2 for hours but I could not escape the "colored" sound which I will describe as "turning the tone volume towards bass" with an old stereo receiver. (for those old enough to remember that dial) The overall sound seems colored with a very bassy tone- not the "bass punch" but the entire sound was oddly bassy to my ears, I love a good bass punch thrill when the music calls for like the sound of Audeze planars but this was just "colored" overall. No way was it neutral or close. Everything has it's pluses and minus' but I could not live with the "odd" sound reproduction

 I further auditioned the Mr. Speakers Aeon Flow, about as comfortable as a pair of headphones can be, and a great sound. I returned the Beyerdynamic T1.2 and want on a search which put me in a friendly high end headphone store for hours

 I auditioned several headphones with a neutral/slight bass tilt. The Audeze LCD X is excellent- same level of bass punch as the Beyer's but didn't have the coloring. BUT- they also felt like I was wearing a brick helmet and I could not live with those either. Planar magnets are heavy! Now the Audeze had the same type of semi open design but the bass was "punch" and true to the original sound

Very Colored Sound- Not For Me

 However, the build on this thing is out of this world. The precision on the back of this reminds me of many of the watches that I really like out of my collection. Inside, this does have an angled driver in here behind this foam. You can't really see it because the foam is there, but I have taken this foam out and tested it that way as well

 Now that said, I have the 300R sitting here, because I feel as though the 300R is basically a little brother to the DT1990. I plug it up, I play the same song, and everything sounds like it's right. It's a little bit V-shaped. It's not a perfectly flat headphone

 But the main conclusion, what we're getting out of this, is that this is less good for Beyer, but very good for the consumer. Now there are a few other things this headphone does very well. Soundstaging on it is very surprisingly good. I imagine that has something to do with this scoop right here, because a lot of headphones with really good soundstage seem to have a little bit of a recess in this region

#TLDR: regularly check your ear to ENT specialist if you enjoy Audio stuff. you might end up saving money on upgrade

So, the last 3 month or so, I believe I have lost passions in audio. all of my headphone just sounds lifeless. bloated bass, muddy mid, non-existing treble, even on famously bright Beyerdynamic T1 2nd Gen.

since I have some money, I though that I need an upgrade, I've shopped around, check a lot of review until I end up purchasing some major upgrade to Kennerton Odin and Queestyle CMA600i. I should be happy right? I wasn't. the sound balance seems off, I feel like the left driver doesn't work right, but no matter how I test it, Everything seems alright. 

I even argue with my wife who say everything sounds great, until she produce her phone, play a music through the speaker, and when she move the speaker to my left ear, It happened again. sound seems to be muted. I though she play with the volume, but testing them by myself, the result is the same. 

after the realization that it is MY EARS that has been issue all the time, I get to an ENT doctor as soon as I can. the doctor confirm the news. lot of gunk causing blockage and some ear canal infections. I have been 20% deaf and I didn't even realize it. 

The doctor told me that this typically happen when you insert foreign object on the ear canal. He simply say that it is happen because people using qtips, but I know that my IEM is to blame 😅

so a $150 treatment later, everything sounds great again! I'm enjoying my old and new system, appreciating them even more since I have lost them once. 

If only I didn't spend that much on the new system. I would be even happier. 

ah, who am I kidding? That money will end up buying audio stuff sooner or later 😁

If you feel your setup doesn't sounds good anymore, go to ENT doctor (audiologist) BEFORE upgrading

I was relocated due to work and was leaving my house which I enjoyed Klipsch RF-7ii speakers and SVS PB 13 Ultra subwoofer in. I would be temporarily living in an apartment and did not want to compromise the sound quality I had been accustomed to so I decided to splurge on headphones (as to not disturb my neighbors).  After much research I landed on the 2nd Gen T1s. I was thrilled that I found them in the Amazon Warehouse for $700

Beyond Diminishing Returns

Beyerdynamic's TYGR 300 R sounds like it could be just up your alley then. Helluva fun for daily use. Awesome and tight bass. Imaging that's astounding. I love mine. Everything just comes alive on these.

The DT1990's are my favorite headphones, but you may have to mess around with eq to get your preferred sound signature. To answer your question though, they are a great all-around headphone, but are best used for critical listening and studio use.

Love mine. Put a pair of dekoni elite hybrids on and any hint of sibilance is gone (takes away a little bit of the bass too but not too much).  I use them for gaming and music production and find them to be a ton of fun. Good Soundstage, great detail retrieval, amazing lows, mids and highs.  Coming from sony mdr7506, mdr1-as, akg 702s and a bunch more I forget off the top of my head. The dt1990s blow these all away and have become my endgame.

Hello, this is a post looking for advice! I've been down a rabbit hole researching different headphones on this sub and other forums but can't get a clear, definitive answer unfortunately. I know headphones are subjective but hopefully this will help.

First off, I'm not an audiophile really, I mostly like to casually listen to music and every now and then critically listen to new music I find. I know the DT1990 has bad reputation with sibilance but I'm not sure if that's an audiophile problem or something a casual person would actually notice? I've only owned the DT770s and I'm not attached to the sound I'd say and am really interested in entering the open-back headphone market.

I just want a professional grade headphone for fun daily use, cool bass, and accurate sound/imaging. The music I mostly listen to is soft Rap/R&amp;B, but I also like soft rock, classic pop, and orchestral music. Nothing crazy hard but good for both fun and sitting back. For reference examples I like Kanye, Anderson .Paak, Stevie Wonder, U2, The Lumineers, BROCKHAMPTON, and Yanni (don't judge me plz lol we're not talking about music).

During my rabbit hole research I found the most interesting competitors to be: Audeze LCD-2C, Beyerdynamic Amiron Home, Beyerdynamic T1, and Sennheiser HD 650.

I may be biased towards Beyer right now but I really am not attached to the sound (not to say I don't like it) I just want the discussion to be if you could only have ONE HEADPHONE for daily use and everything included.

I do also plan to go into a music production as a hobby so that's also something to keep in mind, but I know the DT770s I own can also do the job. Other uses that I would also intend to use but not nearly as important to me as casual and attentive listening would be for movies and gaming. Again not as important but could be a nice bonus.

Please if you have knowledge on these headphones and the competitors I mentioned I would love to learn more! I know I emphasized on casual listening but I don't mind if the sound really calls for my attention. Comfort isn't an issue either for me. I'm still reading and learning a lot about headphones so any advice goes a long way, thanks :)

Beyerdynamic DT1990 for fun, all-around listening?

selling open box as new. Headphone itself is ok

 This box would have to function in my day to day. I'd have to keep my car keys in it or something and just go up to the door. I'm like, hold on. Hold on

 I don't remember how that movie went, but it was sad, I think. So, have I not talked about sound enough, about the decay of the bass? I don't feel like talking about that stuff. I never do. Headphones are an emotional thing

For me it's the original mr.speakers Aeon open.

Wish I'd never bought it.

I live in a small town far away from any headphone or hifi related stores (think two days on a train to reach the closest one) so I couldn't try out anything.  
Started with an akg k550, upgraded into the Hd600.  
Read a lot about headphones, did a lot of research.  
Multiple posts about the Aeon being a direct upgrade for the Hd600.

It's so flat... so boring. It doesn't offer more details, bass or anything over the 600's.

4 times the price of a new hd600...

(At the same time I bought a Chord poly+mojo, for it's spotify integration... which is still hasn't recieved many years later, even after having asked the company about it year after year, and them saying "It's coming soon" "we are working on it")

These cans are nearly identical to the T90 in sound quality, but way more expensive. The price, in my opinion, is completely unjustified. If I had to choose between the T90 and this, even at the same price, I'd go with the T90. That is if you can stand the tiring treble of either
