These over-ears have a well-balanced sound profile, which ensures that voices sound clear and natural. Although the upper harmonics of vocals and instruments sound a little veiled due to a dip in the treble range, sibilants like S and T sounds are bright without being piercing. Their passive soundstage isn't very natural, though, which is normal from closed-back headphones, and they're prone to inconsistencies in audio delivery, so it's important to take the time to adjust their fit to ensure a more consistent sound.

 Now, in my listening experience, I honestly didn't hear much of a change when swapping between the two different sets of pads. The only things I did notice though was when going to the Pleather pads, I felt as though there was a slight emphasis at both the low to mid bass bump as well as at the 8.5K treble peak. But aside from that, you know, there wasn't really any significant difference between them

Then, as for EQ, whilst its peaky treble and dark bass and mids combo could be a little awkward sounding at times, I didn't find that the DT1770 Pro had me reaching out as desperately for EQ as other biodynamic headphones normally would

 If you're not particularly into the DT770 Pro's V-shaped tuning and don't use EQ, or alternatively if you really like the build and aesthetic of the DT1770 Pro, those are really the only scenarios in which I'd recommend choosing the newer model over the original. But even then, I'd highly advise waiting and looking for them on sale as they do occasionally go down in price to the much more appropriate $400 range. Anyways, that is all for me today.  As a result of the all-metal build, it weighs 388 grams, which is a fair bit heavier than the DT1770 Pro, but I personally consider that to still be relatively light, and it's well distributed. I don't think it'll be a source of fatigue for most listeners. Compared to the DT1770 Pro, clamp force on the newer model is also a bit tighter, but again, I didn't find it to be an issue in any way, and it's definitely not like the vicious clamp of HD600 series headphones. The only comment I have for comfort is that even though their inner diameter is fairly spacious, some listeners' ears may come in contact with the inner sides of the pads, as well as with the driver since they're not particularly deep

Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro Review - How does it compare to the DT 770 Pro?

With most headphones I feel like only part of the music is in focus, with the clear every little detail is where it is supposed to be. The bass is engaging and has a great slam. Compared to a neutral reference like the K612 or even the HD 600 it sounds a little darker, but still very natural.

I don’t understand all the fuss about this particular headphone. The highs are so sharp that it makes my ears ringing. I listened to it on both my Apogee symphony MK II and a Questyle CMA800i, just not my kind of sound I guess.

Not for everyone

 Really can only recommend this if you're an absolute basshead. If you're a total basshead, if you love bass, you'll probably like these a lot. If you care about really anything else, I would avoid this headphone at all costs, as much as I hate to say that. I wouldn't even wear them to film this video and monitor my microphone, because it was just so unpleasant

 And these aren't the same as your standard Beyerdynamic velours because the back end is actually sealed, not perforated. But this headphone is very, very, very isolating, especially with the pleather pads, at the cost of being pretty heavy and having a lot of clamp. And if you do not get a good seal, if you do not get a lot of clamp on them, even if they're just kind of loose on your head, it's going to drastically change the sound. You want to have a good seal with these

 Things can sound really distant, but they never really sound wide. And there's definitely a clear difference between distance and width. Vocals sound distant, vocals do not sound wide. But some things like guitar strings occasionally will separate out into space

DT1770 - REVIEW

My main choices are aeon 2 closed (second hand on ebay for 550 €), dt 1770 pro (brand new around 400€), audeze lcd-2 closed back (second hand for 600€) and focal elegia (second hand on ebay 650€, a bit expensive for my budget). Best prices for my budget are dt 1770 and aeon 2 closed. Are they superior enough in terms of sound quality to DT 1770 to spend extra for a used one?.

 And those were the first pair of headphones that I had ever heard that I understood what sub bass was. It wasn't just low end. It wasn't just, you know, these Sony's here, the Z sevens, they have great low end. Big driver, like a kick drum is what I said, a kick drum

 Aggressive headphones and that's what I'm defining the 1770s as. 1770 Pro. These two what? Pro and premium? Well these are Pro. These are aggressive headphones

Z Review - Beyer Dynamic DT1770 [Always Hardcore]

Coming from the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pros, it really is an amazing experience listening to the LCD-Xs. On the 1770s, I found isolation to be very solid with great build quality. The enjoyable, V-curve frequency response also retained the Beyerdynamic shine while maintaining, what I found, to be clean bass and sub-bass response.

This is coming from someone who prefers brighter headphones in general. I swear the DT 1770 Pro I had for awhile gave me tinnitus. They sound like shit, and the mid range is terrible. Don't expect to listen to your music even moderately loud if you're using DT-770's, unless you want to get tinnitus and become deaf
