Hi, I'm looking to buy a high-end and portable laptop for Linux use. My budget is $4000 (is this too much?). I've been eyeing the Dell XPS 15 9510 and the Dell Precision 5560. They're pretty similar in terms of parts, and I'm choosing these:

- 1 TB SSD

Update: I think I'm going to slowly stop answering comments now, but I wanted to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart! When I created this post, I was overwhelmed by confusion, and I expected maybe one or two somewhat helpful replies; instead what I got was an outpour of support, recommendations and new perspectives, all of which have helped me greatly and made this process so much easier!

As of writing this, I'm still not entirely sure what my final route will be, but I'm leaning towards sticking with Apple and giving the M1 MacBook Air a try, while also using bootcamp to install a version of Windows, so that I can play all the games I want to play (as long as the specs allow for it of course). My next step will be to take a closer look at the recommendations you have given me, comparing them, reevaluating what I value most and sharing my thoughts with friends who understand my needs and wants.

As the title says, I'm looking to switch from Mac to Windows, which will be my first time owning anything other than an Apple-product. I have been looking online on different 'Top 10 lists' and reviews, and I'm feeling very overwhelmed. Existing in the Apple ecosphere for so long, I never really payed attention to different specs; I just knew that newer equated to better. Therefore, having to look at all these specs, with their confusing usage of names, letters and numbers is, well, overwhelming.

At the same time I can't help but feel unreasonable. While my old MacBook certainly never was the best in any field (except for design maybe), it did reasonably well across the board, while (it seems to me), that many Windows laptops specialize in one or two areas, while 'neglecting' the rest. Therefore, I'm left wondering, whether it's unrealistic to find something that does everything a Mac does but better and cheaper?

So far I have had my eyes on the Huawei MateBook 13 (2020) with i7, but I don't know if it's a 'safe' choice considering this 'trade war' between China and the US, which I'm not even sure is still going on?

The Mac I'm looking to replace is a MacBook Pro 13" (2017).

Looking for a gaming and general use laptop - US, max budget $1500

It doesn't sound like you need the RTX video card but of those four, I would choose the Zenbook.  They have very good built quality.

I'm looking for any advice or opinions regarding which laptop to get. I'm not only tech illiterate, but I'm indecisive so I figured I'd post here in the hopes that someone could help me out. Thanks for taking a look :)
