All in all, the Klipsch and the S1000DB sound practically identical. The design of this speaker has a certain aesthetic that could make it perfect for some spaces, but it may clash with the decor in others. However, if the look appeals to you, we recommend Edifier S1000DB Audiophile.

 Basically, what the DSP It allows you to use these speakers not only in a mid-sized room, but also in an ear filled desktop situation. In fact, for midsize room, they even have matching stands that basically have that wood accent for these speakers. now. I Want to recommend them in a mid-sized room because there's some distortion from these speakers when you crack them up high

 This speaker has its flaws too, and I'm not sure if it's the Anping or the DSP. We'll start with the DSP though before we really jump into those flaws. Basically, what the DSP It allows you to use these speakers not only in a mid-sized room, but also in an ear filled desktop situation. In fact, for midsize room, they even have matching stands that basically have that wood accent for these speakers

 It's only when you crank the DSP up. The soundstage is a tiny bit clustered. It's not like when I Compared to let's say, Cath Q1 hundreds of Q1 50s, you get a really wide soundstage with decent imaging. Now, while these do provide, you know a lot of instrumental detail in a sense where you can, you know the instruments there

 I mean it's It's not like a shiver down your spine like else 50s, but I mean at the price point it's very modest. The bass is tight that that I'll give it that, but it doesn't extend low and if you think that increasing you know the DSP will get it lower it will. You're better off adding a subwoofer, which it doesn't have a subwoofer out. So connecting a subwoofer might be a bit tricky now in a near field environment

 They are good sounding and the cases are premium wood, but I would have loved them if they had these options on the remote with some feedback on it. Good for a computer, not for bookshelf. Also the description says SUBWOOFER. None present like a lot of powered speakers do

 In fact I like these so much that I'm not sending them back I haven't told the company that yet. You usually have to send stuff back, but these these are keepers. These are really really nice now. Bit big to have next to your little monitor if you want to have it and your laptop in the middle

 They're 18 pounds each. But speakers sound. It's all about the sound. So let's start with some sound

 The cable that they use to connect the speaker's is pretty interesting. Here's a close-up and you can see: I'm going to really seen a cable like this I'm used to speakers that connect with what they call speaker wire go figure. So it's just a twisted pair. Sometimes you'll see with RCA jacks on both ends, but this is sending a lot more data

 but these, these are some crazy cool speakers. They're heavy, they're big beasts. They're 18 pounds each. But speakers sound

The Splendid Edifier S1000DB Multimedia Speakers - REVIEWED!

 Apparently Edifer didn't think of that. It's also unfortunate there's no way to change the input mode without using the remote control — if it ever gets lost or broken, the speakers are useless!  I connected via Bluetooth from two different iMac computers, an iPhone SE, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 3GS. The iMacs and the iPhone SE were able to connect with the latest Bluetooth 4.0 standard, while the older iPhones use Bluetooth 2

 In other words, you can't just disconnect from a device and then try to connect with another, you've got to turn off the first device's Bluetooth, or else tell it to never pair with the Edifer again.  The color of the LED on the front panel tells which mode the speakers are in, (e.g.: blue for Bluetooth), but it doesn't indicate whether it's actually connected with something or in the pairing mode; for example by flashing the light

1, There wasn't much difference among all the devices I tested. In all cases there was still the annoying latency that made it impossible to watch videos with sound routed to the Edifer speakers via Bluetooth.  I might even be able to over look all of those flaws, if the Edifer S100DB speakers had an analog output and/or sub-woofer connector. If connected via Bluetooth (or preferably, via a direct digital connection), there'd at least be some way to connect an auxiliary amplifier and speakers, or a sub-woofer to make up for the low-end response the Edifers don't provide

  I expected the Edifer speakers to perform somewhat comparable to the $300Pair KRK RP5 G2 Rokit Powered Studio Monitor Bundle I purchased a few years ago for an audio-related lab I work for. Before buying them, I thought about buying a new set of Rokits for myself, but I decided to buy the Edifers instead, because their connectivity would be easier to use and more flexible in a home environment.  The connectivity features are pretty much as advertised, though they have some flaws. The analog inputs work just as you'd expect; plugging into a computer, iPhone, etc

So Many 5-Star Reviews Were A Red Flag

 The mid and upper bass are tight and full with a lot of texture that gives the clarity and richness which also hats to the imaging. Clarity is definitely a standout feature with the S1000 DB, but the deep impact and kick of the low end makes it ideal for gaming and watching movies, and it does an impressive job with almost every genre through at it. Edifier S1000d B is by far one of the best speakers I've ever listened to music on it is consistently faithful with its sound reproduction and transparency, delivering rich, accurate bass and treble with a deep sub bass that has a generous amount of impact and kick thanks to the deep cabinet to rare bass port series. A little scientist for you guys, but just remember listening back to this over your mobile phone or laptop speaker

 So here's my toss: have to just speaker I've got some time to mature a little and I suspect that over time it's gonna even get better as it's being used when it comes to performance. The S1000 DB offers a really distinct sound signature that is marked by a warm, full-bodied deep low end but a somewhat bright mid-range and treble response. Dianne is very radiant and extremely detailed and how it resolves information in each track, almost pushing the vocals forward with a supporting sound stage that creates a nearly lifelike stereo separation which I think can be accounted for by the titanium drivers and the DSP inside. The titanium drivers deliver an amazing natural fluid sound with a lot of resolution and detail without any roll-off Even with the higher notes, it still remains crisp, clean, and balanced right through

 So here's a few buzzwords back at you: Edifier Clarity. Transparency. Pleasure. Warm, full-body detail, Accurate, rich, Deep impact

 The rear of the master speaker, you get ports and control knobs galore. There is an optical coaxial PC and aux input along with three other control knobs one for the volume control. It also doubles as a multi-function button for selecting the different inputs. There's also a treble and bass control knob each for a 6 DB adjustment in either direction

 While they cannot perform at the same level as some speakers their size, they do an adequate job for their intended purpose at that price point. I don't expect a lot from shelf speakers that are internally amplified and have extra internal circuitry for use with Bluetooth. While the bass is not what you would want for primary speakers, they do a good job of filling a small room with sound. Because they are self-amplified, I can use multiple music sources such as the cheaper Sonos Connect ZonePlayer 90 instead of the more expensive amplified ZonePlayer 120, so it saves me money and space

 Going back and forth from Bluetooth to a configuration like I use with Sonos can be too much trouble for some people.

 While the bass is not what you would want for primary speakers, they do a good job of filling a small room with sound. Because they are self-amplified, I can use multiple music sources such as the cheaper Sonos Connect ZonePlayer 90 instead of the more expensive amplified ZonePlayer 120, so it saves me money and space. And if needed, I can set them up with my smart phone for on-the-go parties*. They are ported in the back and have a small red light in front on the primary speaker when powered on

Good Speakers But Audiophile?

 With this speaker being $100 above their next product, I expected them to get the volume/remote perfect, and it's a big miss  tldr: speakers are nice, volume control/remote is terrible, and unhappy they didn't get the remote right with the extra $100 above the closest model

Pros: + Nice looking and sturdy speakers; I like the real-wood finish + Bluetooth connectivity is excellent and pairs really well with my TV and phones, exceeds my expectation + Sound is great, especially some of the bass notes I've been missing out on  Cons: - When connecting the speakers to my (Samsung) smart TV via an optical cable, I can now only control the volume with the speaker remote, and not my TV remote. I'm not sure if this is a Samsung or Edifier issue, but would be ideal to be able to control all volume with one remote - Biggest negative: the responsiveness of the volume from the remote is TERRIBLE. It appears as if the incremental change in the volume is so minute that I need to press the up/down button for volume a dozen times to even notice a difference. Hence, multiple times I've checked to see if the remote is even working since the up/down don't seem to work (until I press it 10 more times)

 They are heavy! They are also described as "bookshelf" speakers; they are to big to be bookshelf speakers. I was going to place them on the ends of a wide dresser but they are to big for that. Currently set them on crates to keep them off the floor. I love the way they sound but they are an awkward size

Before I give my input on these speakers, I'd like to give you a little background - I own the Edifier 1700's, Klipsch RF-82's, Audioengine's A5+, and a host of other speakers from mid grade to upper-end audiophile quality speakers. I consider myself to have a pretty good ear for quality, all of my vehicles (Including my wives) have full component speakers, and are separately amplified.  With that being said, I was expecting quite a bit out of these at the price of 349.99, especially at almost three times the cost of my 1700's (Which are excellent for the size)

  The high's, mid's and low's blend together flawlessly. The tweeters are not shrill, they sound extremely uncolored and natural. I feel as if most speakers (especially self-amplified) lack either mid's, or low's, and are one or the other type speakers, and I can absolutely say that these S1000DB's do both, exceptionally well, and with clarity that you don't find in this price range.  The frequency response in the lower end, in my listening room, which is a little biased to help the lower end, with corner placed speakers and listening area in the rear center, helps the low's a bit acoustically

  They do get quite loud, I would say they are very efficient speakers. Plenty loud for me, I don't think I'll ever turn them up past 75%. They do sound flat and undistorted to maximum volume.  I could literally almost find no cons with these

If you're on the fence of buying these, read this.

 Saw a sound demo of Edifier speakers vs JBL monitors and they went toe to toe, but having the Bluetooth capability so that I can listen to my music on command via Alexa (Amazon Unlimited) was the tipping point. These speakers are excellently packaged and well protected during delivery. The package was 45 lbs. cuz these speakers are built like a tank! The real solid wood sides are rather attractive and the speaker covers are also elegant and sleek, but are sheer allowing the looks of the drivers and tweeters to be appreciated

 I use them to play music, basically all my instruments (synth, guitar, vocals, drum machine), and bluetooth my phone thru them on occasion. Its so easy to transition between them all with the remote. I have been so happy with them I bought some smaller Edifiers for my office at work.  December 2019 Update: These speakers are still kickin butt, with frequent, nearly daily use

 Highly recommend them. Also found that wire connecting my Amazon echo dot to the speakers gives even more powerful sound than bluetooth. Also, the synthesizer sounds awesome through them! I attached a video of my daughter just fiddling around with my Korg running thru the speakers, but it's just a phone video that doesn't do it justice.  February 2019 UPDATE: These speakers still perform flawlessly
