 Then a little while later the front casing that protects the actual speaker itself came loose and has a habit of falling off now. Both issues are annoying, but the speaker itself is still functioning, hence why this review is three stars instead of lower. It works out well enough for my purposes at the moment, but if I wanted to use it for anything more active I'd worry about it falling apart of dropping some piece without my notice. The sound quality is great, and I'll still use it for a little while longer just to get my money out of it

 Let me start off by saying I was actually impressed with how this thing sounded with its small size. Whenever I review small speakers, I expect to hear muddy and not very clear audio. But with this speaker, JBL really improved it. The audio is not muddy, and is surprisingly clear for the size

 What's going on guys, it's Gino with Modern Accessory Review, and today we are going to talk about the fairly old JBL Clip 3. This tiny ultra-portable speaker is going for $45. I personally bought it because I believe the best review should be from someone who has experience with the product.  I was actually surprised the battery life was this good though. For the size of the speaker, I was expecting less. We have Bluetooth 4.1, which should work fine for the average consumer

 In the middle of the back of the speaker, we have a pretty large piece of clear rubber to keep it in place when you set it somewhere, and it provides a great grip. There are many different color options, but the color I have here today is gray, which I really enjoy. Surrounding the speaker, we have the metal hook that really improves its portability. You can attach this thing to a bag and barely even notice it's there

I own several JBL speakers, my oldest is a Clip 3 (3yrs) I mainly used it at work (cabinetry shop) so I would say It's had some pretty rough use throughout all these years being full of wood glue all the time and sawdust, also I've dropped it a few times (on accident) and it's still going strong. I would use it monday through friday for 8 am up to 4:30 pm, I would get home and leave it charging overnight, no battery issues that I have noticed. Also just about 2 weeks ago I decided to clean it and since it's waterproof I submerged it under soapy water to scrub off all the glue it had built up and all the saw dust from 3yrs+, still working like new no problems 👌

How long or years can i last with a JBL speaker

 so pretty great so far.  In conclusion, unless you really want a really portable outdoosy speaker this is great for that reason and could be worth the full retail price, but for anything else maybe not but if you got a good deal like myself for black friday about half of the retail price, its pretty decent speaker even with its defects it has a pretty quality-price relantionship.  Pros: Best form factor portable speaker. Pretty good battery life Good conectivity and easy pairing Pretty loud volume Responsive and quick buttons Good looking and nice color Lightweight and small  Cons: Pretty mediocre sound with almost no bass Fabric quality not the best Specially anoying on/off and pairing beats Pretty expensive retail price

 Also it stays conected even if the source is pretty afar like 20 meters or more ir there is nothing between them, there is neither drops or disconections so far. now the battery life this month i only have charged it a couple of times even i use it almost every day couple of hours. so pretty great so far. Right now I have a little canister-shaped speaker in a water bottle cage.  It's a bit less than ideal since most of the sound goes away from me so I have to turn it up really loud and it is not really designed for that volume.

What sort of speaker do you have and what's your choice of mounting it?  I have a quadlock on the stem but I was thinking of changing things around to have a small speaker stem mounted facing me.

Where do you mount your speaker?

I like to get outside & active on weekend, a friend often streams music from his own JBL speaker and I got one specifically so we could pair and daisy chain the same stream for stereo (so to speak) or be in hearing range while moving around. I was under impression this speaker did that. I was very disappointed to learn—after we spent way too much time on a sunny Saturday our heads buried in phones trying to figure out—that the PRIOR model of this speaker had that ability, not this one. It’s very frustrating that JBL would make a later model have less features than older

Can’t daisy chain/sync with another JBL speaker

 It's got a little bit of bass. Now the mids are right on. It's crisp. Now the highs are good too

 So now we're going to check connectivity and range. We're going to power it on and connect it to my phone. So what we're going to do now is we're going to see how loud it is at the beach and see how far we can go and still hear it. So now let's talk about the quality of the speaker

 Real quickly, before we start our test, I wanted to see how strong the clip was. So we have a 25 pound dumbbell, and I'm going to clip it on and see if this bends. So now what we're going to do, we're going to head out to the beach and test it out. So let's clip the speaker on and talk about the design

 And we'll check this little compartment. That's it we have. Looks like JBL supplied us a charging cable. We got the USB and the other one that goes into the speaker

JBL Clip 3 | Waterproof ?? Testing & HONEST Review

For maximum durability, UE is a good brand. If can get the MEGABOOM3 (BOOM3 is sub-par), it'll be great for your use case. It's really durable and sound is pretty good. BUT, if you can find the JBL CHARGE5 on sale, you might want to get that instead. 

The JBL CHARGE5 gets pretty loud (louder than SONY speakers), and has great stamina. I know it has the exposed bass radiators, but they're made out of metal (unlike those on the previous-gen speakers made out of rubber overmolded on metal that is easy to blemish, or the ones on the FLIP4 that are made out of glass), just be careful not to mess up the rubber surround on the radiators. It also sounds better than the MEGABOOM3. The long battery life (around 7-8h on 80%) and loudness make it worth it on sale IMO. 

Regarding SONY speakers, I'm not sure they're the best for your use case. They don't get as loud as the JBL, and don't have the best stamina when getting loud (the speaker automatically gradually reduces volume over time as the battery runs out, and it's not something you can turn off). They are water and dust proof though.

Both speakers are waterproof and dustproof, and the UE comes with a 2-year warranty and the JBL comes with a 1-year warranty, both starting on the day they are purchased. I've had problems with both of these brands, but UE's handling of my case was better than JBL's although I don't think this is a deal breaker. 

Or, if the Portable BT Speaker world is too complicated, the Milwaukee should be fine too.

I'm looking for a blue-tooth speaker that is durable enough to handle construction work. I've got a remodel job coming up where I'll be alone for a couple weeks, and would like to not have my earbuds in that long. There are a lot of options from the power tool manufacturers (Milwaukee, dewalt, etc), but I can't help but feel you're buying the brand instead of a quality speaker. If I went with one of these I've been looking at [this Milwaukee one](https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Power-Tools/Specialty-Tools/Radios-and-Speakers/Speakers/2891-20#sp-specs), but if I can get a better one for the same price (or cheaper) that'd be awesome.

The speaker wouldn't have to take a beating, but preferably dust proof with at least a 10ish hour battery. I'd prefer not spending much more than $150.
