Conclusion time for a hundred dollars

 Now the trouble is largely for the most part, pretty detailed for the price. And I would not consider it to be under detailed as a whole, but there are some areas that I think sound a bit plasticky and unresolved. They're not super common, but they do happen from time to time. And sometimes you can get sort of this tamper blend where things sound always kind of artificial and not really metallic or flexible in other ways

 So it's kind of more out here a little bit in front and a little bit in back, but not super deep in front. And you are going to be able to hear things at a fairly large scale, especially for a closed back headphone, especially for a hundred dollar closed back headphone. These are going to seem quite big when they need to be. So if you're listening to something like an interstellar soundtrack for a hundred bucks, pretty great experience out of this thing

$100 Closed Back Headphone Champs! AKG K361

  The overall neutrality of these headphones means they take equalization very well and thus can be chameleons of sorts for those who want to tweak their sound signature or, as in my case, like to use EQ to approximate other phones. Using Boom’s Fidelity effect, they can take on almost an open-back level of clarity. Sound-wise, they’re just what I expected and hoped for.  FIT  I don’t have a particularly large head or large ears for a male, and these ear cups are slightly small and shallow even for me

 It is both easier to swivel and so much easier to height-adjust that I’ve accidentally adjusted it 3 times in the past 2 minutes. This will likely be a point of failure before long, so I’m requesting a return before even hearing them.  SOUND  Considering the build quality issues which, based on other reviews, seem to plague this model, I almost regret saying that sound-wise, these are my desert-island headphones. They’re not fun or exciting and don’t have a great soundstage, but they are honest and transparent in that they don’t drastically over- or under-emphasize any part of the frequency range and thus are ideal for studio work if you like to use the Harman target as a baseline

 Most people know what those are if they're into headphones at all, and they were just flat out harsh in comparison to the AKG K361s. Highly recommended, $105. You can't go wrong. Give them an opportunity, at least for the ear pads to break in and for your brain to burn in to the frequency response, and I don't think you can go wrong with them

 One can change the ear pads if they're so inclined, but I really like these. And sometimes headphones will push my ear, will touch the inside of the driver, and I don't care for that, but these, it did not. So they're perfect. It's a perfect ear pad size for me

 It's easy to accidentally hit them when you don't mean to, and pause or play the music you're listening to. I think whoever decided touch controls were a good idea never actually sat down with the product and tried to use it for real world listening while doing other activities, possibly needing to adjust the headphones or take them off for something while doing things.  But, in spite of the flaws, they're still a *comfortable* *wireless* *$99* headphone. That alone is pretty decent, so if you only have $100 to spend and you absolutely need a wireless headphone, I'd recommend them

 For a $99 wireless set that's already a good value. And then the sound quality isn't THAT bad. It's definitely not what I'd consider "good" sound, but it's tolerable. If I didn't have anything else to compare to, if I never had a higher quality set of headphones or studio monitors, I could see myself being happy with this purchase

 It's not as narrow as a cheaper headphone, but it's somewhat narrow. I also noticed they can't be turned up very loudly before distortion that's not in the source material starts to become noticeable. Not sure if this is only a problem in wireless mode or not -- I didn't try plugging them in because what's the point of buying a wireless headphone if I have to plug them in to get good sound? I already have a better set of wired phones on hand.  I will also say the touch controls really bug me

I used EQ but again it sounded less detailed if I did that and only sounded alright. Still amazing ANC so I use them. AKG K361/Shure SRH440H: People were talking about these as being amazing headphones but again sounded balanced but didn't floor me.

I have the wired version of these headphones and like them so much I bought the Bluetooth version for teleconferences.  These are solidly built and the sound quality of the headphones themselves is excellent. But, the Bluetooth is weak. It takes a long time to connect and automatically disconnects if you don’t use it for a few minutes

 I didn’t note my battery was low until my headphones shut themselves off.  In the end, the headphones are still good but, other than the battery life, the Bluetooth functionality is on par with a pair of $10 headphones you could buy at 7-11.

  The cryptic illustrations in the user guide (there is no text) were not clear about how to tell when the Bluetooth charging is complete so I emailed AKG. I waited several days just to receive an email that is product is formed by Harmon and I would have to contact them.  I called Harman support and got a representative that didn’t seem too familiar with the product, even though he claimed he uses it himself. He didn’t have any documentation, so I walked through the diagrams on the user guide to see if he could help understand them

So I got myself a good starting point for hearing music as it should sound. Got the Sennheiser IE300 second hand for about 150€ and the AKG K361 second hand for about 60€. Qudelix 5k for dealing with very high sensitive ears and with not having a headphone jack and don’t want to be corded to my phone when hearing music. Before, I had some Shure SE215 CL (destroyed in the washing machine) and some Bang&Olufsen H2

 The malleable pads along with the clamp force makes quite a seal on your ears, and I wasn't easily able to hear someone talking to me from across the room, which could be a pro if you're looking for headphones to block out most sound, but not what I was looking for. I don't like the sensation of hearing my own breath in my ears because the seal was so tight. I was talking with a friend and lifted the ear cups a bit while talking and was surprised to hear how loud I was speaking because I wasn't able to hear myself well. I was hoping to like these as I prefer a more neutral sound, which these give, but for the price I think there is probably better out there
