Hydrating Essence/ Serum

Decent product

 This of course won't happen to everyone, but it is something that you should be cautious about. I use retinoids at night, so I do not apply this alongside those just in the morning. Also in really dry climates or in the wintertime, I do recommend applying a moisturizer over this because sometimes hyaluronic acid can pull water out of your skin if the air around you is so dry and there's no humidity in the air, it has to pull that water from somewhere. So for very humid climates, this works great to use alone, but in dry climates, do apply a moisturizer over this to get optimal results

 I always dig a little bit deeper. So I'm pretty much on board with the thought process of their products enough so that I have tried many Vichy products out and I've really been enjoying most, not all, but most of them. I apply it after my vitamin C serum because it helps that vitamin C penetrate better and get more benefit from that product. So it is great to apply after your treatment serums and should not interact with any other active products in a bad way

 This is just such a versatile product. Now what should you not pair with this? I do not pair this with retinol, not because it will interact in a bad way or inactivate the retinol, but because it will make the surrounding products on your skin stronger, it has the potential to cause increased irritation from your retinoid, which is called a retinoid dermatitis. This of course won't happen to everyone, but it is something that you should be cautious about. I use retinoids at night, so I do not apply this alongside those just in the morning

 So if Vichy uses this special volcanic water, maybe there's some potential difference there. So it turns out this volcanic water has 15 minerals in it, which basically supercharges the skin barrier to strengthen it and keep those environmental toxins out, which can accelerate skin aging. So essentially this mineral rich water is healing and anti-aging. Now it's one thing to claim that, but does it really do those things? So that leads me to another discovery about this brand, which is that they are very research forward, meaning they perform clinical studies on their products with real patients and objectively measure the results to see how effective the product is

Not as hydrating as you think.

 In my experience, that product is a similar consistency. It's more on the liquid side, like Vichy, but works to amp up hydration much better. That could all be in my head because I believe that the different forms of hyaluronic acid are doing something, but I really do see a better effect in terms of hydration with that product. That is superior to this in my opinion, so I would rank that above this

 So the best way to use hyaluronic acid serums is after you cleanse your skin while the skin is still damp is to then apply the hyaluronic acid product. That way it holds onto that water and keeps it there on the skin. However, if you just leave that as it is and you're using a hyaluronic acid product that doesn't have any ingredients in the product that are occlusive, then the water that the hyaluronic acid is holding onto will just evaporate out of your skin and it will actually pull more water out of your skin. This is why people, especially in drier climates, often find that hyaluronic acid serums end up drying them out and sometimes even flaring acne

 Remember the Extra Dry Skin formulation is the one that is free of added fragrance and the one that I like, use, and recommend. Alright, so hyaluronic acid to remind you is a humectant and it holds onto water. What I like to use hyaluronic acid serums for, products that are sort of marketed as boosters, is to just that, boost up the hydration in my skin beyond what my moisturizer alone is providing. And by doing this, I find that it really improves the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and just smooths out skin texture overall

 I don't find that it is as effective. But many people run into issue with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost products, in which case consider the Vichy one if it's within your budget. Or one of the other hyaluronic acid products that I mentioned in my top five hyaluronic acid video, which I'll link down below for you guys if you missed that. But yeah, comment below those of you who wanted to see this review, like do you use the Vichy product? How has it gone for you? Like what is it about it that you like so much? I would love to know

I just started using Vichy 89 and I feel it's been very hydrating with immediate visual results. I prefer it to cosrx snail musin and hada labo premium, both of which I used for a long time without noticing much. I use it after cleansing and/BHA in the morning and before tret at night.

I've struggled with chronic health problems for the past few years and I'm just now getting to a point where I have the time and energy to focus on my skin again. In general, I've always had issues with acne scarring (both pitting and discoloration), but at the moment my skin is advertising all the mental and physical stressors associated with my health problems. When I look in the mirror, I'm reminded of how unhealthy I am/feel. **My face looks dull, loose, and uneven. I'm 35F.**

I'm not looking for a  miracle cure, and I know that my overall health will definitely affect my skin's health. But as my overall health improves, I'd like to make sure I'm taking care of my skin as well. I'm looking for a simple routine with products that I can buy in-store/pharmacy. **I'm in Germany.**

**Face wash**: I have always liked salicylic acid cleansers, so right now I am using *CeraVe SA Glättende Reinigung*. However, I'm open to trying something else because after a month's exclusive use (and 2-3 months transition), I don't feel it's as effective as I'd like. I also feel like it's hard to wash off and my face always feels like it's still coated.

**?????:** I used to use a toner, but as I finished my old products (which I do not have access to anymore - nor want to use anymore), I haven't added anything new in. This is where I'd like help. Vitamin C serum? Some other serum? What would you guys recommend?

Recommendations for a product to use between cleansing and moisturizing?

 This product has been great with my skin. Did not exactly take away my acne yet has allowed my skin to breath more. Highly recommend

Hydration

 I've just found hyaluronic type products with when you combine them in a long routine with a lot of different products or with a mattifying product, it just gives it more of a tendency to pill. So just keep your eye out for that. But I found I just use this as a first step of my routine, kind of in my place where I would use a normal serum. The other place I really like to like to use it is on my neck, which is very sensitive and dry all the time

 They call this a face moisturizer, not a serum. Isn't that interesting? It's kind of got a gel serum texture. To me, it doesn't seem like a moisturizer, but okay.  You might not necessarily need a moisturizer afterwards. And then after that, we've got biosaccharide gum, which is a polysaccharide made by fermenting plants, a moisturizing and skin soothing ingredient works by binding water to epidermis and creating a moisture binding film on the skin, which gives it a soft, smooth feeling. So other than that, there's really nothing else too exciting, but the thermal water can really help skin. So maybe that's why it works so well
