The North Face Assault 2 FUTURELIGHT offers exceptional value with a single wall tent construction. It's relatively versatile for a single wall tent, thanks to its many vents and included vestibule, and it weighs in respectably on the scale. On top of that, it's more affordable than most single-wall competitors in our review. The Assault's included vestibule is a huge benefit to a tent that already boasts above-average interior floor space. The short cross poles increase headroom and make it feel more spacious than most bivy tents. 
On the downside, we aren't that impressed with its performance in wet conditions, and the fabric seems to saturate faster than others in rain or wet snow. It also doesn't manage condensation well, as the material is not very breathable. However, because it contains a good amount of livable space and is quite packable, and is stormworthy enough for most moderate adventures, we consider the Assault to be a great deal.

Looking for a spacious and high-quality camping tent but don't want a massive setup? The MSR Habitude 4 is a great choice. This stylish tent is not only light &#40;12 pounds&#41; and compact, it's also built with top-of-the-line materials and is both tall &#40;6' 1" in the middle&#41; and spacious &#40;62.4 square feet&#41;. On top of that, it features unique touches like a porch light, a large vestibule, and great ventilation. 
Although there are many positives to the Habitude 4, it isn't perfect. Some flaws include a single door that requires two zippers to open, a light that doesn't come with a battery, and an awkward bag. Those minor things aside, this tent outscored all other 4-person tents in our lineup.

MSR Habitude 4 Tent

The Big Agnes Tiger Wall 2 Carbon is a superior double-wall semi-freestanding tent, complete with tent poles and modular elements. The Dyneema fabric is incredibly waterproof and will stand up in high winds and rain. The materials retain their shape, with the tent shedding away any unwanted moisture and snow. It is complete with plenty of headroom, upping its livability score. Modularization is a huge feature. You have the option to just bring the tarp and set it up without the interior tent, making it even lighter and easier to pack. What's more, it's lighter than most ultralight tents we tested and will pack into a small backpack, running pack, or even fanny pack &#40;depending on what you bring&#41;.
While this shelter is stable and reliable in poor weather, it has some serious flaws. The construction &#40;as Big Agnes points out on their website&#41; is fragile, and the fabrics can puncture and rip easily. This tent is ridiculously expensive and one that only a few people will see the value in. The internal space and vestibule are decent for two smaller people and gear, but tall or wider folks may find it a bit tight. While many may not be able to or want to afford its high price tag, we do believe the uber-light design is unparalleled. It's best for those seeking a double-wall construction that can control condensation, with the need for a very packable, non-hiking pole-based construction.
