 I recommend these for practice and for in-ear monitors whenever you're recording. And that's it. If you're trying to EQ, trying to do anything else beyond that, maybe get some different headphones. But these are awesome for practice and they're awesome for an in-ear monitor

 So I'll EQ it in the headphones, I'll EQ it with my car, I'll EQ it through some speakers I have, I'll EQ it through my computer, through my phone, lots of different things. But these headphones, like I said before, are not exactly made for that. Alright guys, that's my review of these headphones.  I've EQ'd a lot of projects and then listened to them again after that and have just been surprised by how bad it sounds. You know, because these are low budget headphones, you're not going to get top of the line sound coming out of these things. And so even whenever you're recording and you're EQing things, really the biggest tip anyway is to EQ things from multiple standpoints. And so listening to it in your headphones, your car, your phone, your computer, lots of different ways

AKG K240 Studio Headphones Review | Budget Studio Headphones

The AKG K240 MKII are semi-open, critical listening headphones with an above-average sound. They're comfortable to wear and deliver an immersive audio reproduction. Unfortunately, they're not the most versatile headphones. They perform poorly in loud environments and their bulky, cumbersome build is a bit unstable on the head

 Anyway, onto the technical portion of this review. The K240s may initially give off the impression of being cheap, computer lab-esque headphones, but don't let that fool you. They might be composed of plastic and synthetic leather, but that is for good reason. Thanks to the materials chosen, they are some of the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn, and are extremely light, coming in at about 230 grams

 The mids and highs on the other hand though are perfectly balanced and sound crystal clear. I'm slowly not the first person to make this argument, but this balance and this range of the frequency spectrum allows the K240s to be one of the best pairs of budget studio headphones to mix vocals on. Again, I am still clearly an amateur at music production, but even I have found that it is incredibly easy to mix vocals while wearing these headphones. Overall, given you adequately understand the purpose of the K240s, I could easily recommend these headphones to anyone looking to get into music production or video editing

 However, in my opinion, it isn't a big enough issue to mess with the mixing and mastering process once you are aware of it. You just have to be more gentle with raising low frequencies and try listening to your music on multiple sets of speakers to make sure that you are not overdoing the bass. The mids and highs on the other hand though are perfectly balanced and sound crystal clear. I'm slowly not the first person to make this argument, but this balance and this range of the frequency spectrum allows the K240s to be one of the best pairs of budget studio headphones to mix vocals on

 They need a decent amp, which I **can't afford**. I'm no expert in this field, but vocals and guitars are muddy and muffled.

I wanted to experience open-backs, so I went with **AKG K240 MKII**. And it was such a disappointment. They need a decent amp, which I **can't afford**. I'm no expert in this field, but vocals and guitars are muddy and muffled

  The sound quality is nice, I watch Hulu, play games, and listen to music.  There is an issue with the connection point between the headphones and cable. It is a 3 pin connection with a click in style. When the cable has pressure it will cause the pins to not connect properly and I lose sound in the headphone where the connection attaches

I mainly bought these headphones as I wear glasses and normal over the earphones press the temple supports that go over the ears into my head with a pressure that over time will cause discomfort. These don't do that nearly as much, it's still there, but I can wear them longer.  The sound quality is nice, I watch Hulu, play games, and listen to music.  There is an issue with the connection point between the headphones and cable

 Now, I have to say I was quite impressed with these headphones for game audio. They really did give me a sense of a spacious environment around me, and while not hyped, the explosion still had enough energy to feel realistic like you were part of the game. In fact, with the velvet pads, very natural, very neutral headphones. Now, let's take a look at the log comparison

 Now, if it's a DI with a guitar or something, not a big deal. But if you have an amp cabinet mic'd up or you're recording vocals, not really meant for that application. Now, changing to the velvet pads actually reduced the overemphasis and made them even more accurate. So if that's something you like, if you like the velvet pads versus the leather and you want to mix for long sessions, again, these could be a great choice

 So now, looking at the linear analysis with music, we can see that the sound profile is very true to what we saw with the sine sweep. We've got a slight boost in the lower range and in the upper frequencies. Very minor, I would say overall. Once again, we'll check the log comparison to see if there's any difference

 And this is a sample of spoken words, so we can compare the sound of the recording directly versus the sound through the headphones. Now, looking at the spoken word comparison, we can see that there's really nothing here that's going to make these headphones seem really hyped. We have a slight increase in those upper frequencies and a slight increase in the very bottom sub-bass frequencies, but again, nothing that's going to make you think, gee, these headphones are super boosted in the bass response or really brittle in the top end. Now, when I look at this log comparison of what we'd actually hear, we're seeing maybe a one or two dB boost in frequencies above 16k and maybe one dB in the, say, 50Hz range, so really accurate in terms of spoken word for what we can expect to hear

Looking for Great Sounding Headphones? - AKG K240 mkii Detailed Headphone Review

My main issues were with the build of it - the plastic construction caught my hair a lot and the build quality has been less than stellar, with its cable connector failing now; which is why I'm looking for a better replacement rather than re-buying. Some headphones I've been looking at as replacements in my own research thus far are the AKG K240 and the Grado SR-60e, and any other recommendations are of course welcome.

The headphones I've always had my eye on, but never brought. I have HD600's. Sundara's and DT1990's. Defo don't need these, but will no doubt end up getting them lol.
