I am looking for a daily use laptop that can be used for primarily programming and using it for building applications/working. I am certain that I'll primarily be using Linux most of the time (might Dual Boot Windows - If needed) and would like it to work well with linux. 

I intend to do occasional gaming, but that is going to be rare and I think a moderately powerful GPU should be good enough for it. In case I would like to train any ML algorithmss, I plan on using Cloud GPUs which would be way more powerful.

I am looking to flex on the RAM and SSD, planning to get 32 GB of ram to future proof the laptop. And a 512 GB Nvme SSD.

I don't really care about the speakers that much. 

The display should be good. I feel either an AMOLED display or a IPS display, 15" should be more than sufficient.

I am thinking between a ThinkPad or a Dell XPS, as both are good, have great specs and can run linux well. I do not intend to purchase a second hand linux because I might end up being scammed with fake parts, where I live. Are there are good suggestions to check out for buying a new laptop ?

I'm a biology PhD student and my laptop is circling the drain. I do a lot of my work in ArcGIS Pro, as well as some coding in R, but nothing too taxing there. I'm also a teaching assistant working from home, so I'm on video calls nearly all the time. I was weighing either an upper-end ThinkPad or the  zephyrous g14, but the lack of camera on that one is a major downside. I'm open to really anything at this point. I'm looking for something that will last through the rest of my program (3-4 years), with good graphics and decent memory. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop that has been great for my purposes overall. I also do a fair bit of gaming (Skyrim, League of Legends, Fallout, etc) but I think my old laptop will be fine for running those. I use an iPad for notetaking, so I don't need anything 2-in-1

 It works soooo smoothly with a docking station and delivers a true powerhouse, oh and that bright beautiful OLED screen tied with Nvidia powerful processor, . Take a bow HP you have outdone yourself with this one. It will be my PC for a loooong haul.

I need laptop that can run for many years around 7-8 years although having upgrades in softwares i use . 6gb vram prefarable. i have choosed tuf 15 I7 11th gen and rtx 3050Ti 4gb vram but i am not sure how good it is in context my field or there are anyother option for that price.
