JBL Partybox 710 Review

 You're going to find yourself bear hugging and lifting it over just about everything. JBL engineers really need to "road test" this aspect of their designs and incorporate a larger wheel with a bit more clearance (and probably then a locking mechanism to keep the speaker where you place it). That said, this is the biggest speaker I've owned from JBL and I'm impressed with the build quality, amplifier power (yes, it needs to be plugged in), sound quality (for a loudspeaker) and features. And despite it's size, I'll likely be lugging it out to my back yard for BBQs and parties because I don't see myself going back to my Extreme 3 boom box now that I've experienced the BOOM (power) of a true loudspeaker

 I set it up on my deck outside and at less than half volume, I could feel the bass coming through an insulated outside wall with siding into the room inside. That said, it lacks on the high end (treble) but I believe that is somewhat by design. Loudspeaker systems are intended to be used for larger venues or outdoors for party events where your high-end treble isn't as "meaningful" as your mid-range because it travels more uni-directionally (while bass is omni-directional). The goal is to be loud and to PROJECT sound

 As a loudspeaker it packs plenty of "punch" (volume) and excels in the bass/low-end. I mean WALL SHAKING. Great semi-pro "loudspeaker" option from JBL

 You can see when I turn it up past 50, 60 percent, it gets really high in the mids and the highs. I can feel the bass, but I can't hear it as well as I can at the lower volumes. And this is the issue that I always talk about with the JVLs. They sound amazing at 50 percent

 The LG's don't do that. Now honestly, I like the LG's sound better. I didn't get the LG's out to compare them because the ones that I have are older models. They're a lot bigger and louder than the newer models but they don't sound as good as the newer model LG's

 The lighting's beautiful, the sound is wonderful. I really enjoy playing with them. I just wish that I could turn them up full blast and have the same sound at 100% that I do at 40%. So that said, the 710 frequency response goes down to 35 Hz and the frequency response on the 1000 goes to 30 Hz which are both pretty darn good

 The 1000 is pretty good. You get 60% and it sounds good and really if you crank this thing all the way up, it still sounds good. You just, like I said, you just lose that bass where this guy, if you crank it up, to me it almost sounds bad. So I'm going to give you a little demonstration here of the sound and the lighting on this guy

Thanks to the two large woofers in the rear flow port, coupled with an 800 watt amp in the 710, you get great volume across the whole spectrum of frequencies. If you are concerned with fidelity, you can always hardwire your music source into the Aux jack

 When I was first asked to review the PartyBox, I was kind of skeptical. I mean, come on, it's just a giant Bluetooth speaker. How interesting could this be? Need help choosing

 I have a cable running from one of the 1000's to one 710. When I connect the 710's wirelessly to run with the 1000's. The sound is not synced up properly. There is a delay or an echo and it's terrible

Pretty Cool

 However it is very important to keep in mind that the partybox 710 will not wirelessly sync up to any of JBL's older partyboxes like either a partybox 300 or a partybox 100 and you can only have a total of two partyboxes wirelessly paired up together. If you want to have more partyboxes paired up together like I did in my B roll you're going to have to daisy chain them up. And you also gotta keep in mind that you can not wirelessly pair up a partybox 710 up to any of JBL's smaller partybox speakers. So if you've got a JBL Boombox 2, JBL Xtreme 3, JBL Flip 5, Charge 5, or a JBL Pulse 4 they will not wirelessly sync up with the partybox 710

 You can only have a total of two speakers paired together wirelessly and you don't have as many speakers to choose from. Personally I really just wish JBL would just bring party boost to their partyboxes. But at least partyboxes do have those audio out jacks so you can always daisy chain speakers together so there's always that. But I will admit its just not as convenient as just being able to wirelessly sync up lets say 5 partyboxes together

 The only area that I feel this speaker needs improving is its port set up. Theres a lot of horse power here that's going unused and I really wish you could hook up more things to this speaker. Especially if you like to moonlight as a DJ. And I also really wish that JBL would just bring party boost to their partybox speakers

 However, unlike the 310 the 710 doesn't have a built in telescopic handle, its fixed. So rolling this speaker around is a little more awkward than the 310. Now even though its great and all that the 710 has built in wheels… sometimes you will have to carry this behemoth around and just be warned that this big boy weighs in at 62 pounds. And for comparison sake, the 310 weighs in at 38 and a half pounds and the 110 weighs in at 23 pounds
