ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14

Smooth plan and simple to open top. Great keyboard with fair travel, clicky input, and a discretionary RGB backlighting.

The power cable port on the laptop has a poor connecting, the error message "not charging properly" continuously appears whenever charging. Also the auxiliary port is very very loose, to the point where some jacks aren't recognized.

G14 Zephyrus: some reservations about the screen size, heard bad things about ghosting, but the laptop itself looks great and I've read good things about the keyboard. Gigabyte Aero 17, lowkey design, good image quality, meh keyboard. Alienware m17, good bang for buck, but seems chunky with the big vent on the back. aesthetics are a little too techy for me.

The packaging space is not filled up, which makes the computer easy to collide during transportation. It is not professionally packed!

I only really found the Legion 5 and Omen 15 (which are a bit too heavy to carry every day) and the g14, which is amazing by all means. That being said, I wanted to make sure I am not losing out on anything. I love the small weight, the usb-c charging (to avoid the brick) and the insides of the g14 that are more than enough for me. Are there any real competitors to the g14 at this price point?.

I remember it being really easy to decide on it and find it. I'm having a lot more trouble helping a friend find a gaming laptop for under $1000. He's going to college so I don't think he'll want something like the predator ( I know it's more than $1000) that weighs as much as it costs. The one I'm currently looking at is OMEN 15z-EN000, it seems to be a good deal, kind of ridiculous though that the ROG Asus Zephyrus G14 that I own is just $100 dollars more.
