 Our review machine was equipped with a Core i7-12700H processor, 16 gigabytes of RAM, and that Nvidia GPU. It scored 17% higher than last year's model than the PCMark 10 benchmark, and 40% higher in Cinebench's multi-threaded test. In the real world, those scores mean that this computer can just save you hours when you're dealing with big 3D rendering jobs or huge video edits. That new CPU also gives the XPS 15 a leg up when it comes to complex games like Halo Infinite

 At the very least, I'm glad Dell is sticking with the full-size SD card slot, that just makes getting photos and videos off your cameras much more easy. The XPS 15's battery life is also a lot better than it was last year. We clocked 13 hours and 12 minutes in our battery benchmark, whereas last year it was under 10 hours, and that was just kind of disappointing after we're seeing very, very long-lasting computers from Apple and Microsoft. Now despite all my gushing, I think there's still some room for improvement

 They have both high performance cores and high efficient cores, and together, that gives you some really tremendous multitasking performance, but it also means it can run a little cooler and a little more efficient when it needs to by relying on those efficiency cores. Put it together with Nvidia's RTX 3050 Ti, which debuted in the XPS 15 last year, it just really makes this computer much more of a powerhouse, and something that I think people who are doing really demanding computer work will want to have. Has some issues but I still like it

 But the one thing I really like about the XPS lineup is their display offerings. Even if you don't spend the extra money for the 4K panel, you're going to love this thing because I feel super confident doing content creation on it and everything just looks great. Now this is the matte display. So you're not going to have any of that crazy reflection you'd get on a glass panel, which is something you'd probably get with the 4K option

 That's pretty fair, especially for something, again, this thin and light, they could have put a bigger battery in it, but it would have been thicker and heavier. So that's the 2022 Dell XPS 15, as ever, same laptop, lovely design, great display options, nice keyboard, good trackpad, all those things, the only thing that's changed are the processors and for the better, we see significantly more performance without any thermal or battery life deterioration. So given the level of performance here, I mean, this is enough performance to be doing Blender, obviously to be doing the whole Adobe Creative Cloud suite, Premiere and all that sort of stuff, scientific computational software, that's not bad

 So dongle life is it with this, obviously, you're going to need adapters or little mini Dell docks, that sort of thing, if you need to use so-called legacy peripherals like USB-A, for example, or HDMI. Obviously, you can do DisplayPort out via the USB-C port as well, so that's easy enough. Just get a USB-C to DisplayPort cable or USB-C to HDMI. So there are options there, but they involve little adapters, but that's how they're rolling with the XPS line, because they're trying to make it as thin and light and small as possible and compete with the Mac, even though ironically Apple's starting to add ports back, but that's okay

 For the 86 watt hour that we have, and probably most of you will end up getting, it's going to depend on which display you go with.  That's because this is running that 12th Gen processor, the Core i7-12700H, RTX 3050 Ti graphics, the 45-watt variant, same as last year, but we're seeing a 35 to 40% increase in performance, better multi-core and better single-core performance out of this 12th Gen processor over the 11th Gen from last year. Very impressive. We also noticed much better battery life, about 70% better this time around. This got over 12 hours on my continuous web surfing test

 The star of the show to me has to be once again, that 3.5K OLED display, still running at 60 Hertz. Would have been nice to have a higher refresh rate probably next year, I guess we would anticipate that. But I think the biggest change with this so far is going to happen under the hood
