I have Flip 5 and Xtreme 3 and I have to say that PartBoost is not good solution. It's range is very bad and even if I have both speakers close to each other it losts connection. The worst part is that speakers don't reconnect automatically so I have to retry whole procedure. Power off, power on, and enable PB again

put the saved money towards more music or whatever (or a second speaker to pair together). I think that if the sound produced by either of those is great to you then it probably isn't enough better sound quality to justify getting the Xtreme 3 for the price difference. Without playing them side to side (like may videos), you probably wouldn't hear enough difference to justify the cost.  Maybe there was an issue with the Xtreme 3 I received so take this all as my opinion and possibly a defective product (all manufacturers have occasional bad ones)

they were very muffled. It sounded meh at best with club music, but rock, country, acoustic or any other music with emphasis on vocals, strings and keybaord instruments wasn't great. Ever listen to Van Halen and barely hear Eddie's guitar? How about Kenny Chesney sounding like he has a coffee cup in front of his mouth? Or, what about a very dull sounding ukulele with Iz singing Beautiful World? That isn't good my ears. I will admit that I am into sound and have had quality equipment (I played nice electric guitars through Marshall half stacks with tube heads and a lot of effects like Rockman-Scholz, Alesis, and listening to music with B&O H9i headphones, Focals in my HD, etc)

  I will return this and try the Aiwa Exos-9 which is bigger but less money (of course, it sounds a lot better in youtube video comparisons, but I only take that for what it's worth ..wink, wink).

 It had a good amount of bass (not low, but mid bass) and very poor mids. The highs were somewhat tinny sounding and a little hissy at much over 50 percent volume. Most vocals sounded like the singer was singing into a cup or soup can and there were many mid range sounds (keyboard, guitar, etc.) that you could barely hear 

Sound isn't as it is hyped to be.

My question is, is there any firmware, software or hardware hack which would allow us to override the auto power-down feature and have the speaker "on" and waiting for bluetooth connections until and unless we *physically* turn it off with the power switch, in our own time? Has any workaround to this been released or discovered?

Is there any sort of firmware or hardware hack to keep the Xtreme 3 powered on indefinitely when plugged in and not in use?

 A shame that JBL couldn't figure out the simple things for what would otherwise be a five star speaker.

 I will turn on the speaker and be listening to music, but my wife will unintentionally cut-in from elsewhere in the house because her phone and pc are also connected. There is no way to clear the Bluetooth connections without resetting to factory (and like I said, can't really do that since the app won't connect). A shame that JBL couldn't figure out the simple things for what would otherwise be a five star speaker.

Yet another AWSOME product from the makers of JBL! This thing shakes my house and with new features it's a win win. With the 15 hour battery life, waterproof suround that makes it great for the pool side all the way to the beach. The shoulder strap was a great touch and has rubber grovss in it so it doesn't shift around as your walk. Having the option to charge your pho e or other devices is outstanding and new for this year

 If you play this speaker loud you will not have bass. So, with that out of the way, let's talk about sound quality.  Back in my 20s would have returned that speaker the same day I got it. (Bottom line for bass heads. You will never be fully satisfied at loud volume by a small speaker. The physics of producing bass demand size and hollowness

 I've had several speakers so far and the only reason I never owned a jbl till now was the fact that the bass disappears when you increase the volume past 5 out of 10. Yes, it does that, even with the infamous bass boost feature on. If you play this speaker loud you will not have bass. So, with that out of the way, let's talk about sound quality

That being said, I'd probably save up a bit more for something with a little more volume and punch for a party, like the Partybox line from JBL.

I think, based on my needs, I can boil down to three choices. 
I'm open to any suggestions and will be an open ear.

2 soundcore motion booms (good deal on Amazon) $185

1 JBL extreme 3 (ok discount) $299 

I wanna use them for a party in a 2 br apartment with a small ish living room. Don't really care about size that much and the lights are a nice touch. 

I usually aux at parties and so I'm totally fine with bringing 2 raves even. 

Just wondering what I can expect between these setups

Need help coming to a decision.

Otherwise they're just very nice bluetooth headphones with good audio and sound. Plus for USB-C charging and a long battery life. It has a sound passthrough to let you hear your surroundings, but i haven't really tried that out yet, but i guess it's nice to have. I think i paid somewhere around 700NOK (80usd) for them and i think they're worth it

This could and probably should go in r/headphones but wanted the opinion of fellow minimalists first. 

My question is, what do you lot use for a single pair of decent headphones that serve multiple uses, instead of multiple pairs for different things? Some of the use cases one would need them to fit into: 

-	Conference calls on a work computer when WFH 
-	Light gaming on PC and PlayStation 
-	‘Normal’ use like out walking, around the house or travelling. Most likely connected to a phone so could be used for calls too
-	Exercise like jogging or a gym/home workout
-	Watching Netflix on a laptop ior iPad 
-	Comfortable for long periods of use if they are capable of all the above! 

Things like sound quality and mic quality are also important (but I realise being a jack of all trades and audiophile quality seems a talk order!) and I guess wireless fits most cases but with a decent wired option available for long gaming sessions or work calls.

Minimalism and headphones.

 Fills the ambient air (around her!), purchased for wife and she likes the camo design. Sounds really good, feels good and heavy, not like lightweight junk. Seems like all the good stuff is heavier.

 The normal price seems a bit pricey, but then again a fastfood meal for two is over $20 now.
