I have an AKG Q701 and I love it for most genres. But when I listen to dance or hip hop I miss the bass slam. I was looking at headphones that are tuned neutral to warm sounding with extended but not bloomy bass. I've had the Sennheiser HD650 in the past and I wasn't a big fan.

Conclusion. The AKG Q 701s are a fine set of headphones, and Quincy Jones has made a sound decision in associating himself with them. Bass isn't their forte, but their crystal-clear mid and high frequencies make most music a delight to listen to, and they're comfortable enough so that you won't have to give your noggin a rest every half an hour

Now the AKGs to me, were my perfect headphone. I like bright headphones, and I'm relatively tolerant to sibilance, so I didn't really mind the occasional sharp S. Poorly mixed audio sounds can sound pretty rough. Even youtube interviews can be hard to some who is not accustom to it . That being said, the mids are clear and present without being too boosted and the treble is absolutely wonderful.
