I've seen a lot of posts out there on the T430, all over the web. That said, as far as I know the T530 can accept a much better processor and all of the same upgrades (coreboot, classic keyboard, etc) while having a larger screen and the same durable construction.

Yet I see few T530 posts and consistently low prices on ebay. Does the T530 have some kind of fatal flaw I don't know about? (I'm new to thinkpad ownership)

(Yes, I know it's a bit heavier but that doesn't seem enough to really matter)

I need a laptop that has an i5 or i7 cpu, min 8gb ram, 14 or 15" screen (full hd), 256+ SSD. There are many, many laptops with these specs but the most important aspect is that it has ultra durable hinges because the screen gets opened and closed ALOT every day. The last 2 laptops lasted just over a year before the hinges came apart (right out of warranty period on both). I know there are the ultra rugged offerings that are so bulky it looks like it could be run over by a car or dropped from 30 feet and be fine. This still needs to look and feel like a regular modern laptop. Price range is around $1000-$1200 ish. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Need a laptop with VERY durable hinges please! Suggestions?

After fully recharging the laptop, we set up the machine in power-save mode (as opposed to balanced or high-performance mode) where available and make a few other battery-conserving tweaks in preparation for our unplugged video rundown test. (We also turn Wi-Fi off, putting the laptop into airplane mode.) In this test, we loop a video&mdash;a locally stored 720p file of the open-source Blender demo movie Tears of Steel(Opens in a new window)&mdash;with screen brightness set at 50 percent and volume at 100 percent until the system conks out.

Here's where the P52 disappointed. Mobile workstations aren't taken on plane trips the way ultraportables are&mdash;they're carried down the hall or across town to show renderings or scientific analyses to the boss or to a client. Even so, six hours of stamina barely qualifies as average these days.

POV-Ray 3.7 puts systems through an off-screen rendering exercise that taxes GPUs and multiple CPU cores to the limit. The ThinkPad P52 completed the test in 114 seconds, barely slower than the Precision 5530 (112 seconds) but edging out the HP ZBook 15 G5, which combines a Core i7-8850H processor with Quadro P2000 graphics (117 seconds). The Precision 3530 was well back at 146 seconds

My Lenovo Thinkpad from nearly a decade ago hasn't been working too well for me lately, sometimes struggling with video calls and buffering videos. Also, it's graphics card isn't good enough to run a few games I'd like to play (Civ 6, Ori & the Blind Forest, Journey). Not sure if that's specifically something I'll have to look for or if all modern computers will be up to the task. I'm in the US, looking for something <1K

I have a Thinkpad P52 with i7-8850H vPro processor, NVIDIA Quadro P1000 4GB , 16 GB of RAM and an outstanding 2TB ssd nvme . Till this day,  this machine has been able to surpass anything that I throw at it .
