 They claim that this helps with durability and perimeter weighting, which helps with power and sweet spot. So the largest differences are the powerband technology and upgraded edgeless frame. I just don't know that those specific upgrades warrant an extra $50 in price. Now, on the other hand, and to Gearbox's credit, this is what Carbon did with the new X series, and we all loved it

 It went from being very soft to more of an all-core paddle, whereas Carbon felt like an all-core paddle and went to a power paddle. In my opinion, it's hard to find reasons that this paddle should have been increased to $250, but that's just where we are with paddles these days. To Gearbox's credit, though, they are one of the few brands that are innovative enough to warrant the price tag. A lot of companies on the market are doing the same thing that they have been doing and just increasing the price

 It makes it feel like I have a 5.3 inch handle instead of 5.6 as advertised. Now, whether this knob bothers you is going to be personal preference or not, but for me, I didn't personally love it and found that it made the handle just feel smaller when putting two hands on it

 In terms of technology, not that much has changed. So why increase the price to $250 just for some extra power? The three things that they market as changes on the website are the HyperBite 2.0, which has the added grit to the face. But that was a free upgrade last year on the original CX-14s, so we can take that out of the equation

 I believe this is due not only to the thickness but how headlight the paddles are. They swing super super fast. While touch shots and dinks were easily achieved adding pace and depth took a lot of user effort and when I was in a difficult situation such as returning a hard ball or penetrating serve I was unable to generate power unless I added a ton of swing speed to my shots. Also I noticed power drop significantly when I hit the outer edge of the sweet spot

 Initially when picking up both of these paddles my first reaction was man both of these paddles are really headlight. At first I had a lot of difficulty hitting my serves and my drives deep into the court but after a while I was able to dial that in and really started liking this paddle as far as a pinpoint accuracy paddle and a paddle that provided excellent touch for my dinks. The texture on both paddles is extremely low although both paddles do not have significant grit the headlightness allowed for spin to be generated when taking a large fast cut out of the ball generating a good amount of top side and backspin. Players that play more of a singles game might gravitate towards more of a Gearbox CX14E and players looking to play more doubles might gravitate towards a Gearbox CX14H

 But cons aside the paddle again is super fast and easy to maneuver. This version looks great and it's super durable as expected with Gearbox. Overall the CX14s will greatly benefit high intermediate to advanced players that tend to hit heavy balls and need the most control possible. For me I found the higher powered CX11 line to be my favorite but I would recommend demoing both the CX11 and the CX14 side by side

 It's the brand new CX14 from Gearbox. Gearbox has always had really nice paddles, but they've always had really kind of crisp paddles that really shot the ball out and were more power-oriented maybe, even though you could dink with them and all that, there was a lot of power involved, and especially like the latest GX6s, very powerful paddle. I honestly had a hard time dinking with those just because they had so much pop. So Gearbox has come out with the new CX14s

 Another caveat there is that this paddle does run $200 US. Paddles are becoming more expensive, but there's a lot of technology that they put into these. Gearbox is kind of a cool company. Guys, thanks for stopping by

 If I got to the court and this was the paddle, if I misplaced there, because I'm changing out paddles, if I'm trying out paddles, and this paddle was in my bag, I would not feel uncomfortable at all playing with this one. I like this one a little bit more than the 16 and a half inch version, just because I'm used to hitting this more traditional style paddle, just a hair over 16 inches. It's the length and style that I use currently, so it was an easier transition. Really like this paddle a lot

 The GX11s and even the new CX11s are 11mm wide, the CX14 is going to be 14mm wide. It still has the SSD core of the GX6, which means it has ribs of graphite that run the length of the paddle. It's rolled graphite, so there's two sides to it. So this graphite varies in angles as it goes through the graphite

 They do not go soft. My honeycomb paddles, they typically get soft after six months. With this stuff, I can just play two, three years and they just keep on performing. Great company, great customer service

 So that's a big plus. And when it comes to, you know, dinking, the two are very similar spin wise, even though the Electrum has a little bit of a rougher surface, the CX-14, I get the same amount of spin with both paddles. All in all, I think the Gearbox is obviously going to last longer than the Electrum. So you know, this has just got a better core than the Electrum

 That's how good it is. A good price and like I said, these paddles do not break. They do not go soft. My honeycomb paddles, they typically get soft after six months
