Monopoly Deal is an excellent card game and decidedly not the same as its parent board game. It's fun and competitive without the periods of boredom or drawn-out play time that its board game counterpart is known for. While irreverent games can be fun in the right crowd, we love that Monopoly Deal is a family-friendly game that doesn't need to rely on shock value to be fun. Deal can be played with two players for a fun cozy game night with your partner, though we find 4-5 player games to be more entertaining. Some of our testers have played this game for years and plan to keep doing so, which speaks to its potential to keep bringing the fun, unlike some other one-and-done games. The game itself easily fits in a pocket for transportation to any place you imagine you might want some entertainment. Best of all, this is the least expensive game that we tested and the most appealing.
Monopoly Deal generally takes new players a few games to fully understand gameplay, but after that, we find players are good to go. Also, it is not deeply strategic, as there are definite luck of the draw aspects to this game. However, this means that older and younger audiences can generally enjoy playing the game together, though we expect players younger than eight may not be able to play competitively.  The game however, focuses a lot more on set collecting and meaningful player decisions and interactions, which means that plays are spending more time planning and optimizing their moves and seeing how they resolve, which is so much more better than the original game. What Did You Play This Week? - (October 18, 2021)

Fun Game!

I’ve always been super impressed by games that are super simple and you can teach them to a literal toddler in under a minute, but they still keep you engaged. I’m a super hardcore gamer, most of the games I play are crazy complex. But the fact that something so unbelievably simple can keep me engaged is astonishing to me. I think my two favorites are No Thanks! And Insider. But I’m always looking for new games that fit this weird subgenre.

What’s your favorite game you can teach under a minute?

Fun game for adults and older kids.

Do not recommend. It might be salvageable as a cooperative game if I can come up with some rules. I only brought 4-5 games for memorial day weekend. I had the opposite problem this time, didn’t get to play some of my favorites that I brought along - Monopoly Deal

What Did You Play This Week? - (July 26, 2021)

 We play it two different ways – one whoever gets 3 full properties wins or whoever get a certain amount of money wins. The winner of the previous game usually chooses which we will do. Most of the time the games are used to make deals of who wins they get something or a loser owes the winner something. We keep two sets at home and one in each vehicle so that if we are ever anywhere that a game would add some fun we whip it out

 As long as we have been playing we have yet to find anyone that does not get addicted to playing the game and has to go out and buy their own set.

Great Substitution for the Board Game

My first board game I got was actually Resident Evil 2 (not including monopoly and stuff as a kid), I thoroughly enjoyed it and still play it to this day when I can with friends. Huge fan of the IP but just think it's fun.
