Yet as I described in my [**recent impressions of Railroad Ink Challenge**]([URL REMOVED] I’m living the law of diminishing returns within this genre of games. I used to believe that it was so cool how you could play these games with as many people as you had pads and writing utensils. Although in practice, I’ve noticed that these tend to be the quietest and least interactive games you could possibly play at a party. Low-interaction games such as roll & writes tend to take the wind out of the sails of interpersonal engagement, and I find these to be hollow forms of entertainment in group gatherings

 Both contain the chill mechanism of stopping along a one-way track to collect items or trigger effects. Jumping far ahead guarantee’s that you’ll hit your desired spot, but you’ll be skipping lots of other good options along the way and leaving them open for your opponents.

Bought this to play with younger kids (6 & 4). Absolutely love the concept and execution but unfortunately we just found the imagery to be a bit too unsettling. To be clear, there's nothing is overtly graphic or wrong here, but all the concepts and choice of color palette skew towards darkness and imagery that just leaves you feeling slightly uneasy. Finally, avoid vision intensive games. Tile laying games aren't great for example, though there are ways one can convert them to tactile games. Games like Mysterium and Dixit are complete impossibilities though.

With hidden information games there are two things you can do. The first is just have another player (or a spectator) keep the vision impaired player informed of what hidden information the vision impaired player possesses (e.g. what cards are in their hand etc)

 That does require the vision impaired person knows braille and that you have a braille labeller (or purchase the braille kits available from 64 Ounce Games). It's also quite time consuming. 

 In the context of boardgames though you will need to develop your memory and strategies for remembering components, actions, board states etc. One thing sighted players can do to assist is to make sure they read out components in full (i.e. name and impact/ability)

I have a very close friend who lost his vision in a car cash long ago. He  used to listen to us to learn what we were playing. We whisper to him about what we have on hands and our plans. He is a good secret keeper and so we don't have problem.


We want him to join and play together so we added some dot stickers on the standard playing cards and Hanafuda cards. Traditional BGs like Monopoly is also fine because he can tell from reading dice surface, the piece, and we just read out the words on card and board for him.


But as we move on and wish to try newer games we have more difficulties in playing, like SpaceTeam, 5 minute dungeon... which are not very possible. Witcher BG is one he most wanted and we have no ideas how to make it accessible for him. 


Anyone know how to modify a BG for people who has lost their vision? Or , any BGs that are possible to play with them?

Modify a game for the blind?

It takes a long time, the phases are a bit confusing, and the set up is a bit clumsy (possibly because the rules didn't translate that well from Polish to English). I like it, quite a bit, but even the Dixit lovers in my playing groups don't seem keen on it. Nor the Clue players.

Inspired by u/WrestlingCheese and u/filipptralala comments on a different thread, what are some of the games that you love but 100% understand why some people dislike it?


To me it has to be **Betrayal At The House On The Hill** . I loved it and had a blast plenty of times that I played. But some people that I have introduced the game to didn’t enjoy it AT ALL. The rules of some haunts are vague at best, and some haunts are already decided by the time they start (one way or another).

What’s a game that you love but understand why others dislike?

Not as pictured, very short on content, but still not bad.

Oh I also love how you can use one product for several things! I like doing lipstick, blush, and eyeliner with the lipstick, and then doing contour with the eyeshadow sticks as well!

I found the most challenging part of this game is that you need to have players who like coming up with ideas. Some people prefer games that are more linear: roll a dice, move spaces, do what the space says. Do you like to tell stories?

I’m curious if people have a game that they use to love and would play all the time but now if someone wanted to play you would have a hard time saying yes? Have you played a game to death?

Any games that you’re sad that you played to death?

 Because both the pieces and game board are quite smooth, the pieces very easily shift around, making it difficult to keep proper score as the bunnies advance. All this said, the game play is very fun, and I didn't find myself really caring too much about the score even thoguh pieces kept falling and sliding around. The game was a hit with my family over Christmas vacation, and everyone commented that they liked how even people who are usually "good at games" could still do well.

The game concept and card art is excellent. Other reviewers have said they prefer art from other Dixit variants better, but as a newbie to the game I thought these were great! Only criticism is with game board and pieces: (1) Game board is awkwardly long, making it difficult to everyone playing to have a good "seat" with respect to the board. Also, it is misrepresented in the current image on the product page show a square game board, but the board that gets shipped is actually a very long skinny rectangle (someone should probably correct this). (2) The bunny pieces are very unstable and fall all the time
