ErgoDox EZ

In 2014, I discovered mechanical keyboards and 60% boards. That's when laptop keyboards became unusable for me. I got a surface pro 4 in 2015 with a pok3r keyboard. Later I got an Ergodox EZ, discovered QMK and realized I couldn't go back to a non-programmable keyboard.

Ultimately this has the same deal breaker that ErgoDox EZ has for me - no base kit. It's a hotswap board, I refused to pay a whole bunch extra for switches and keycaps I will never use.

I also am... how would you call it.... a "frugal Canadian", so the USD price tags are also something that I find to be a bit overboard - though that's a matter of perception/unfamiliarity. Anyways, I've been really interested in a few designs that I feel would work well. Notably the ErgoDox EZ, Infinity ErgoDox, and ReDox v0.2WHS.

It's an Ergodox EZ Shine with the under glow not the backlit keys. It came with blank caps and I'm a decent typist, but not a traditional home row typer. I cross type a lot and that's one of the things I'm going to correct with the split keyboard. That said this is a completely new experience and find myself trying to hunt and peck with a key layout online.

ErgoDox EZ. * Good stuff: hotswap, good keycap compatibility, enough keys on the thumb cluster, good tenting options.
