright guys, so here's the actual test, this is the Files G1100 router, now I was basically getting on a daily basis about 40ish up and then about 20 something down, for some reason today I got it even worse, again, it could be the router, it could be where I am, again, depending on your location, service might be better than other places, but yeah, even at 40, even at its max 40, 50, it wasn't cutting it, I did call Verizon, I did ask them because again, it's advertised, it's supposed to get at least 300, but I know a lot of people, but not getting what it's advertised, I mean, if you're getting 300 and you're paying for 300, then you're really one of the few, but leave a comment down there and let me know if you guys are basically getting it, maybe I'm doing something wrong, I don't know, I mean I tried everything, I contacted the customer service, I had a tech come over, I was going to get a new router, but then they had this special for the gigabit, so I decided to go just because again, the extender did do that over the top, plus I didn't have to pay any money for those devices, so I rather just do that instead of getting an extender with my slow service, so as you could see, I got 10 and I got 14 on this particular day, which is just ridiculously slow, and you know, even at its best, I never got more than 40-ish if I was lucky, now that's where the actual, as you could see, there is the old router, it's plugged in, it has the power cord, so again, it wasn't doing, especially since we were streaming, doing so many other things, so it wasn't doing its job, now what we're going to do is the test for the G3100 router, which is the gigabit, now as you could see, I done a couple of tests, I reached up to, at best, I would say about 600, close to 600, I would say, I mean 592 or something, literally 600 if you round it up, so on average, I am getting about 4 in change, and on the other side, I'm getting about 180 depending on it, so again, it is what it is, definitely not getting gigabit speed, I am definitely going to call Verizon and see if they could maybe boost it up, maybe, I don't know, check it out as well, but I am happy with the service as is now, now yes, it looks like I'm basically paying for extra money for the speed that I should have been getting with the 300 megabits per second, however, again, from my own experience, I never got that speed, I think that's fastest ever gotten, the old router was, I think the best was 80, alright guys, like, comment, subscribe guys, like, comment, subscribe, if you like this video, definitely check out this, leave us a thumbs up guys, leave us a thumbs up, also, if you are thinking about getting gigabit, check the link below, and we have a referral, that would definitely help us in regards to supporting this channel, appreciate it, if you got any questions, like always leave it down there and let us know, maybe we could try to help you and see what we all could do as a community and, you know, help each other out, alright guys, thanks for watching this video, thanks for watching Gadgets123 and I'll see you guys on the next video, take care guys.

Verizon FiOS Router Setup upgrade G3100 Step by Step Tutorial - Set up yourself

Finally built up the courage to return the FiOS G3100 and build up my own network. Part of this is we are going to cord cut and just get Youtube TV, so there is no need for any MoCA shenanigans. I am going to go with the 4 port ProtectLi router seen [here](https://protectli.com/vault-4-port/)

Slower than my G1100 and didn't give me any more coverage. I sent it back FIOS customer Service was no help. Wish I had a better alternative.

Not worth the money!

Verizon Router G3100 sucks. But I am using to pump moca signal to all my other devices( tivo and extender in the attic) Currently I have been testing out mesh systems just so I can have better WiFi signals in my house. Here is my setup:.

I ordered this router to replace an old Actiontec router I’d been using for Fios for many years. The Actiontec worked fine with the exception of the signal not being strong in one room in my house. I hoped this router would solve that problem, and it did — this router does have stronger WiFi coverage than my old router.  But, it drops the coax connection several times a day for no apparent reason

  In the end, I’ve reconnected my old router which doesn’t drop all the time.  Verizon is a scummy company, but if you’re going to buy a Fios router I’d recommend just coughing up the dough to buy a router from them rather than trying to save a few bucks here with these routers of mysterious origin. Maybe you’ll get lucky and it’ll just work, but if not, Verizon likely won’t help you with a router you buy here.

Would not recommend buying from Amazon

 My router is about 4 feet on the top of my desk. The power adapter cord is about 3 feet long and does not reach my surge protector. I have a gigabit connection and getting speeds past 900 megabits per second down and up. The old Fios G1100 was around 800 megabits per second

 The box doesn't come with a Verizon Fios white box sleeve which has the instructions. It is in the brown box which is the Verizon box. A Verizon service rep told me this router will not work properly because I bought it off Amazon. I asked questions on Amazon and both the seller and the customers were fantastic with the response and answers

 I have a gigabit connection and getting speeds past 900 megabits per second down and up. The old Fios G1100 was around 800 megabits per second. I turned my D-Link DIR882 into an access point since the G3100 is in the basement. Overall it is very easy to set up and it is $45 cheaper than buying it directly from Verizon

I purchased this as a upgrade to the Verizon quantum gateway. I was tired of paying the rental fee and willing to spend extra for better performance. This was a few dollars less than buying direct from Verizon. However, it did not live up to promises or expectations

This router seems to work ok but can't say that it's all that it's cracked up to be as advertised but this is Verizon's fault, since they are the manufacturers of it!! And, it's not as fast/speedy as advertised either but it's durable & better than what I had so I'm satisfied. I will deal with it mainly because I don't have to pay Verizon's Rental fee per month which would have cost much, much more to rent it for the next 2 years than I paid to own it. Thanks Amazon!!!

Easy Installation

 And most devices don't have Wi-Fi 6, aka Wi-Fi AX. But there are benefits to non-AX devices. First is a better range. Secondly, typically it's faster on both 2

 But typically, if you have a gigabit connection and the conditions are right, you're going to get at least 500 or 550. So it's a great improvement for downloading files and everything else. And so far so good, I would say. I returned my old one

 I have a gigabit connection, but 600 or 650 in the best conditions. That's way better than the AC standard, which usually capped out at 3 to 350 with a gigabit connection. So it is a great improvement, especially with AX. I mean, 600 650, well, I guess up to 600 650

My opinion on the Verizon FIOS G3100 Router (Wifi 6)

 Signal is good and constant. Added a repeater for my outdoor cameras and no issues with those too. So far so good.

Initial equipment issues but solved the problems.
