The surface area is more than a standard medium mouse pad, despite a full-size keyboard and macro buttons on the side. The printed-on logo and graphics don't obstruct your mouse in any way, which we like. There aren't any major setbacks on this model that we could find. We did notice that the color of the mouse pad we received was slightly off from the one displayed online. Thankfully we didn't receive a rust-colored pad as some customers griped, but ours did look lighter than the black we expected from the advertisement. We also saw a lot of reviews that protested a strong odor. Fortunately for us — and most users — that was not the case. The Corsair MM300 Pro Extended is a micro-weave cloth pad that has a spill-proof &#40;liquid resistant&#41; coating on the top side and an anti-skid textured rubber base that are joined with stitched edges. The pad has balanced speed and stopping properties but the action remains silky and predictable though somewhat variable depending on the mouse used. While it is quite fast for a cloth pad, it is by no means a speed pad. Conversely, it has great stopping power as compared to speed units but, as one might guess, this performance comes at the expense of increased input to initiate movements. Further enhancing the consistent feel of the MM300 is a flat logo in the corner that won't interrupt the mouse's movement.
The 36-13/16-inch by 11-7/8-inch MM300 Pro Extended offers players plenty of room to accommodate a full-sized keyboard with more real estate leftover than the typical medium-sized mouse pad provides. Additionally, the pad comes in a box and lays almost completely flat sans creases. The stitched edges on our model did cup a bit at first but flattened out in less than 24 hours. We had no complaints about the MM300 but we did hear some reports from others that a strange odor emanated from the pad when it was new. All told, this is a top-shelf pad that excels across all game types.

The SteelSeries QcK Series is our unanimous favorite in this test group. It is designed with gamers in mind, and that fact shows in its performance. Its micro-woven cloth material provides excellent tracking and above-average glide for a cloth mouse pad. A rubber base holds this pad firmly in place, and the entire pad is washable. This mouse pad can be purchased in several sizes, from small to large. We tested the medium size but appreciate that SteelSeries has size options to fit a variety of needs.
We have only a few minor gripes about this mouse pad. First, the edges lack stitching. Not only can this lead to peeling and fraying, but we noticed it was already slightly frayed upon unboxing. Although not a design issue, the QcK Series arrived rolled up in its packaging. While we appreciate this conserves packaging resources, this can cause problems. It may take a couple of days for the mouse pad to fully lay flat. However, some unlucky customers may find it takes longer than that for it to straighten out, if ever. Overall, the SteelSeries QcK is a reliable mouse pad at a terrific price.

Another top option for a cloth pad is the Amazon Basics Gaming Computer Mouse Pad. There are multiple size options to fit your desk and your preferred mouse sensitivity. This machine-washable mouse mat has excellent tracking and a rubber bottom delivering great work and home or office performance. 
There are a few minor issues with this pad. We found that the edges are a little rough and would irritate our wrist or forearm, depending on how each tester used a mouse on the pad. Additionally, our pad never laid completely flat, even after spending time in the hot sun or under a pile of books. The Roccat Taito Control is a solid option if you are looking for a large and durable budget mouse pad. The edges are stitched up with an electric blue thread that provides durability and some sweet aesthetics. We measured the thickness at 4mm with our calipers, and that seemed like plenty of cushion and noise dampening for our testers who frequently pick up their mice. 
We noticed that the Taito Control would slowly work its way around our desk during gameplay, especially during games with heavy mouse movement. The pad's walking issue may be due to the rubber backing not being the best material for all surface types or the fact that our pad refused to lay completely flat. We used typical smooth-top desks for testing. Additionally, we found the logo a bit obstructive &mdash; it's large, raised, and sports a rubbery texture. Don't get us wrong, the Roccat Taito Control is one of our favorite gaming mouse pads, offering plenty of room and control, but it may take time to get used to working around the logo and finding a solution to the "walking" problem we experienced.
