I use to have the Wahoo Kickr Core - before upgrading to the Kickr V5 when my wife started stealing the core. The trainer will simulate the resistance it takes to overcome the climb - but it can never be the same feeling as riding the hill in real life (Doesn't simulate wind and weather unpredictability).

I bought a Wahoo Kickr Core last week and its been the best decision ever. I'm a beginner ish cycler(first season) and I LOVE Zwift. Definitely opt for a smart trainer at least, direct drive has been superb.

Wahoo Kickr is the endgame, just spend the extra $$. You also should get the cassette with it where the H3 doesn’t come with it. And if you ever want to add incline later on, the wahoo is superior.

First one bought direct brand new from a bike shop. Bluetooth broke making it a 900 dumb trainer. Second one brand new which took 2 days of yelling at Wahoo before they finally agreed to send me a new one instead of a refurbished one which wouldn't even turn on. Piece of junk and not worth your time...

What I can tell you from personal experience is that my Wahoo Kickr helped a lot in that I at least was able to stay active during the pandemic and winter season here in NYC. I say this because when the little one comes you’ll probably be working together and in shifts (you’ll sleep when she’s with the baby and vice versa), and you or your wife may be hesitant in you going out for long rides. When she gets here being alone with the baby can at times be a little daunting at first.
