 The company says that you can get up to 14 hours of music playing time or up to 130 days of standby time, and as I mentioned, you can even use the speaker itself to charge up your cell phone while you're listening to tunes. Ok enough talking about the speaker, let's hear it play some music. What I've got here is my iPad air and I'm gon na finish up the review by playing a part of the track called hot heat by Topher Mohr and Alex Elina, okay ready here we go. The volume right now is that about 50 %

They say this speaker is designed for indoor and outdoor sound enjoyment

Review: Jabra SOLEMATE MAX Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Speaker

 It delivers decent sound and battery life, has a strong feature set and excellent design. While it's meant to work as both an indoor and outdoor speaker, I personally favor it as an outdoor speaker. By that I mean its rugged, water-resistant design and meatier bass make it more appealing for outdoor use, where the volume and girth of your music can be more important to the listening experience as sound disperses in an open environment. As a result, if you are looking for a speaker that you plan to take outside a fair amount, the Solemate Max is certainly worth considering, especially if its price comes down

  At 5.8x13.8x5.8 inches (HWD), it's really quite a bit bigger than its little brother, and on the inside sports two woofers, two tweeters, and a rear bass radiator

Back in 2012, Jabra released the Solemate, a compact Bluetooth speaker with a distinct, footwear-inspired design and decent sound for its size.

18 pounds. It seems sturdily built and is shock, dust, and water resistant.  Obviously, due to its increased size, the Max plays much louder, offers much fuller bass, and just sounds bigger and richer overall than its smaller predecessor. My only gripe with it is that while it sounds good for a compact Bluetooth speaker, it isn't quite as clean sounding and detailed as it should be considering its $400 price

 What was a bit surprising to me about the speaker is that it does not include any sort of a bag for carrying it. This is a portable speaker, it's a mobile speaker, more than a polar bull speaker, because it's really big and it's really heavy. But it is a speaker - that's designed to be taken with you. Hence the handle here, but there's no carrying bag

 You can get chorus devices for speakers for about this or less as well, but if you like the design, if you want something you can use at home and on the go, if you tend to use bluetooth a lot with your audio and if you love Jabra, Sound this is really a neat option. One other thing worth mentioning: you do get the Jabra app I'm going to cover the code over, so you can use Jabra zap with the speaker, which will give you enhanced audio as well. So that's something that you have to take into account when you're thinking about whether or not you want this speaker and whether or not you want to spend the money that the speaker costs. I happen to love the soulmate design and I happen to like Jabra audio

 So you cannot use this for a while and still know that when you pull it out and turn it on you're going to get a get good audio here on the front, you've got the grills with the jobber name right in front. You can actually see the speaker's through the grill. If you look closely enough and a nice style piece here through the grill, you can actually see the Jabra name as well here on the bottom. It'S actually falling off because it wasn't put in properly

 What is really a little bit different is that you have a nice angle here. So when you place the speaker on a flat surface, the speaker's are actually pointing up a little bit, which is really nice. It actually points to the speaker's the sound up away from the surface. It'S on and up toward you for a bigger sound here on the back

While the mini is about $70 cheaper, it doesn't come with a built in case, and the output volume does not get very high, so I give it equal value. 2. The Sounlink 3, is $30 dollars more than the Soundlink 2, but doesn't have a built in cover ($additional $40 value to get one now) and it doesn't improve much over the Soundlink 2 other than a longer battery life

  NFC ------ 1. Jabra has NFC, which means some cellphones can connect to it with a simple tap. That's great. 2

 No extra work needed. 2. All 3 Bose speakers act the same way. Connection and pairing is easy, but most of the time when you want to connect again (a day later, or after disabling bluetooth to save on cell battery for a bit) you need to go to the speaker and click on the bluetooth icon to again make it available to be connected to

 2. The Sounlink 3, is $30 dollars more than the Soundlink 2, but doesn't have a built in cover ($additional $40 value to get one now) and it doesn't improve much over the Soundlink 2 other than a longer battery life. 3. The Jabra is close to $400, and at that price point its hard to justify over the competition given that it doesn't have any advantage over them, except if you truly value rugged design and will be taking it to a lot of beach trips

 I never noticed this before I compared it to the Sony. I have to actually turn the volume up on the iPod or the Jabra for those type of songs. The Sony always keeps a consistent volume level. The Sony is not as ruggedly built as the Jabra, though, and has no carry handle, only a soft travel case

  Compared to theSony SRSBTX500 Portable NFC Bluetooth Wireless Premium Speaker System , which I also have, this Jabra is slightly shorter and heavier. The sound of the Jabra is also more a treble sound, while the Sony has more bass. (Once again, however, what your equalizer is on greatly affects the sound.) The one shortcoming of the Jabra is the volume gets lower when playing songs that are softer, and songs that are older ones remastered

 The Bluetooth even talks to you while connecting. I just turned it on, went to my phone and turned on the Bluetooth and chose the "device list" setting, and the phone quickly found the Jabra. I then used another phone to call my phone, and the ringing came in loud and clear over the Jabra speakers. If you use your phone as an alarm clock, the alarm clock sound will also come in loud and clear over the speakers

When I first saw the picture of this Jabra stereo with a handle, I thought it was going to be very lightweight. Thus, I was surprised when I first picked it up and realized it weighed over five pounds. But in my opinion, any electronic product that is heavy is well-made! It's also versatile when it comes to connecting devices. There's Bluetooth and it is extremely simple to connect with Bluetooth

  The Max however does produce an audible hiss, not as bad as some, but it's there if you're in an indoor environment. The low and mid frequencies of the Solemate Max are superior to the original solemate, the Max is simply louder and packs more of a punch within those frequencies HOWEVER I cannot recommend the Max for anyone with a discerning ear due to one fatal flaw..

. nope. If I boost a certain frequency band the Max compensates by greatly reducing the entire volume. If I cut the 14K band out of the mix I could eliminate the harshness introduced by the DSP but not without bringing it down so much that that portion of the mix is far too absent

 here's why.  For me when I found the original solemate I had found my perfect speaker, it produced no audible noise or hiss unlike so many other bluetooth speakers and it had great bass in conjunction with accurate highs which can be hit or miss with so many other options.  The Max however does produce an audible hiss, not as bad as some, but it's there if you're in an indoor environment. The low and mid frequencies of the Solemate Max are superior to the original solemate, the Max is simply louder and packs more of a punch within those frequencies HOWEVER I cannot recommend the Max for anyone with a discerning ear due to one fatal flaw

  If you play a track that primarily resides in the low end the Max will boom with extra loud bass simply because it can according to it's DSP, now you play a track with a mixture of all frequencies and the bass is noticeably subdued in comparison to speakers without DSP, the worst part is songs with higher pitched female vocals or anything else in the higher frequencies sound "harsh" and "grating" to the ears due to the DSP's attempt to subdue those frequencies, that wouldn't be so bad if it only did so at higher volumes but the same harsh DSP induced tones are present at medium volumes as well for no good reason.  I played all my test material that I use on all kinds of different speakers and I could never achieve the balanced sound I can get on speakers without DSP. I thought I could fix it with EQ.

  The bad: the microphone doesn't seem to give excellent quality to the other person on the other end until you are within a foot of it. outside of that range it tends to get choppy and not very clear. The button on the top of the device for taking calls needs to be pressed and held in order to initiate voice commands on a galaxy s3 but it often has some odd lag that doesn't allow it to stay active long enough for the voice commands to work.

I've been putting this through it's paces and it's really a great speaker though there area couple annoyances that I have found it sitll is a rather good product overall.  The GOOD: excellent clarity of music/voices powerful speakers has a built in microphone to be able to take calls when listening to music. Charge your cell phone on the go/at the beach. usb can also connect to your computer to be used as external speaker

 So if the device is plugged in and USB is connected a simple relay disengages the power supply line (16v) so that it doesn't get too much power.  One other issue is the fact that the volume isn't completely controlled via the BlueTooth device connected to it, The main volume has to be set on the speaker and then the bluetooth device can change it's volume separately. It would just be a lot nicer to be able to completely control the volume from the USB device.  Also the speakers can get distorted at higher levels, unlike some other bluetooth speakers that I have tried of the last few years

Expensive but the sound quality is truly there, microphone isn't as good as it could be.
