 So I've had this paddle for a few months now, but I've just started using it as my main paddle in the past month and it definitely has a lot more pop to it than some of my other paddles I've used. So it's really nice at the net, just you know getting dinks over and stuff is very easy, but you know sometimes you got to get used to the pop to it. So the grip that comes on this is not great, I didn't really like it too much, so I actually took it off and did a tackier wrap, but it's really just preference. So after playing with this for a few weeks, I do feel like it is a fairly forgiving paddle at the net for dinking specifically, but it does actually have some power behind it, so maybe if you're a little bit weaker player or you don't have a ton of strength behind your shots, this may help you get some little bit more power behind your shots

So this paddle costs around $200 new, but it is a higher-end paddle just because it is one of their newer paddles and it just came out recently

ENGAGE PURSUIT EX!! Paddle Review #2 - YouTube

 A little narrower at 7.5 as opposed to 8 but these paddles really fit my game. I'm kind of transitioning from a tennis game. These let me hang off the end of the paddle

 I like to add a lot of spin on my return of serve so these paddles were an easy choice for that. When looking at the EX versus the MX I actually found myself enjoying the MX a bit more because as a player with a smaller wingspan I was finding a lot of benefit in that extra reach especially when I was at the kitchen. Overall I really enjoyed the play test of the Engage Pursuit MX so much so that I am going to be switching to the MX 6.0 for all of my tournament and league play

 That thicker core gave me a bit more control and I found it was the perfect balance for my game. I didn't feel like I was sacrificing a ton of power from the non 6.0 version it was still there and I think the bigger grip size was really key in helping stabilize my shots when I was maybe hitting a little off-center. Engage Pursuit MX & MX 6.0 Pickleball Paddle Review

My best advice for an easy transition is to get an elongated paddle shape like the Engage Pursuit MX 6.0, Diadem Warrior Edge, Selkirk Invikta or CRBN1. It will allow you to use ground strokes are more similar to your tennis strokes.

Hi, I'm a former tennis player that has had to give tennis up due to an injury. Pickleball seems like a good outlet to replace my tennis itch. My question is where skill level wise can I expect to coming in at. I was formerly around a 4.0 to 4.5 in tennis. I'm thinking about taking a group class to understand the basics and differences from tennis. Any advice or info would be great. Thanks!

<p>Edit: My injury is my left wrist (I&#39;m right handed). Also thank you for all the tips and advice. I&#39;m not looking to jump right into tournaments or anything like that. I was never too concerned with my tennis rating. My playing style in tennis is kind of a mix between ground strokes and net play. I feel like my strategy and soft play is what will need the most work. My local community has a few pickleball clubs and groups so I&#39;m looking to join one and take a few lessons to get the basics down. Thanks everyone!</p>

Former tennis player wanting to get into pickleball

 You can't go wrong with either one of these. So between the four paddles, I love the 6.0. So between these two now, we've narrowed it down, and ultimately, I've got to go with both

 But I found with this, that thickness really helps with the forgiveness. Number two, I love the control that it has. So this did give a little bit more control than the standard one, the not 6.0

0 thicker version. I would say for this, I really liked this when I was playing singles. So I got to play both doubles and singles with both of these paddles. This one here, I did feel, just comparing it to the EX, I felt like at times I had a tiny bit less control with that longer handle

 They're kind of my top three things about, again, this is the EX. The only downside of this, and this is not so much a downside for me, but just anyone that's using the paddle, it does have less power. And so if you're someone that is looking for that paddle with a little more pop on it, probably the original one is for you. Whereas if you're someone that plays a little more aggressive, needs the control, I can generate the power, but I need control

Engage Pursuit 6.0 Review - YouTube

 Compared to Pro Shot 2.0 and thick Pursuit models it has less control, but more control than Prince Response Pro and most stiff paddles like Head and Vulcan or crazy power Gearbox. Bigger sweet spot than many paddles, about the same as Prince Response Pro.

In my experience, it has more power than Pro Shot 2.0 (similar spin), Selkirk Amped Epic, and Prince Response Pro, about the same as Engage Pursuit EX, still less power than Gearbox GX, Onix Evoke Premier, and ProKennex. Compared to Pro Shot 2.0 and thick Pursuit models it has less control, but more control than Prince Response Pro and most stiff paddles like Head and Vulcan or crazy power Gearbox

I'm a relatively new player looking for a paddle upgrade.  However, I don't find youtube single-paddle reviews to be all that useful .  I think a compilation of real-world observations and, especially, **comparisons** would be invaluable data to newish players like myself.

Let's make a gigathread of real-world paddle COMPARISONS.

 I thought maybe that the mid-weight version being less weight wouldn't be so heavy, it wouldn't be so hard to wield at the net. You could maybe get to your spots faster. So I got the Pursuit EX mid-weight. It is 7

 It's got a lot of weight to it, it's got a lot of plow through. Both balls, like I said, effortless depth on everything. The EX, you have to probably hit it just a little bit more to get that depth because it doesn't flex as much as the MX, but I'll get to that in a moment. The EX, very solid, head heavy, feels heavier than it is

 The EX, very much head heavy, it's very solid. It does not flex at all with the ball, I mean it is just really, really, really solid. It's got a lot of weight to it, it's got a lot of plow through. Both balls, like I said, effortless depth on everything

 Even though these are both engaged paddles, they're both pursuit paddles, they're very different, almost different enough where I thought about doing two different videos on these because they play so much differently. I'll kind of start with the EX. The more traditional size, the EX is head heavy, they're both 8.0 ounces, however they feel totally different in your hand as well

The spin was better than others but not as good as the Engage EX. I loved the feel of this paddle (grip + grip width), and found it helped me unlock a lot of skill to work up to the Engage in such a short time. I did need to generate some of it's power on my own, but honestly this thing was a beauty in the control game as well. I purposely used a 13mm core paddle with less control to improve my defense organically but now I want a solid thick core paddle since defense is important to me and I don’t need any help on the offensive end. Any suggestions? Also if anyone has the Selkirk labs project 001 or 003 tell me how you like it! I’m Intrigued!

Paddle?

It’s a waste of money as with this game, you end up getting something premium down the road. Also, off brand paddles don’t last as long compared to premium brand paddles.

Good Morning! Next weekend our father turns 65! For the last year he’s been looking into taking up pickleball as he steps closer and closer to retirement. 

My dad grew up playing tennis and ping pong  and he’s pretty good at both. Although he’s never played pickleball, he is starting with some familiarity with racket type sports. 

Money is not an issue. I know paddles can get expensive. What are some suggestions for a decent “beginner” or intermediate paddle? I’d like to get a pair for my dad for his birthday! 

We also got him some private lessons with a family friend.
