 And if it's what you want too, then I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better value. I got mine gently used in the original box for $80 on my local Facebook marketplace, but they regularly go on eBay for around $100. So if you're in the market for a simple set of wired headphones, and you want the best sound for your money, try the HE-4XX's. I don't think they'll disappoint you

 The low mids are fairly well-balanced and still very detailed. And finally, the bass is the only place these headphones are a bit lacking. What little bass there is sounds very good, but there simply isn't much of it. An EQ does do wonders to bring it back, but if you're a basshead, these are definitely not the headphones for you

 Comfort-wise, these are about as comfortable as over-the-ear headphones get. They don't feel excessively heavy, and the balance of the headband pressure and clamping force is just about ideal for my head size. When it comes to sound quality, the HE-4XXs really deliver. HiFiMAN HE-4XX 2021 Review! - Best Headphones For $100?

 It's not long enough for comfortable PC/ living room AV receiver use for me, so I ordered a replacement cable when I bought the headphone. The replacement cable is that red one that everybody else is buying. I clipped the "braided" part off, and now they're really cool looking red cables. They click really nicely into the headphones - better click than the stock cable

 Customer service is not amazing. Warranty is nothing special.  Oh, and the stock cable is a cable. It's not great

 Where my AKG K240S's were unable to give me bass where I knew there should be some, the HiFiMan HE-4XX gave me back my missing bass, without "muddying" the trebles, but, at the same time, the treble doesn't have that "sparkle" (another term I now actually understand after reading all those audiophile forums) that my AKG had. Very well could be because I tore all the foam and mesh out of my AKG to make them more open and airy. I hesitate to make any modifications to the HE-4XX, but I've seen some mods floating around regarding taking out the filters, etc. We'll see - I don't really like the idea of hairs/dust getting into these drivers

 I'm willing to do that. They sound good enough that I don't want to not have them, and I really don't want to pay for shipping on..

These headphones are very comfortable very good build quality I would’ve rated higher but The cord that was included only one side works tried them on my laptop tried them on my phone only one side I can hear music other than the faulty cord I’m happy

Nice sound but couldn’t EQ to my taste without distorting the bass, noting that it was a returned item. Had to step up to a Sundara to get what I wanted to achieve.

For me if my review covinced you to not get the 4xx’s. The next headphones Id honestly prefer is he400se/He-x4’s they both have the same sound signature, they sound better for detail and at a better price point (60 bucks cheaper.)

Final thoughts!!! Get the 4xx’s if you want really nice-full extended bass in an open back, awesome soundstage, don’t mind a little heat, and enjoy vibrantly bright headphones, than try the 4xx’s out you might not even be disappointed even satisfied if you enjoy rumbling bass, with a big soundstage.

Mids: Mids sound a little drawn back and lost in detail they just cant be focused on no matter how hard I eqed the mids and upper mids. The voices still sounded somewhat boxy, and this is mostly what caused me to return them; along with how warm they sounded, and how warm they got on my head after long gaming sessions.

Bass these are bass focused!!: The bass goes the lowest I’ve ever heard in an open back, it really doesn’t overpower most of the frequency range (Except for 250hz-500hz…cant be fixed with eq!!! ) if you decide to add more bass through equalizer, and if you do..! oh boy they get really nice sub bass better than a dt770 meaning, no distortion at the same volume as the dt770 and its especially dependent on if you get a proper amp.

Bass on these rumble! The sound signature is really fun but it didnt quite meet the mark for detail.

So I will be the first to admit I have a very large head, even for a guy, and have had trouble with headphones wearing out quickly because of this. But these began falling apart in so many different ways. The headband broke where the metal meets the leatherette, the screws on the sides of the cups fell out consistantly and nonstop.  And it is a real shame because the sound quality is phenomenal

 Now I have both ear cups and the headband sitting in a basket on a shelf while I use worse sounding headphones until I can afford to take another shot at a hopefully more durable pair of headphones.  TLDR They sound really good. Exceptional even for my tastes. They are not particularly comfy or uncomfy, they did not clamp too much on my large head, but they are extremely fragile
