 Meze knows how to show off the details well and the entire headphone just looks like a piece of art as usual. It's a great job all around here and I'm glad they carried over some of the best parts of the 99 Classic design. For my testing session I paired the Meze Audio 109 Pro headphones with the iFy NEO iDSD headphone amp deck and a black dragon cable for Meze Audio headphones. Two things right off the bat, the imaging is simply amazing and the signature of the headphones sound like the clarity of the elites matched with the more warmer tone of the Empyrean

 The 109s retail for $799 so if you're looking for an open back headphone we seriously recommend them. They easily go toe-to-toe with headphones twice their price and combined with the warmer signature, tight bass and plenty of clarity on the top ends, the great styling and comfort and you have a headphone that checks off all the boxes. You could even say they're a Meze. Thank you

 I like that Meze includes multiple cables and links with their headphones. They're fine enough for what they are but you can tell that they put all their engineering efforts into the headphone as they should. I was actually noticing some sibilance issues around 5 or 6k again just a rough estimate with the headphones on a number of genres. You know it's that sometimes harsh sounding S or T that makes you wince a bit

Meze 109 Pro Headphones Review & Unboxing | Moon Audio

 Well, folks, it's not every day we find intrinsic value in audio products. But in the case of the Mezee 109 Pro, it's there. And I would recommend them for someone who enjoys anything from acoustic to classical to modern rock all the way to electronica. These aren't the most affordable cans around, but they definitely aren't the most expensive

 Hey folks, welcome to take two of the Soundstage solo project, where I give my second opinion on a particular pair of head-fi gear. I'm Mike from Mike on Audio, and the saga continues to explore this wonderful world of headphones. I am starting to realize why some people are just downright fanatical about collecting headphones. They're smaller and oftentimes less expensive than speakers, and you can still get a difference in sound signature that's sometimes staggering between one and another

 I started with Everything I Wanted by Billie Eilish, which has a good combination of deep bass and gentle vocals. They were able to play low enough to let me know that the bass is there without overpowering the song with the amount of bass I know it's capable of. I was able to hear the musician actually play the guitar. What I mean by that is, down to the sound the guitar makes, you know, when you go like that and you run your hand down the guitar, I don't know what it's called

 So how much were they? Well, these actually come in at $799. That surprised me. Well, not only because these have established value both in design and sound, but also because I'm aware that Mezee makes some really expensive cans. So without checking the price, I was internally assuming that they were above the $1,000 mark

On October 1, 2022, Brent Butterworth reviewed the Meze Audio 109 Pro headphones and wrote: “I kind of feel like with the 109 Pro headphones, Meze Audio is giving away its magic on the cheap. No, they’re not quite as great-sounding as the Empyreans, but I find them delightfully listenable over the long term, clean and neutral enough to let me ‘hear into’ the recordings and pick out all the parts, which is what I like to do when I’m listening to good headphones. . . . Definitely on the short list if you’re looking for high-end headphones that sound great overall no matter the musical genre, but won’t cost you a fortune and won’t annoy you with a lack of creature comforts.”

 There's also a 6.3mm adapter included which is nice. But let's talk about the headphones. Meze Audio uses sustainably-harvest black walnut wood which is beautiful and adds a touch of refinement to the headphones

 It's relatively wide and there's plenty of layering and separation with an accurate presentation of instruments and vocals. Anyway, here is a short sound test for you guys. Thanks for watching!  More than that, the headphones can be taken apart for repairs and replacement and I tried it out at home, you know, taking out the screws here to remove the self-adjusting headband and all, you know, it's super easy. The cable also connects via 3.5mm jacks to the headphone which means it's easy to find aftermarket cables if you're into that. The headphones are incredibly comfortable right out of the box thanks to that self-adjusting headband that helps to distribute pressure across your entire head, resulting in basically no pinching at the crown at all

The earpads are made of velour and they are certainly very nice with just the right amount of clamping force. On the outside of the earcup, you get what Meze Audio calls their spider-shaped structure which allows for airflow

Meze Audio's first-ever open-back dynamic headphones are absolutely incredible, and definitely worth a trip if you can test them out!

 Some headphones are not very comfortable initially and only get worse the longer you have them on your head. Hot spots on the headband and ear pads with other headphones after wearing them for extended periods of time, This problem never happens while listening to the Meze 109 Pro. I could rave about the comfort and quality of build for a good while. 

 However, they aren't very heavy either. In fact, they are so comfortable, you hardly notice they are being worn. The sound quality is exceptional. The tuning of them seems to make every type of music sound as good as it possibly could. Without a doubt, their sound quality matches their build quality. What a treat!

Resolve is right, 12k rise does show up and can be a hair bright in songs that are simply that, too bright, BUT in well recorded, sonically balanced recordings just bliss! Paired it with a new Topping A90 Discrete last night and SMSL SU-9 and ZEOS is right it pulls you into another dimension and you don’t want to stop listening. I think it shines best in jazz, classical, acoustic and vocal rich songs

 On rock I loved it as level of detail was huge. As you know this is not a bass head can and is tuned for upper bass warmth. I would give this headphone 6 stars as Meze 109 sound, comfort, luxury is just oozing out of this headphone. Still love my HIFIMAN XS, but in comparison XS seems more neutral, less warm in upper bass, and like polished glass versus 109 being like a crystal you are looking through and enjoying every refraction, color and sparkle
