 The polk audio PSW 10 is not really even a true subwoofer. It'S more of a large low end, mid-range just kind of you know cheap Rumble box and that's about all it is, whereas the Polk Audio PSW 10 is actually or I'm sorry, not a Polk Audio psmt 10. The Dayton audio sub 1200 is in fact closer to a true subwoofer, I'm going to go ahead and cover the differences between the two first and foremost the Dayton audio sub 1200 is a 12 inch sub, whereas the PSW 10 from Polk is a 10-inch sub. So right off the bat you're getting a larger sub, which, generally speaking, is better for range and low end response

You can go 2 ways. Buy a good stereo setup now and add on as time goes by or get the whole shebang now but then upgrades mean you end up wasting money on the components you're replacing. That looks like a fine setup that's better than what 95% of regular people have. But then so is a Denon 750h and jbl 530s and you can add the center and sub and towers over time. 

I'm not saying one way is better than the other or even that the products I mentioned are the best. Just giving perspective.

Im no audiophile nor have the budget for something really expensive.

1- Channel Network AV Receiver using LFE. I set the crossover to the max and used the receiver to set crossover (I think mine is set at 80 or 90hz).  Now, a few things to consider. As others have posted, using LFE, it seems the gain needs to be set ~75% or more to get any real sound out of the thing

DON'T LET THE PRICE FOOL YOU! This thing is LOUD! At $109, I got more than I expected with this sub. I have it hooked up to aYamaha RX-V671 7.1- Channel Network AV Receiver using LFE. I set the crossover to the max and used the receiver to set crossover (I think mine is set at 80 or 90hz)

  Now, a few things to consider. As others have posted, using LFE, it seems the gain needs to be set ~75% or more to get any real sound out of the thing. The good news is, I didn't have any issues with distortion (from what I could tell) at any gain setting.  The bad, and the reason for losing a star: Like other users have mentioned, the auto-off/on switch is not 100% functional

GREAT for the money, with one hiccup...

 I keep that at middle and the crossover. However, I just don't even mess with the crossover, so the inputs are two RCA left and right channel inputs. It'S sad that they don't have any 3.5 millimeter inputs, but I don't really care and the phase I just don't mess with it either and for the power I keep it at Auto

 I can't hold it anymore, okay, so this is what is inside the Dane audio. We'Ve got some polyfill, pretty nice polyfill how much well we got this pretty in the same court to get bass reflex and the back with some okay looking at the board, but it's not too big. It doesn't have to be big, but if it's efficient enough to not make the speaker move to fill up my room with bass, that's gon na be impressive too, in the size of the Transformers kind of small. But who cares right solder joints looks fine

I got this based on other reviews. It came quickly, well packaged (double boxed). The base sound is very good. The cons: legs unlevel so had to shim one (no big deal)

I noticed that on auto power on if my receiver volume is too low it will not trigger the sub woofer to power up (again not a big issue at normal listening levels). However, I do notice that it will power cycle often

 Do a sound demo. For this, because I'm recording this on a cell phone and you're, just not gon na - be able to get the bass frequencies you're. Just this self one's not gon na, be able to accurately pick them up so check out some other sound demos across YouTube. I'M sure you could find something if you guys have any questions

$500 DIY Dayton vs $180 SUB-1200 Dayton. Might have to give the nod to the SUB-1200!

 Hence the reason it has been turned on for 8 years.  This is a boomy subwoofer. If you aren't running other subwoofers to hit higher hz low frequencies more accurately you're probably gonna have a bad time.  I have used this as a bass amp for a bassist who forgot his own rig to a show before and it performed adequately

For bass heads

 You really start to hear it and then here it starts to get Bumi and then this you know, will on your walls, rattle so crossover. I use the low frequency. I figure what they call it LFE, so you're supposed to set the crossover to maximum, and then you control your crossover on your receiver so set this to maximum. If you're going to use this port and then adjust the settings on your receiver for crossover these, these are a nice option

 You know you know how it is guys, write the wife approval factor, anyways um. Let'S look at the back here, get a little closer. You have gain control right now. I'Ve been kind of dialing it in and I have it almost up to maximum and it sounds pretty boomy, but i'd say you want to be at least there, because between minimum and halfway there's barely any difference once you get to about here

 If you don't have a receiver, if you want to hook this up to like a pair of computer speakers that you already have your computer speakers would go or this the speakers from the from the amp, your speaker connections go in here and then out to your Speakers and then this is where you would use the crossover to kind of dial in what frequencies you want, the speakers to handle and what frequencies you want. The subwoofer to handle to kind of split it off. I'Ve noticed that the auto power feature works really. Well

 It'S a 100 inch screen that I made out of some Carl's blackout, cloth and some micro speakers. But again I want to focus on the sub I'll, probably do a home theater tour and different video anyways um, like I said Dayton, Audio sub 1200 120 watt, RMS 12 inch subwoofer. I got it for about $ 125 on Black Friday shipped. I was a sweet deal
