But has anyone bought a replacement router and successfully switched to it from the AT&amp;T rental one?

Anyone successful in removing/replacing the AT&amp;T fiber router to end their rental fee?

This is the exact same model that I had that got struck by lightning or was otherwise incapacitated. DSL modems are getting hard to find. I recommend plugging it into an APC backup: the prior one that I had actually has a note on it saying not to power it down while it's booting or it can cause permanent damage. I think my power was flickering, and damaged it, so I recommend an APC
