Microsoft Surface Laptop 3

I loved the keyboard on my work computer so much that I bought the Trackpoint 2 wireless keyboard to literally sit on top of my Surface Laptop 3 keyboard so I can have that excellent typing experience while I'm doing homework. I decided to take this keyboard to work with me so I could push the laptop back with the other monitors. I realized it was nice to not have to reach for a mouse having that little red knob on the keyboard so I started to use the Trackpoint more and more.

More well-known Ultrabooks like the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, HP Spectre 13, or Huawei MateBook X Pro have brighter displays or faster dedicated GPUs than the Microsoft laptop while "proper" professional laptops like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon or HP EliteBook x360 1040 are easier to service and have more integrated ports. The system feels barebones and even outdated as a result despite sporting the latest 10th gen Intel CPU

I saw a lot of posts blaming modern standby, but I really don't think that's the root cause, I have Surface Laptop 3 and checked on friend's Lenovo device that both use modern standby and sleep perfectly fine (dozens of apps open, wake up fast, almost no battery lost). I tried changing to hibernate, and disabling wake up on fingerprint sensor, but nothing really makes the computer sleep as it should. I also contacted Dell through my ProSupport, which they've not replied for almost a year.

5-inch Surface Laptop 3 is a modest improvement on a well-designed ultraportable that gets the basics right.

The best not-great-light shootout I've found is a 2020-04 WSJ video, with the Surface Laptop 3 coming out on top. A 2020-05 PC World article also praised the Surface webcams at that time.

Finally, as this is a Surface device, numerous weird bugs have come and gone throughout my testing period.

I am running this screen of a 10th gen Surface Laptop 3, and it works perfectly. No dock needed, just direct USB-C. 90W slow charge is not that slow.
