Gregory Paragon 68L Pack 2017 Review

     (1) The suspension is very comfortable and does a good job of transferring weight to my hips.

     (I) The side zipper is not useful to me (and is hard to operate when the pack is full) and is therefore extra weight and expense. But I understand that we all use packs differently; I assume many folks use this zipper.

     (A) The zipper on bottom compartment goes around two curves that make it quite hard to zip. Sometimes I end up not using the zipper and filling this compartment from the top, which makes the zipper extraneous weight and expense.

 We'Ve got really nice padding and support there in the harness and that padding also continues into the adjustable hip cells, there's also quite a bit of fit adjustability. Here. On the back of the Paragon, I should mention that it's available in two size offering there's a small/medium which best fits torsos, ranging from 15 to 19 inches and then a medium flash large, which best fits 18 to 22 inch torso within each of those packs.  If you choose to an interesting feature to call out here at the bottom, you can see that I've got that threaded over the top of that mesh pocket helps me really ratchet down on the gear. That'S in there you can rethread it and run it behind those contents. It makes it that much easier to get into this pocket, but cinches down the load internally in the pack. It'S a nice feature there and spin the pack back around for just a moment and show this neat little feature: a quick skill for sunglasses kind of thing that you may not give much thought to until four there if you've been out in the trail, these sunglasses, When you don't need them, what do you do with them? This quick show is make is kind of an answer solves that problem just thread it through the top portion here and then there is a stretch bungee attachment to Clips it right in place safe, it's out of the way, but also right there and easy to get To when you have me to put their sunglasses back on other feature, I want to show you on

  The side zipper is very useful to get access to other things in the middle of your pack instead of having to dig through things.

 Where that wishbone comes into the lumbar section of the back panel, you've got really beefy padding there really cushion against your back again where that weights really coming into contact so nice padding there there's also a silicon eyes surface. It really creates a grip zone, basically ensures that the pack stays centered right there. The small of your back there in the lumbar the rest of the pack can flex can move with you on the trail. So it really does kind of mirror your movement without jeopardizing that balance for that stability

 Actually, two separate zippered compartments here on the lid got a map book here in the top pocket and all kinds of other things stored on the interior of what is a larger pocket on the face of the pack. You can see this stretch, material really large shove. It pocket I've got a jacket in there. You can put all kinds of things in there, especially gear layers that that you kind of want to keep close at hand

 It also keeps the pack from being as stiff as some backpacks are, but you've still got that stability. You still got that load balance, it's so important that same die-cutting or that matrix fum carries into the contoured shoulder strap the harness portion of the pack and you've. Also got some really nice padding down here in the hip belt as well, so not heavy but very cushioned. Well, padded really helps this pack comfortably carry up to 50 pounds and there's adjustability here as well

Good pack but missing some features

I'm Adam for get Out There magazine and this is the Gregory Paragon 58 liter Pack. First off, this pack comes in four sizes: 38, 48, 58 in 88 liters. The size chart is great for determining your size, but if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact their customer service as they were right on the ball with their recommendations. Also, for more comfortable fit, you can use the adjustable hip belts to help mold to your body type and you can also refit this position the main straps relative to the pack with just a quick adjust panel to get a balanced carry depending on the load you have packed away

 As for the weight of the 58 liter pack, it is less than four pounds. Now that is mostly dude to the framing that is all made from lightweight aluminum. The Paragon is light but does not lack comfort. The strap quality is and thickness is great throughout the bag and the lumbar support fits perfectly into your low back and it also has a silicone grip so the pack does not slide down at all

On top of that that matrix ventilation does allow a lot of air on your back so you don't get too sweaty when you're when you're walking and hiking. Now the bottom of the pack does have a separate sleeping bag compartment which does allow for easy access from below

Gregory Paragon 58L Pack - Tested & Reviewed

  No need to worry, the Paragon is a completely different pack than that old Baltero.  I'm still keeping the Deuter, but look forward to using the Gregory Paragon 68 on a 5-day trip in July 2023 in the Wind River Range.  Wearing it around the house, the fit and materials are great, so it will fun to try it on the trail. Perhaps I'll get to do a longer trip somewhere with it this fall
